The neighborhood is a "preppy" local atmosphere. Loved the property, except for the "death stairs" as I quickly called them. There is lots to do within a short walk. Downtown (center square) I believe was a 25-30 minute walk and very easy to do. We walked everywhere as we felt very safe at even evening hours. (Two gals traveling together for business.) We used local transportation or Uber for longer rides with no problem. Everyone speaks English so that was nice for us that didn't speak the language. Overall Amsterdam is a GREAT place, fun environment, safe and wonderful to visit! I would highly recommend this place and might stay here again on my next visit. I would suggest to bring smaller luggage to get up and down the "death stairs". There are four flights to reach the bedrooms. We had a small problem and Alan (owner) and Anna (the property manager) both were able respond quickly. Thanks Alan for a super property!!
Apartment was as mentioned in the description. Very central to restaurants & tram stop only 2 blocks away. All the facilities for a short stay were available ,even down to coffee capsules & dishwasher tabs
Owner very helpful with P&R car park details for our rental car which saved over 300 euro if we had just parked in the street.
The apartment was as described with a great location handy to restaurants and transport like the tram only 2 blocks away. It also included all one needs when self catering like coffee capsules ,drying rack for washing clothes ,dish washer tabs and all utensils.
The area has many take out meals if you don,t fancy trawling out in the cold at the end of a long day touring.
The biggest problem was the steep Dutch stairs especially getting the luggage up 3 floors, however we were made well aware of this fact in the apartment description.
There is also near the close by Museum district, a not greatly advertised tour at the Bols company where you can have a tour and then buy cheap euro 5 cocktails over a range of 21 recipes.
The advise the owner gave on the P and R car park at Olympic Stadium was very helpful resulting in us only paying about euro 15 instead of euro350 for parking our rental car for 7 days. It was bit of a pain having to drive back and take another tram ride to qualify under the P and R rules after the 4 day cut off but at an alternative of paying euro 3 per hour parking in the street, well worth the trouble.
The apartment is located just outside the city centre in a quiet neighborhood and in walking distance from both the main museums and the main shopping areas. There are also many good restaurants close by. The facilities at the apartment are very good, although the roof terrace is a bit difficult (and a little scary to some) to access. We also found the mattresses in the master bedroom to be a bit on the soft side, but otherwise everything was just perfect. We can highly recommend this apartment for a family of up to four.
After visiting Amsterdam many times over the past 20 years, this was the first time to rent an apartment. It was perfectly situated in a quiet neighborhood within easy walking distance to restaurants, the tram and Vondel park. The representative cheerfully greeted us even though we were over 30 minutes late and showed us around the apartment. We had been warned that the stairs were typical steep Dutch stairs but once we got our luggage up never were a problem. We will definitely stay here again in the future!
