This awesome designer apartment is located in one of the very few prime waterfront locations on the Spanish Water in the popular and upmarket Jan Thiel area. The apartment is part of the La Maya Beach Resort, an intimate boutique small-scale gated boutique beach resort with its own private beach for only 34 condominiums. It has onsite resort managers and this privately owned apartment has its own personal concierge/assistant/manager who will manage all your needs and will meet & greet you at the resort upon arrival. It is situated in an amazing architect designed tropical garden, featuring 2 large infinity swimming pools, palapas and a private white sand beach, with stunning views overlooking the Spanish Water and Marina. This apartment has spectacular views of the Spanish Water Lagoon, the Tafelberg and the Caribbean Sea. You will find several marinas and other amenities as well as popular beaches (Zanzibar), shops and restaurants in this area. The Spanish Water Lagoon is great for water sports such as sailing, windsurfing and water skiing/wake boarding. It is a short 20 minute drive from Jan Thiel/Brakkeput Abou to downtown Willemstad.

Two fantastic supermarkets are nearby as well.

We looked at many properties in Curacao, and when we found this beach front apartment at the luxurious small scale La Maya Beach Resort, we knew it was in one of the best and most central locations on Curacao (near the famous Jan Thiel Beach). It's fantastic location right on the prestigious Spanish Water, on it's own private white sand beach, is truly unique. lay Maya Beach Resort is architecturally designed by renowed architect Henk Bolivar. The landscaped gardens with the two pools (incl. the large infinity pool) located right on the private La Maya Beach Resort beach, are beautifully designed with lovely palms and tropical plants. Its serene environment, though close enough to trendy restaurants and Beaches, will ensure our guests a restful vacation on Curacao.

What makes this condo unique

The beach front apartment itself is the most luxurious and modern in the entire complex, and is in a fantastic location with Ocean and Spanish Water Marina Views. This brand new apartment has been upgraded with a luxurious kitchen with quality stone bench tops and European stainless steel appliances, a large kitchen island/dining table and a Grohe 6 massage jets shower tower w/monsoon shower head and quality bathroom fixtures. It has been tastefully decorated with modern design features.

The appartement is really well equipted - the high quality level is not common all over the world... all the time when we were there we used the terrace with the amazing view...You promised not too much :) Sorry, can´t give you any advises to improve something, otherwise I would cry on a outside level.

We stayed 4 nights at You & Sea Bonaire and we had the most peaceful and enjoyable stay. Gian and Semona were very helpful with picking us up at the airport, arranged for our rental car, and giving us tips to visit interesting places in Bonaire. The Apartment was clean and beautiful just as the pictures show. It has all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The apartment is convenient to multiple super markets, restaurants, downtown, snorkeling/diving places. We definitely would love to come back.

Definately NOT on the beach.

While the property management is fantastic and did all it could to fix the numerous issues that arose, the unit is definitely not what we expected. First of all it took almost an hour taxi ride for the airport to get there so you MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION. The unit was well build and relatively clean and modern but many things did not work (but were going to be fixed shortly). Without the AC operating it was unbearable to even sit in the living room and sleep at night. Since there is a surcharge for electric usage above a minimum allowed each day we were warned we would have to pay more if we used it to cool the place. The grounds were nicely maintained, the pool clean and in good condition but the waterfront was no where to swim as the undergrowth started 5 feet from shore and unless you had water shoes you could not enter. We were the only N. Americans there and were told by other owners to "turn off our I-phone music because they had "rules saying music could not be played at the pool". We left the property most days to find public and private beaches that were more then one hour away from the unit. Definitely not what we expected.

Owner's Response: We are extremely proud to have received numerous excellent reviews on HomeAway, and with this apartment being part of the La Maya Resort, please research the fantastic guest feedback for the apartment and the resort before making any judgement based on the inaccurate review from this guest. Firstly, the property is approximately 30 minutes from the airport (not one hour). This is about the same for any decent resort or hotel. The resort has two excellent swimming pools in landscaped grounds, with a private beach right there just 50 metres away on the Spanish Water. There is absolutely no reason to drive “more than one hour away to find public and private beaches”. Besides the private beach right on your doorstep, there is a fantastic beach called Zanzibar less than 10 minutes’ drive away in an area called Jan Thiel. Please Google it to see the beach, restaurants, supermarket, and scuba diving operation. We are not sure why the guest was so offended for being asked to turn down the volume of his iPhone music at the pool, as most guests appreciate listening to their own music through ear phones or enjoying some quiet time. The guest has used this situation and all the other inaccurate items mentioned above in an attempt ruin our excellent reputation. These are all facts that can be verified. One of the three air conditioning units in the apartment stopped working while the guest was there – this is the first time this has ever happened and hopefully the last time, but these things unfortunately can happen to anyone or any hotel, and was addressed almost immediately by our management company. Despite detailed instructions in the apartment, our management company spent every single day onsite in the apartment with the guest to explain to this guest how to operate the refrigerator, the washer, the dryer, the two TV’s, internet, phone, etc. He appeared to be technically challenged and unable to operate basic appliances.This elderly guest made it a very challenging time for us, but rest assured, every guest will continue to receive the best service we can provide.

Superb choice for relaxation and comforts

What a fabulous place this property is in Curacao! My friend Jill and I adored the view from the balcony, the well-appointed kitchen, the presence of fans and AC in the bedrooms, the fold-open doors to the balcony from the kitchen and living room area when we weren’t using the AC in that area, the size and serenity of the pool, the quiet of the property--wow! I especially liked the espresso machine complete with frothing pitcher and used it daily with the ground espresso beans I had brought from home since I knew about that machine. Due to the kitchen accessories (from good knives to cutting boards to cheese slicers, to cooking and serving utensils, to pots and pans and plastic containers for leftovers), preparing breakfast and dinner to enjoy on the balcony was a breeze for these two women in their early 60s looking for a relaxing vacation. The balcony and pool and private beach were all havens to return to after days out exploring the island, whether the Jewish Synagogue in town or the lovely La Lagun beach or the hike to the top of Christoffel Mountain! (Yes, we both made it to the top!) We relaxed, drinks in hand, gazing out at the lovely view. One day, from the pool, we were able even to spy The Jonalisa returning from its all-day trip to Klein Curacao and its mast when docked to whet anticipation of our scheduled trip. We know our husbands would very much enjoy being at this place if we were to return with them next time.

The great local team at Holiday Rentals is terrific, too. When I wrote them to inquire about a place to shop after our late arrival for breakfast items the next morning, we were sent a shopping form to fill out so that we would have desired items in the refrigerator upon our arrival for 20% of the total bill. Despite the late arrival and early departure, they handled our check-in and check-out promptly and professionally, with kindness and humor. They responded to emails or calls swiftly. The owners also were easy to contact and quick to respond when we had questions.

With a car, the location is 5-10 minutes away from some fine restaurants in the Spanish Water area and just off the nearby main road (Carascasbaaiweg) 5 minutes away from the excellent and unique restaurant Equus. We were both extremely pleased with our rental of 5C at La Maya Resort. If you're seeking a tranquil setting within a gated community, I'm sure you will enjoy this property immensely if you are fortunate enough to book it for your vacation.

We are 3 girls who spent about 10 days at this property. It's a quite, clean and a safe environment, we all slept very comfortably (good thing is that there is air conditioning, quite important!).

The house itself was awesome, plenty of space, modern kitchen. We loved the balcony!! We had some good dinners outside with stunning sunset! Also the pool was awesome!

We all loved it there and highly recommend this house.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the air conditioning, as we are the only apartment in the resort with an air conditioner system in every bedroom as well as the living room (3 in total). Most other apartments have only one air conditioner or none. It is so nice to to hear that you cooked up lots of lovely dinners in the kitchen, which is the most modern in the resort with stone huge bench-top, stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, etc. Yes, the view from the massive balcony is fabulous while you enjoy your dinners el fresco. Perfect for enjoying the evening breezes. And the convenience of the infinity pool right there to cool off. You really made the most the apartment. Thank you for being such lovely guests.

Beautiful, quiet and unique!

Four of us spent 10 days here. It was relaxing and wonderful. The apartment is great for four people. Spent most of our time in the apartment on the wonderful balcony over looking the pool and Spanish Waters.

*** Note:You need to spray for mosquitoes in the evening and close the doors to the balcony to keep them outside.

You do need to rent a car to see the island which is also awesome. We enjoyed several restaurants. The beaches are spectacular. The weather is consistently warm. It was a very different vacation, and I would certainly go again!
