Sitting up high across the street from the Hill Park Association beach, sits this cozy Adirondack camp. You have access to both the beach and a dock where you can sit back and relax, swim, or catch one of the huge fish Friends Lake is known for. There is a row boat and private dock for your use. The camp comes equipped with all the basics, bring your own sheets and towels/pillows. New this year.....cable TV and Wifi Internet! Outside there is a deck with chairs, a new barbecue grill and a fire pit. The perfect place for your weekly summer getaway!
Centrally located in the Adirondacks. Only minutes away from everything the area has to offer. Only about 30 minutes to Lake George!
It is a lovely setting and a cozy retreat - but we wish it had been a little cleaner! It is a bit shabby inside and well worn. There really is no excuse for it to be dusty either. Also since it was a bit chilly, the heating left a lot to be desired. All in all we enjoyed our stay but wish the housekeeping had been better. There is a charge for cleaning and I think that was unfair since we left it cleaner than it was when we arrived.
As one can see from the pictures & the description, the house is not huge nor is it state-of-the-art. That said, it's all that is promised & what is promised is delightful.
The house is small. It's basically two bedrooms with a kitchen/living room. The fact that the bathroom was big enough to be more than just a shower stall - there was a bathtub! - was a nice surprise for a cabin that size. It is set among big trees on a little rise across the street from the beautiful Friends Lake. There isn't much of a view of the lake but sight of it through the trees is like something from a (happy) fairy tale. With our reservation, we were able to take advantage of the little beach area & the dock on the lake.
We liked that we had to bring our own sheets, pillows & towels. We were able to bring a higher quality than what we normally get on vacation. We also knew how clean they were. There was a clothes line to hang our wet towels & swimsuits.
The location of this cabin is ideal. It's about 25 minutes to everywhere - Adirondack Extreme Zip Lining & Bolton's Landing to the north east, Lake George Village to the south east, & Natural Stone Bridges & Caverns straight north. The breathtaking Hudson River is only minutes away, although to get to the "official" parking area one must travel a bit south.
The most wonderful surprise of all about the house is how great the property manager, Rich, is. He was attentive to all of our inquiries & he returned our deposit in a timely manner! It was so nice to pack up our belongings at the end of our vacation without worrying that we had to make the cabin glean like a mirror. It was such a nice way to end our stay!
We had a such a nice week staying there & we definitely recommend it!
We had a great week on Friends Lake! We loved the location, it truly was a get-away! The house was the perfect size for the four of us, and would have been tight if we had brought one more. The walk to the lake and docks was easy! And Rich Smith was very easy to get in touch with. Our deposit was returned within a week!
The kitchen had the basics, minus a can opener (I had to borrow from a neighbor...! 😀. And although the house has TV, it had basic channels, and no ESPN. Not a big deal for some people, but it was a disappointment to my husband and sons.
We would stay here again, for sure! Great little house!
Located on the west side of Friends Lake. Just about a 10 minute drive to Chestertown or 15 minutes to Warrensburgh. About 30 minutes to Lake George Village
