Secluded & quiet Akers Pond get away, fabulous mountain views.

Bedrooms 3
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 1 bathroom with shower stall, sleeps 6, pet friendly

Located at the end of the road, it's very private & quiet. It overlooks Stump Cove, which is un-swimmable. Akers Pond, however, is easily accessed by kayak or small boat or a short walk to one of it's public beaches. Included for use are two kayaks, an aluminum row boat and a paddle boat. There are plenty of life preservers available for use while boating. Relax on the deck, by day, to enjoy fabulous mountain views, as well as wildlife. You'll be certain to hear the soothing call of the loons during the season. By night, sit by the cove's edge and enjoy the firepit.

Winter season offers great activities, as well. One highlight is that you can hit the trail with your snowmobile directly from the cabin. And, there are many cross country ski trails in the area.

A sunroom, with a sliding door to the deck, faces the cove. There are two tvs with 'satellite', one in the living room and one in the first floor bedroom. The first floor bedroom has a queen sized bed. The second floor has two bedrooms, one has a full sized bed, the other has two twin sized beds. Both upstairs rooms have skylights & ceiling fans. The bathroom has a stall shower, no tub.

Please note that there is sketchy cell service at this location. The Errol Public Library, on Main Street, offers free wifi 24 hours a day.

Amazing North Woods Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I were looking for an amazing North Woods getaway and this quiet, secluded cabin was exactly what we were looking for. We spent 3 days in this beautiful cabin that over looks the lake. I'll be honest at first, I was hesitant staying at this cabin as my girlfriend and I were really looking for a weekend away, traveling the North Woods by ATV. The no direct ATV trail access was initially a game changer. We, however, decided that we would try it out anyway. It was perfect. Their are many different areas to access the trails with a short trailer trip away. What we found out is that we could leave our trailer and ATV at Log Haven 2-3 miles down the road for the length of our stay. As close to direct access as you could possibly get. Now we found out this little trick the cabin was just perfect. Plenty of room, very clean and a lot to do. We traveled to Pittsburg the first day on the ATV and down to Berlin the second day. We used the kayaks that were at the house as well as the paddle boat around the beautiful lake. We enjoyed fires at night by the water. We were even able to see a big moose up the road on route 26. Plenty of things to do including hunting, fishing and hiking. You will never be bored, that I can guarantee! We highly recommend staying at this cabin for a getaway. Would easily sleep 6 people comfortably. Heidi was very nice and pleasant to deal with. I will definitely be returning to this cabin when the next ATV season opens up. For those who snowmobile, you can access the trails directly from the cabin.

If you book this cabin, I can guarantee you will enjoy every minute of your stay. It was tough to pack up and pull away! Looking forward to next season.....

This lake house superseded our expectations. Rverything about this house was AMAZING!!

  • 5 of 5

The grounds, interior, and overall property were extremely clean and stocked. It was such a cozy feel, and the abundance of quietness on the property was very refreshing. This is an amazing place to recharge your batteries and refocus from a busy city life. Our family is already talking about planning another getaway. Heidi was extremely kind and helpful throughout from beginning till the end. I would love to keep this secret to myself, but at the same time, I will share how wonderful of a gem this place really is. Highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a fun, relaxing, and quiet getaway!

Wonderful Lakeside Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

Our week at Akers pond was wonderful. The cottage was well stocked and everything was functional. Heidi was amazing and very welcoming and attentive to our needs. One or two notes about the area...it is fairly remote; you are looking at at least a 30 minute drive for anything beyond basic groceries, however each of those drives takes you thru some truly beautiful country. The second thing, there is no ATT service in the area, only Verizon or Verizon compatible phones work.

Akers pond and the surrounding areas are beautiful, and kayaking, hiking, rafting, atvs, etc are all available within a reasonable distance.

An absolute gem if you want peace and quiet

  • 5 of 5

This place is located in a very quiet spot of a very small and quiet town in a very remote part of Northern New Hampshire. The property is on the outskirts of Errol, NH, right on Akers Pond. It is very secluded, overlooking the lake, that you can see right in front while doing dishes or having coffee at the dining table or on the front porch.

The house is extremely well thought out and built, it has absolutely everything, and it's kept meticulously clean and tidy by the hosts. It is also very warm -- we were there around the New Year when it was 12° F outside during a snowfall with a wind blowing from the lake -- it felt cozy inside while watching the snow fall on a frozen lake; we could easily make the house much warmer if we needed to -- they have a forced air heating system that works very fast. The hosts call it a cabin, but it really does feel like a house. Heidi Palmer is very warm, personable, and accommodating. It may sound like a cliche, but this place does feel as if you were at home.

For somebody looking for a very comfortable peace and quiet with a great view, you don't need to go any further. If, on the other hand, you want to speckle your vacation with some activity, we traveled to the Sunday River Skiing resort (Newry, ME) near Bethel, ME ~40 miles. There is a XC skiing and snowshoeing center on the same mountain, but there is also another specialized place in Bethel -- Carter's Cross Country Ski Center. Between Errol and Bethel, there are two state parks (Umbagog and Grafton Notch), so there are plenty of hiking opportunities there. This is all we had a chance to explore in 4 days we were there, I am sure there are plenty of other things in other directions.

One thing I would recommend for a place like that is to plan the trip ahead. There is no internet in the house, but on top of that, we had no AT&T cellular or data service at all, and no roaming was available. So, looking for information while there was difficult -- we drove to the town center and used the Wi-Fi in the public library (the library does not need to be open, the network and password are written on the front door). On the other hand, may be other providers would be available there, I don't have the experience to comment.

In conclusion, we really loved the place and enjoyed our time there. I would gladly recommend the place to any of my friends.

The cabin is located at a dead end, on Stump Cove, around a corner from Akers Pond. It is very private for these reasons. There is no end to hiking, biking, 4 wheeling, swimming, boating, as well as down hill and cross country skiing & snowmobiling in and around the area. You can park your trailer and snowmobile to the trail system directly from the cabin.
