I grew up in Sarasota and always loved the beach and island life as well as all the cultural venues Sarasota is known for. I left Florida for university and professional reasons, however, always knowing that I would return to the area at a different phase in my life. I'm now married with 3 children, and Longboat Key provides exactly what we seek which is the serenity and tranquility of a beach life yet conveniently located to all the outdoor activities which we seek for as well as being a hop away to all that Sarasota has to offer. We hope to provide a place that would embrace love, tranquility, contentment, and good will to those who visit our home.
Alise purchased this house in 2012
I felt very fortunate to have found this lovely property in July 2012 as a vacation house to share with my husband, 3 children, and our family pet. We're looking to retire in the area, and the house was perfect for our needs. The private beach access is now rare in Longboat Key. The house is on a quiet street and away from the noise, and its close proximity to Anna Marie island and Sarasota is a main reason why we chose this particular home.
Private beach access to one of the most beautiful beach and magnificent sunsets; Quiet street yet within walking distance to stores/restaurants/shops; Close proximity to Sarasota and Anna Marie Island; Open floor plan; Dock for boats; Private pool; Regular pool/landscape/pest control services; Fully equip with modern conveniences for a home away from home; Everything is provided including all beach equipment/toys/cart/towels/chairs/umbrella/tent, board games, washer/dryer/vacumn cleaner, 3 bikes, 2 scooters, books, DVDs, and much much more.
Thank you for letting us use your home for 2 weeks. We had a great time. The area restaurants are great & the shopping is fun. We found lots of shark teeth between here & Venice beach. My boys loved having the pool to come home to. We would love to be able to return for future vacations!
We have just completed our fourth stay at this wonderful property. Since our last visit, the owners have upgraded the home with new appliances and new furniture in the living area, helping make our stay even more enjoyable. The location is quiet, and we especially enjoy taking morning walks at Joan Durante park just down the road. It is a great place to explore the trails and waterways and get a little closer to nature. Thanks again for a truly terrific time!
This is our sixth stay at this property. As always, Alise is great to work with and easy to reach. The dock and sea wall have been completely replaced this year, making the canal area much more attractive and much easier to access. Since our last stay, linens and towels have also been refreshed. We feel right at home at look forward to our next return visit.
Alise was great to deal with, very responsive and accommodating. The house however did need some attention. Shower hardware was not working properly and had to be "fiddled" with to get warm water. Master BR toilet would also only fill tank when it decided to. Refrigerator stopped working and we lost our groceries but Alise was very quick to get it fixed so we appreciated that very much. The house was tidy and well stocked but the tile floor could have really used a good scrub the grout was dirty and dark. Beds were comfortable and bedding was fine as well. Overall the stay was decent and served as a place to stay but I do think it need some attention before I would recommend it to someone.
Our family stayed here in July 2016 and had a great vacation. The house had everything that we needed - towels, dishes, pots and pans, blender, board games, movies, etc. There were supplies for cleaning and a few rolls of toilet paper and paper towels to get us started. The pool was nice after a warm day at the beach. The house had plenty of room for our family - we could all spend time together in the living room and dining room, but still had privacy in the bedrooms. The private beach is close by (just a short walk down the street). If you have not visited this area before - the beaches and blue water are gorgeous! This is a terrific beach to spend the day and swimming in the clear water is magical. There are lots of beach supplies in the garage for your use. Alise was always great about responding to my questions. She was great to work with.
Thank you Alise for sharing your home with us!
Our family had a perfect vacation at this beautiful home. It is decorated so nice and really gives you the feeling of being "at home". The pool was a favorite of our granddaughters and we all enjoyed sitting on the dock observing wild parrots, herons and egrets. The fish jumping in the canal and the pods of bait fish were so relaxing as we just let the stress roll off our backs. The sunsets on the beach and the occasional rainbow were reminders of God's handiwork and presence in each of our lives.
Thank you for making this a vacation that we will never forget. We would love to return in the near future to this piece of Paradise!!!
Our family of four really enjoyed our vacation stay at this nice island home. The house is clean and well maintained. Alise the owner was great about communicating, we had a couple questions during our stay and she got right back to us each time. The beach was very nice and the pool was refreshing to come back to at the end of the day. The dock for the boat was also great, like new. The boating is fantastic, short ride out of the canal and your right at the channel. Then gorgeous water for miles in every direction. Head north a few miles and anchor your boat at the sandbar at the inlet for a swim. It was swarming with live conch the day we were there and there is a shipwrecked sailboat there that makes a good photo opp. Lots of restaurants to choose from. About Harry's a block away, the food was fine but just know before going that it's a white table cloth place, small quiet dining room, small portions and over the top expensive even for the area. For us the experience didn't warrant the price tag. A restaurant within biking distance we liked was the Lazy Lobster, and waterfront restaurants we liked were The Beach House, The Dry Docks(killer view from upstairs) and a the Gulf Drive Cafe and Tiki on the beach in Bradenton where you can get a tiki table right on the beach (we had late lunch). The Mote Aquarium was actually better than expected. For about $75 total for a family of four they had a lot of tanks and a huge variety of fish, octopus, jelly fish, sharks, manatee, otters, sea turtles and all kind of other sea creatures. Cool place to spend a couple hours. So much to do in this area we barely scratched the surface. Have fun.
Our home is nested on a quiet water canal street adjacent to Gulf of Mexico Drive with direct private deeded access to the world re-known white sand beach of Longboat Key, Florida where you can come over every night for the most amazing sunsets. We are conveniently located between Sarasota and Anna Marie Island, with a 10 miles stretch of beach as well as walk/bike/running path to connect you to both. Sarasota is known for its fine art galleries, cultural events, live theaters, and the world class restaurants & shops of St. Armand Circle which is only a few miles south of us. To the north of us, there is the laid back Anna Marie Island full of beach cafes, ice cream parlors, etc. In addition to the beach access just steps away, Durante Park is an easy three block walk and offers several lovely shaded trails that lead you through the Mangroves trees ending at an overlook of Sarasota Bay. For families there is a nice shaded playground and for the nature lovers the park has numerous tropical plants and opportunities to observe dozens of sea bird species (http://www.longboatkey.org/Parks/durante.htm). If you are looking for a more active holiday over 10 miles of biking/jogging/walking/rollerblading trails run along the Gulf of Mexico Drive just adjacent to our street. There are also world re-known tennis camps and the LBK Golf Club on the island, as well as free public tennis courts within 3 miles in the community center and plenty of reasonably priced public golf courses in nearby Bradenton. Minutes away are dozens of fishing locations, which helps give Florida the title of Fishing Capital of the World. After an active day our neighborhood have several walking distance options for refreshments. For your convenience Harry's (less than two blocks away) offers a Corners Store, Bakery and Fine Dinning Restaurant. Longboat Key is known as a beach-lover’s paradise on Florida’s west coast, but it is also home to one of the finest and most romantic restaurants in the country — Euphemia Haye - just four blocks away. Upstairs at the Haye Loft, you’ll find the best live music Sarasota and Anna Maria has to offer. If you don't have your own boat/kayaks/bikes there are local vendors who will be able to rent them to you daily or weekly (e.g. Backyard Bike Shop is two blocks way and offers bikes from $10 - 30/ day or kayaks $40-50/day and Cannons Marina is 1 mile north for boat rentals). In addition to the neighborhood locations the Sarasota area has numerous cultural attractions such as: Ringling Museum of Art, Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall, Circus Sarasota, Sarasota Ballet, Opera, Orchestra, and several dinner theater companies. Tampa Bay is about 1 hour drive away and all the Disney theme parks in Orlando are just about 2 hours drive away.
