Our home is located in Gardiner, NY, just 8 miles from the town of New Paltz and minutes from the Mohonk Preserve, Peter’s Kill Preserve, and Minnewaska State Park. Hiking, mountain biking, & rock climbing and the many attractions of the greater Hudson Valley are all right here, just a 90 minute drive from Manhattan. There are several wineries in our area, two right in Gardiner.
We are situated on 60 acres of land bordered by the Shawangunkill River. We have beautiful views of the Shawangunk Ridge from our living room window and a swimmable pond, with dock, in our spacious backyard. Breakfast on the front porch, which is shaded in the mornings, is delightful. And the back deck provides a wonderful spot for the evening meal. There is total privacy in all directions!
Our home is a blend of traditional and modern styling. The open floor plan of the living room, dining area and kitchen has a cozy feeling and yet can accommodate a number of guests with ease. The three bedrooms each have a queen size bed and full bath. The Master Bath has a large, 2-person, bathtub and separate shower. In our sunny lower level there is a queen size sofa bed and a full bathroom. A pool table and closet of toys and games, as well as an elliptical exerciser, make this a friendly home for all ages.
This house was way beyond what we expected. We were looking for a quiet scenic place to unwind and celebrate an anniversary. This house is beautiful and kept very well. As someone who is neat himself its nice to stay somewhere where everything is organized and clean. Everything was modern and updated. The property is beautiful. It's close to several hikes and parks which make it ideal for any hikers. The property is so big you can do some light hiking without even leaving the driveway. The pond was refreshing and fun to swim in. I haven't swam in a pond like that since I was 12. We bar-b-q'd every meal and roasted marshmallows by the fire late into the evening. Stars, animals, plants, and space. The front porch alone is worth the trip. If you are looking to enjoy nature and the country then this is the place for you.
We had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful and spacious, and we and our two small boys loved everything about it and the property-- amazing views, a lot of lawn for games, and a pond for swimming and boating. Perfect.
My family, including kids, aunts, great aunts, and gramma, was hoping for a place to relax over our son's college graduation weekend. What we found was a home we did not want to leave! The house was perfect, every room had a view, and ample space for resting, dining, and enjoying the company of each other. Nothing was lacking for us. We spent hours on the back deck overlooking the pond, and evenings watching the sun set from the front porch. We could not have asked for more. Thank you so much to Neil and Kathryn!
We recently escaped Manhattan with my parents-in-law visiting from Australia, and this home proved the perfect spot for young kids as well as adults. The house is very well stocked, clean and welcoming. There was tons of space for everyone to have their own 'me' time, and the setting on the pond was just beautiful for breakfasts on the back deck, swimming in the pond with the kids or relaxing on the back swing with a wine for sunset. We definitely plan on returning in the Fall or Winter for some quiet family time and the beautiful, quiet vista.
We also loved the hiking at Lake Minnewaska, and there is a wonderful Italian cafe in Gardiner called Cafe Mio we would highly recommend.
This home has it all. Spacious, clean, with plenty of sunshine and a beautiful mountain view. Neil was great in accommodating my guests and I for our weekend trip. Highly recommended for a getaway upstate!
We are located in an outdoor wonderland, with world-class rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking, sky-diving, and cross-country skiing just minutes away. Kayaking and canoeing on the Wallkill or the magnificent Hudson River are close at hand. Our local culture includes great theater, restaurants, historical sites dating back to pre-Revolutionary times, excellent wineries, and artisans' shops in New Paltz, Woodstock, and High Falls. Fabulous music also abounds in the area.
