Overview

About the property

Chateau / Country House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)

Thank goodness we were spared from the wrath of the recent Hurricane Irma with no damage to our home. We had a lot of debris, and cleanup has been done. We are up and running and ready to book your stay.

The many facets of the lake make the visit worthwhile alone. As the sun rises the water may change from the dark of night to the golden yellows, oranges and vivid pinks with hints of turquoise and blue. The lake may be so still that it can mirror the reflections of a great egret or a great blue heron gently feeding in the grasses and plants; but, within minutes can change to the vivid blues of a cloudless day, with white caps rolling in from the breezes stirring over the lake. Storms can be watched dancing around the lake, turning the water to the grays of the clouds. Clear nights are perfect for star gazing, or watching the moon rise over the water. At other times the lake can be so still that the stars reflect off of the water. A full moon rising over the water offers a magical view with a magnificence that could take ones breath away. The rise and fall of the waves, can break the moonlight into a thousand facets each dancing and shimmering across the water.

The gentle breezes bouncing off the water allow the palms to sing one of nature’s sweetest lullabies. The quiet rustling of the fronds can easily sing one into a deep and relaxing sleep. As the sun bounces over the horizon in the morning, the bird songs, along with the lullaby of the palms, can bring one quietly into the new morning and fully refreshed to face the day. Having coffee on the porch, along with the breathtaking beauty of the morning is a site to behold. The ospreys are probably out feeding, and one may hear the cry of an eagle. There are red headed woodpeckers, humming birds, butterflies and so much more. The lake with all its beauty is shared for the enjoyment of all.

This beautiful home is located on 2/3 of an acre on the banks of the beautiful Lake George in Central Florida. We offer an executive home. The yard is fenced and animals are allowed.

Step through the front door and into the living room which is furnished with a black leather sectional designed for comfort and relaxation, slate coffee table and accent table, a big screen plasma TV, as well as DVD player. The window coverings are from Mexican blankets that add to the rustic splash of color to the room. The east end of the living room is walled by a 12 foot sliding glass door, which opens into a screened porch looking over the lake and pool area. The porch is furnished with 4 sitting chairs and a black dinner table with six wicker type chairs.

Leaving the living room, step through the double door opening into the eat-in kitchen, which features a pub style table and chairs, hickory cabinets, almond porcelain double sinks, set into the peacock green granite counter tops with a tile backsplash. The kitchen is compactly designed having everything within easy reach. There are updated appliances including a flat top digital stove, dishwasher, and refrigerator with ice maker and ice/water dispenser. The kitchen is fully stocked with all non-food items, such as ceramic dinnerware, flatware, pots and pans, bowls, utensils and bake ware. There is a coffee pot, blender, and mixer. The slide in range is installed in the base cabinets that divide the kitchen and sitting room. This design allows the cook not only to be able to peer out through the French doors, once again viewing the lake and pool, but also to be able to interact with family or friends in the sitting area while preparing meals and snacks. Matched tile is the main flooring throughout the home

A two sided fireplace graces the sitting room off the kitchen as well as the living room. The sitting room houses a love seat and two recliners designed as a multi-functioning room including a reading area, a quiet room, visiting with friends and family away from the main stream living area, or keeping the cook company to name a few. The fireplace in the sitting room is faced with stone, laid by a master stone layer local to the area, and a solid wood mantel purchased at a local lumber mill, and designed for this home.

The stairway and master bedroom upstairs have bamboo hardwood floors. This master suite offers a king size four poster bed with luxury linens, a quilt comforter and matching pillow shams. The bed has a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress. There are night tables and lamps on either side of the bed. The room has chest of drawer as well as a cedar lined closet with a mirrored pocket door. The master bath upstairs hosts an oversized shower with three shower heads and a bench. This shower is tiled in slate from the shower floor, up the walls and the bench all the way to the ceiling. The entire bathroom floor is tiled with two inch slate tiles, as well as the sixty inch vanity counter top which houses two hand painted Mexican sinks. The vanity is taller than normal in order to cause less bending. The mirror over the vanity has a dark hand painted frame complimenting the slate, hand painted sinks and the dark wood of the vanity. The home also boasts a screened porch off the master suite upstairs, offering a quiet nook away from everything, overlooking the pool and the lake, furnished with lake worn wicker, to complement the lake life style. There is a coffee table as well. This is a great place to snooze, read or just relax. This porch offers an amazing view of the lake below. It is the best vantage point on the property for lake gazing.

The second bedroom is an oversized bedroom on the ground floor furnished with a kings size bed, a dresser, nightstand and chest of drawers. There are French doors that open to the lake front. This room has ceiling fans and matched bedroom lamps in the dragon fly stained glass pattern. This bed also has a Simmons Beauty Rest mattress for the ultimate in support.

The third bedroom is a smaller bedroom with bunk beds and an antique chest of drawers.

Most rooms have ceiling fans. Internet and cable are provided. The downstairs bathroom is tile, with the vanity and linen closet built out of hickory. The bathrooms are stocked with towels. The vanity has a cultured marble top with double scalloped sinks. There is an oversized shower with 2 shower heads, a shower bench and enclosed with clear glass shower doors. This is also a cabana bath, with a door leading out to the pool and lake area. This bath is also home to the full size stackable washer and dryer.

Matched tile is the main flooring throughout the home. There is a covered deck in the back yard as well as a swimming pool with lounge chairs. The pool has a swim out that allows some seating facing the lake. A great way to spend an afternoon! The St. Johns River flows North through the middle of Lake George on its trek to Jacksonville, where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean. Lake George is roughly 7 miles wide and 13 miles long, with numerous springs feeding it. Wildlife is abundant around the lake. Eagles and Osprey both nest in the surrounding areas and feed from the lake. The lake offers not only beauty, but also an array of lake and ocean life such as blue crabs, shrimp, bass, brim, as well as an occasional manatee that maybe be seen in the springs or the runs from the lake to the springs. Remember even though this home is in a private area, wildlife can be seen from time to time including herons, egrets, raccoons, foxes, squirrels, black bear, owls, wild turkeys and more.

Salt Springs offers a few restaurants and a small grocery store, a Subway, gas stations, and a small post office. Salt Springs is located about 7 miles north of the home.

Orlando is roughly 1 and ½ hours south and, of course, offers all of the theme parks as well as shopping.

St. Augustine is an easy day trip to the northeast. A place where one can enjoy exploring historic locations such as, Castillo de San Marcos built from 1672 thru 1695, which is a reminder of the strength of the Spanish rule in the New World, or the St. Augustine Lighthouse built in 1874 and its accompanying museum open year round. Another must see, is the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum. Even though we only listed three historical sites, please remember that St. Augustine is one of our oldest cities, with too much history to share in the space allowed. Other activities available are deep sea fishing, surfing, swimming and sun bathing. St. Augustine is a wealth of history open to one and all. Great shopping is also available at The St. Augustine Premium Outlets.

Let’s not forget Daytona Beach, which is Home of the Daytona International Speedway. With an easy hour or so drive, you could be sitting in the middle of two of the biggest races of the season. Or how about bike week? The roads to and from Daytona are all welcome to travelers for bike week. There is nothing like a scenic trip through the forest on a bike.

Cozy well appointed home in an outdoor lovers oasis!

  • 5 of 5

This home provided everything we needed for our friends and family to enjoy a nice getaway! The views of the sunset each morning from the master are incredible! The screened porch off the master was a wonderful place to start the day. The kids enjoyed the pool and feeding the koi fish in the pond each day. Dan was a great host and always responded to my messages within minutes. Thanks again Dan!

Good times and Great views!

  • 5 of 5

First off let me say, we had a GREAT time with family. The guys went fishing every morning at 6 a.m.

Dan was easy to contact and prompt with answers!

Upon arriving at the house, we opened the door to a musty spelling house. Everything looked clean, but the smell was a bit much. I took 2 Yankee candles, which I left there for the next arrivals. I believe that a dehumidifier or two for that big house "on the water" would be a good thing. Otherwise, everything was a stated on the website.

The gas grill was a mess. We opened it a day before we needed it to check it out and there were hundreds of ANTS all over the grate. It was filthy and COATED with leftover food. We burned and scrapped it off and then burned it again to clean it. Some utensils were out there and they were dirty too. We brought them in, cleaned them up and put them in the drawer in the kitchen for the next people.

All of the next items are an FYI for anyone else coming in. There was: garbage bags, trash bags, dishwasher det., dishwashing det., paper towels, salt/pepper, coffee filters, some spices, hand soap in bathrooms, t-paper in both bathrooms with extra. Plenty of bath towels! 2 big crockpots and of all things, a Bundt pan. (My sister brought her own) Blender, and so many other items you might need.

There is NO bedroom door (everything you say or do can be heard in the livingroom) or blinds/curtains for the upstairs bedroom, which is not a problem for many others (GREAT VIEW), but we were surprised and dressed/undressed in bathroom which we THOUGHT had no door but found a pocket door (hidden surprise)! Don't push it all the way in or you will be digging it back out! Instructions for GARBAGE: You can only get rid of it EARLY on Wed or Sat. up the street. If you miss those 2 days and try to take it to the dump in Salt Springs (recycling center address inside white notebook on coffee tabel) there are only open certain hours/days. 7-5 m/w/f/s CLOSED TUES/THURS. The boat dock is the short one right in back, NOT the long one you can see in the pool picture on the website. Marina down on main road to launch boat from 10.00 a day.

The WHOLE house was nice, well kept, great living room couch for ALL of us! We ate outside on the screened porch for every meal. Watched the turtles sunbathe on a piece of palm floating in the water. Relaxed in the pool while looking out at the lake. All in all...a WONDERFUL 4 DAYS!

Thank you, Dan and family, for sharing your lake front home!

Loved it!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in a beautiful house with wonderful views! We loved feeding the fish in the Koi pond and swimming in the pool late in the afternoon after a good day of boating. Loved that it is so close to Silver Glen and Salt Springs. We will definitely rent this house again. Thanks Dan for being so accommodating and allowing us to rent your home.

Lovely setting but home and grounds in need of cleaning.

  • 2 of 5

We had issues upon arrival and the owner sent someone to do the immediate clean up needed (left over mess in the fridge; dirty ashtrays). The owner provided an extra night with no charge to compensate for the trouble. He also referenced moving to a new maid service however a deep cleaning indoors and out is needed.

The pool is great. Our kids loved fishing off the small dock and looked forward to feeding the fish each morning. The home and outdoor area layout are nice, the setting is beautiful and very close to Silver Glen, Juniper and Salt Springs.
