Stayed with my husband and daughter for a week and brought our fishing boat. Pros: Although the weather didn't really cooperate, we caught enough fish for several fry ups. If we caught fish, anyone can. The cabin is IMMACULATE, with every single thing you could possible need. The owners are very friendly and available to help with anything. (Like launching your boat) However, if you demand a beautiful private setting this might not be for you The cabin is a converted garage. The garage door is behind the big curtain in the main room, so there is no view of the lake from the cabin, and the owner's house is between the cabin and the lakeside deck.
When I found out my daughter was pregnant with her FIFTH boy, I knew when she delivered her baby I wanted to find an extended stay close to her home in Sartell, MN. LInda and Ross's cabin on Clearwater Lake was the perfect retreat for my husband and me as we travelled back and forth to help out with our busy grandchildren. Linda and Ross were the perfect hosts, attending to our needs, taking us and our grandkids on a ride around the lake on their pontoon boat, building a fire for evening s'mores, and much more. I appreciated a fully equipped kitchen so I could cook meals to take to my daughter. The beds were quite comfortable and the entire cabin spotless. We enjoyed our outings to nearby Annandale and Nelson Brothers Bakery and Restaurant. The lake was so peaceful and sunsets were stunning. My daughter and her best friend even came to stay for a girls' getaway for two nights.
We stayed at the Cabin over Labor Day Weekend. It was a relaxing and wonderful time. Our grand kids came up for an overnight and some boating and they loved the time in the area and with us...In fact, our grandson said "Can we come back here again?....I really like it!" Linda and Ross were super accommodating and filled with a ton of information about the lake, fishing and the area. Great people to get to know as well as to rent from. The cabin was super clean, comfortable and fully equipped to make our meals, and have a total of six at our table very comfortably. We were able to dock our boat, and did catch a few fish....but intend to return in the future to find those "elusive" ones.
We didn't do too much sightseeing because we had a good time where we were at. We did go out to dinner with Linda and Ross at the Waterfront....Great food...highly recommend it! You could get to it by boat, but we chose to go by car that evening! We would highly recommend this rental!!
After selling, packing and moving, we found this cabin provided the much-needed respite we were looking for. Ross & Linda have furnished this adorable garage-turned-cabin with everything necessary for our week's vacation. They even provided dock space for our fishing boat, and we thoroughly enjoyed fishing and touring Clearwater Lake. To top if off, they took us on a pontoon ride, showed us great fishing spots and Ross regaled us with stories of the lake. They shared the bounty from their garden, and were incredibly hospitable. Great location, nearby towns for groceries, shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.
My wife and I enjoyed our most recent stay in May 2016. It was our seventh excellent-rated stay since 2011 at this Clearwater Lake cabin. We keep returning because the cabin is extremely clean and comfortable and is located in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood on Clearwater Lake. We make many of our own meals in the fully equipped kitchen. We enjoy evening walks, viewing the sunsets and wildlife activity including the calls of the loons. The cities of Annandale and Maple Lake are nearby for restaurants and shopping. Fishing in Clearwater Lake is very good. The hosts always go above and beyond our expectations to make our stay enjoyable.
Linda and Ross were terrific-they even played the role of doctors when my friend got a hook stuck deep in his finger-we avoided the dreaded trip to the emergency room-Linda even fried some fish for us the "Minnesota Way", and gave us some of her special recipe for us to use. Ross gave us the use of his large net (which we used a lot), life jacket, stringer, minnow bucket, and lures for the entire week-and took us on a tour of his favorite fishing spots on the lake. Make sure to ask about Randy early in your stay-the rest of your fishing will go much better. The cabin was immaculate. We could easily catch more fish than we could ever eat from the shore 150 feet from the cabin. Clearwater Lake is a fantastic fishing lake-Linda and Ross are the best hosts possible. If you go there, you will be glad you did.
