About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (sleeps 8)

Country Cordwood is a very unique vacation cabin nestled in the mountains of East Tennessee. Close to the Appalachian trail, ski resorts, Bristol Motor Speedway and situated on a blue ribbon trout stream, it is a relaxing location away from the stresses of everyday life. It is minutes from Watauga lake, a large TVA managed recreation lake known for it's clean water, good fishing, swimming and boating.

Easy access to the Tri Cities of Johnson City, Kingsport and Bristol as well as Boone NC and Abingdon VA. Butler is a rural community in the history rich upper East Tennessee region. Less than an hour from Interstates 26 and 81, it is accessible by good roads year round.

The owners live on the property and maintain a small mountain farm with a wide variety of semi-exotic animals and livestock.

About Karen Visser

Your hosts have raised nine children on the adjoining property. We are a homeschooling family and operate a family manufacturing business, here.

Karen Visser purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Karen Visser chose Tennessee

This cabin was built entirely by our four sons, with Dad's oversight, as a homeschool project. Working every Saturday, from daylight until dark, for nearly three years, was a tremendous family experience and educational opportunity. The result is a handcrafted cabin with unique charm.

What makes this cabin unique

Nights around the fire ring, picnics and cookouts, peace and solitude. Lots of recreational opportunities, hiking, biking and boating.

Beautiful home and area!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time with our 9 & 11 yr olds for 4 days and. 3 nites! The owners were great and the house is truly magnificent! We were allowed to have my pups 4th bday party on site and has guests from several states travel and spend the day with us. They have a volleyball net, badminton equipment, a football, a creek to play in, and board games on site. We had fun the whole trip! The owners also allowed us to show the kids their emus, peacocks, donkeys and other animals that are at their home. We also were invited to let the kids play on playground equipment of their grandchildren. I can't say enough good about this property but also the owners! They are truly amazing!

Vacation To Tennessee

  • 5 of 5

What an absolutely great stay... The Cabin was so uniquely rustic and so comfortable.. Was very pet friendly, my pups loved the woods. Owners had Peacocks, they were beautiful. My husband stayed mostly at Lake Watauga, went fishing everyday he was there.. Country Stores, Country Roads, it was perfect.. If you are just a couple or a full family, I would highly recommend this Cabin....

Thank You Gregg and Karen, hoping to see you next year, had a super time.

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved it for our family of 5. The accommodations were rustic and quaint and we felt right at home. The setting is beautiful. After a day of hiking and exploring we looked forward to coming back for a relaxing comfortable evening. We definitely want to come back again. Thank you and God Bless!
