About Michael Ross

My partner and I purchased this house in 1997 as a weekend escape from Manhattan. We have worked hard on it over the years to create a home, a place where we could go to unwind and relax. Due to work we left New York and currently reside in Atlanta. Since it is difficult for us to get to the Catskills we have decided to rent our home for the first time. This is not a typical party house rental, it is and continues to be home for us. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we have, and still do. There is a caretaker for the house nearby who looks over the premises and is nearby to handle any needs that may arise.

Why Michael Ross chose Catskills

The 15 acre property includes natural meadows and woods with extra wide walking paths that meander throughout the property allowing for a leisurely evening stroll or a great place for kids to play hide-n-seek or chase for hours on end. In addition, there is a regulation size croquet field great for any outdoors games, including a natural stone patio and plenty of Adirondack chairs for lounging and relaxing. The grounds have been professionally landscaped and are maintained to provide a natural habitat for native plants and wildlife. The setting is very private, extremely quiet and located on a dead-end road. The few neighboring houses can not to be seen.

Beautiful home!

I can't say enough about this house. It was gorgeous and the views were amazing! The house itself was beautiful and clean and had everything we could have ever needed. The property has winding paths and the landscaping is well kept. We all had a great time - wish we could've stayed longer to enjoy it more.

Clean, comfortable, spacious home with fantastic mountain views!

  • 5 of 5

Amazing trip! The house was very comfortable and well kept with all modern conveniences. The views were absolutely breath- taking!

Our four year old had a fantastic time running around the perfectly landscaped trails surrounding the property. As homeowners ourselves, we were quite impressed with the obvious care put into the home.

An all-around great trip. We would definitely like to stay again.

Thank you Michael!!

Breathtaking views and meticulously kept!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing home! I was looking for a secluded mountain getaway with views of the fall foliage and this house had it all. It is impeccably maintained and stocked with everything you could need for a vacation (kitchen supplies, board games, extra blankets, firewood. The amenities are high-end (which can be tough to find on this site) and very very clean. The house is perfectly designed with beautiful art and textiles. Michael was a wonderful host. He always responded quickly and he even had fresh flowers out in the rooms for our arrival when he learned it was for a special occasion.

However the best part about the experience was the grounds. The views from the home are stunning and the pictures truly do not do it justice. I could not have been more pleased and cannot wait to return. I highly recommend this property!

We are laid back people...while being picky about a few certain things. This rental met our expectations on these items. One of our needed items is nature/views. We are into the mountains and have traveled to Colorado, the Tetons, Glacier, the Smokies and Blue Ridge Mtns. This view from this cabin was really beautiful...what made this property especially nice is the amount of walk-able trails that are a part of the property. Another item we must have is cleanliness...and yes it was very clean. Another must have is comfort...we found it to be quite comfortable indeed. The minute you walk in the door - it speaks "welcome" and "enjoy"! Some bonus items...privacy and the artistic elements which were a part of the house and grounds...thank you Michael!

Fantastic Get Away

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful house. Our daughter's wedding was in Roxbury on August 1st. The Art/design house was our home base and welcomed retreat after all of the festivities. The views are breathtaking from the deck. The house is well cared for and very well-maintained. We loved the

attention to detail not only evident in the house, but on the property as well. Mr. Ross is a very attentive host.

I think the best think we can say about our stay is that it felt like home. It was that comfortable.

We hope to return next summer.

Location

Car: necessary

Located 2-1/2 hours from the George Washington Bridge, the house sits on top of a mountain ridge with 15+ mile views within the Watershed Area of New York City. Close by is the Catskill State Park with endless trails for great hiking. The peacefulness and quiet along with the abundant nature and wildlife are the main attractions and beauty of the area. Relax, hike, golf, shop for antiques, or try fly fishing for fresh trout in one of the spring fed mountain streams. There are several quaint small towns nearby to explore, shop and have lunch. A must-see is Opus 40, one man's incredible life earth-work sculpture.
