Thank you!

We had a wonderful time. Your lovely house was the perfect getaway for us, as would be for so many people. While we enjoyed a week of lounging, lazing, kayaking and cooking in, others could easily enjoy so many other activities, like hiking, swimming, and enjoying the many activities that Middlebury has to offer.

The house is gorgeous. The main bedroom, with its breathtaking views and large windows, was like sleeping in a landscape painting. And the master bathroom, with its jacuzzi tub that overlooked the lake, just added to our relaxation.

Finally, your own accommodations never failed to make us feel more welcome. Whether it was sharing songs with us on your porch or coming by to make sure that the outlets had safety plugs to ensure that our 1-year old was unharmed, we felt like we were well taken care of.

Thank you again for a lovely vacation. It was exactly what we needed.

Absolutely the best house on the lake

  • 5 of 5

1st of all Barb is the best person I have ever rented a house from. She provides the best possible experience a renter could ask for. As far as the house it is beautiful and the view is outstanding. I have stayed twice now at it and would be there right now if I could be. I brought my dog with me and she was very accommodating for him. He loved the house and the lake probably just as much if not more than me. The house is built with only the finest materials. And there is no bad view from inside or out. I really appreciate everything Barb has done for me while I stayed there. And would recommend it to anyone that wants a peaceful getaway. You will not be disappointed in any way shape or form. Thank you again Barb and best wishes...

Beautiful Lakehouse and Wonderful Vacation Spot!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed at Barb's lakehouse for a long Memorial Day Weekend and it was one of the best vacations we've had! The house is beautiful, has amazing views of the lake and is such a peaceful environment! We spent so much time just sitting in the yard on Barb's lounge chairs looking at the views and on the balcony off the bedroom. Barb also graciously welcomed our dog Brandy and Brandy had the best time playing in the yard and going in the lake (Barb even gave us a doggy life jacket for Brandy to wear). Barb also gave us great tips on what to do in the area (we went on a hike up Snake Mountain, which offers breathtaking views of the lake, and went to a great restaurant (Park Squeeze) in Vergennes) and we were able to use her kayaks, canoe, paddleboat and brand new grill to have some great BBQs. I'd highly recommend spending a nice week here and we will definitely be back.

DIRTY

  • 2 of 5

When I arrived, all the glass was smeared with big dog slime. This included windows, doors, fridge, oven, dish washer. YUCK!! One bathroom medicine cabinet was all covered with something on the inside-toothpaste maybe? The grass was too high and no trim work/weed eating done at all. There was some fake plants inside so thick with dust, one could hardly tell the color. such a beautiful home disgustingly dirty. When I COMPLAINED, I WAS TOLD I WAS NIT PICKING!

Would LOVE to come back!!

  • 4 of 5

This place is incredible and Barb is the best! First time going to Lake Champlain and even though the weather wasn't quite perfect, it didn't disappoint. She even allowed our dog! The only downside was that he ate one of the lovely chocolates that was left for us on our pillows.

Panaromic Lakeview

  • 5 of 5

Coffee with an incredible lake view with animated birdsong every morning (& sometimes a chipmunk), wine by the fireplace at night, lots of exploring and relaxing in between. Alas for us, it rained every day but one, or we would have spent more time on the lake.

Still we made it out for some paddle boating and fishing, watched the sunset wrapped in blankets in the Adironack chairs, with scallops on the grill. Actually heard a loon (silly thing that's been on my bucket list...check). Visited the alpaca farm, did a wine tasting at the Shelburne vineyard, made day trips to Burlington, Montreal, and a few small towns on the way.

We were a little alarmed at first when the place seemed kind of remote, but once you get the lay of the land, you welcome the peace and quiet and the bucolic leisurely drives.

The Barbs were very helpful and responsive to whatever we needed. You can tell they put a lot of care into this cabin. Hope they can work out the people restrictions because the place could be great for a group. We hope to come back one day in the summer or Fall, or winter for that matter, because that view would be amazing in every season!

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Everything was perfect. Barb came by the first night we got there and showed us everything around the house and even helped us plan out a couple of days. We went to Ausable Chasm ( in NY; about an hour away). Since it was offseason, it wasn't fully operational but nonetheless we got to walk around and see the Chasm. It was nothing short of breathtaking and I recommend seeing it.

As far as the house goes, you couldn't ask for more. Just a short walk down to your own private beach, bedroom overlooks the lake. Just perfect. It was just what we were looking for. Thanks again Barb for everything. It was awesome. We will be back!!!
