Published in National Geographic as one of their top 50 adventure towns to visit, New Paltz is a great place for exploring. Mohonk preserve and Minnewaska State part offer 25,000 acres of hiking, biking, horsebackriding, and of course world-renowned rock climbing “the Gunks.” There are numerous farm stands and apple orchards to visit where they frequently have ‘pick your own’ options for a playful afternoon. The Hudson Valley wine trail also includes Robibero (1/2 mile away), Whitecliff, and Adair wineries all in close proximity. There are spa’s to visit, numerous shops and art stores, and wonderful restaurants. Please take some time to read the book in the house that I have put together on the areas activities.
****Please do not smoke inside the property, and inquire about additional cleaning fee if you come with your animals!

About Shawn Pressley
I am originally from Toronto Canada , but have lived in the States since '99. My job had me living out of a suitcase for many years before I could finally call Manhattan my home, where after many years of living in the crazy city, I found myself some green space!
Shawn Pressley purchased this House in 2000
Why Shawn Pressley chose New Paltz
I happened to have been invited up to New Paltz for the weekend and it became love at first sight. The area has so much to offer, from hiking , to kayaking, horse back riding , sky diving , culinary delights with many quality restaurants opening up around town, Mohonk Mountain House & Spa, or simply, the easy drive out of the city for some peace, fresh air and tranquility. The area itself captured my heart with the Catskill mountains as a backdrop, and the every changing Wallkill river at it's base. I loved living here, I loved having my horses in the back yard and the dogs running around the property.

A great place to stay in New Paltz, NY
This house was exactly as described and more. Spacious, clean, equipped and picturesque. It is a short drive to the quaint town center and Mohon Mountain House. We will definitely come back and experience it in other seasons.
Five women stayed for the weekend. Important to us, the living room/kitchen/dining areas were great for gathering. The house is in a good location and easily accessible. Property manager responded promptly to a small issue with the bathroom door. Has a nice outdoor deck with seating which we enjoyed. The beds were comfortable and the linens (sheets, towels, etc.) were lovely.
On the down side, the bedrooms lacked storage space. Downstairs bedroom had one available drawer and no hanging space. Similar situation in the other bedrooms. Out on the deck was a large dead potted plant; the outside stairs and deck needed some TLC. I assume it’s no fault of the owner, but the water was unpleasantly soft for me.
Great house and location!
This was a great house for a family get away. Shawn was accommodating and helpful with our personal requests. We would stay again when in the area.
We loved the house, the path to the river, and the giant mirror in one of the bedrooms!
Terrific find among New Paltz properties
I enjoyed my short stay at Shawn's home. Everything from the location to the property to the customer service Shawn provided was outstanding. Whenever I look for a home to rent I strive to find a comfortable place. It's hard to know if the home is truly comfortable by the photos, but Shawn's home was. The living area which includes the kitchen and the living room made the experience terrific. I took complete advantage of the deck, having my breakfast there every morning. I would rent the home again especially if I can do so for a longer period of time.
Shawn was responsive and flexible. The home was nice and reflected the description.
