About Bill Metzger

Bill Metzger is originally from Oklahoma, but has lived in Virginia for the past 35 years. Now semi-retired I love living on the Chesapeake Bay and near the small but charming town of Mathews.

Why Bill Metzger chose USA

The house has expansive views from every room in the house. At least 110 years old this house has weathered many storms and hurricanes. It was a working farm. In this area most farmers also were watermen with fishing boats.

The house has been modernized to today's high standards yet continues to maintain it's coastal farm house charm. It has everything a coastal property should have. A quiet slide into the cove for kayaks, boat loading ramp and boathouse that can accommodate two 36' craft.

What makes this house unique

The first time I saw this property, it was love at first sight. Nothing beats the expansive views and when the sun is at a certain angle the water definitely looks blue -- thus, Blue Water Haven.

It is a haven from all the worries of the world. Although if you want to stay in touch with the world we have WiFi and TV's in every room.

Love Staying Here!

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd stay at this beautiful home, we enjoyed our stay once again! This home is beautifully maintained and the furnishings are very comfortable! Our family enjoyed sitting in the living, getting cozy by the fire, and reminiscing about the past, having breakfast together at the big dining room table, and waking up to beautiful views of the sun rising! I would definitely recommend this home to any one who wants a nice big home, privacy, and all the comforts of home and so much more!

We did eat out at a restaurant in Matthew; Richardson's Cafe' (I believe) it's a small restaurant, but the food is very fresh and VERY Good! We made a reservations because it was 12 of us meeting there, and the food and service was great! They serve all kinds of food!

Bill was great to work with and a joy to talk to, always very pleasant and friendly! We hope that we'll be able to visit again during the warmer months, so we can enjoy all that the home has to offer.

Owner's Response: Thanks Kim for the very kind review. And I do hope you will be able to make it back this way this summer. And also thanks for the heads up on the bathroom situation - I will definitely past it to the proper parties. Take care and hope to see you sometime soon.

5 star rating for Blue Water Haven

  • 5 of 5

Our 8th annual women's Discover Virginia trip was even more terrific because Blue Water Haven was our home base for exploring the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula the week after Thanksgiving. We each appreciated having our own bedroom and private space and then great gathering spaces, too, in front of the living room gas fireplace, dining room, and breakfast room.

We especially enjoyed the tasteful Christmas decorations throughout the house!

Bill was a terrific host from our first contact to make the reservation in Jan. 2016 to our Dec. 2 checkout. I hope to return with my grandchildren so that they can enjoy all the outdoor amenities available at Blue Water Haven.

Absolutely fabulous retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We just arrived home from spending four fabulous days in Moon. The Blue Water Haven retreat is outstanding, the views are breathtaking from every room, and our family loved every minute that we spent together there! We are hoping to return when the weather is warmer so that we can take advantage of the bicycles, the pool, the kayaks, and canoes. Bill Metzger is a gracious host and everything was just as advertised. We highly recommend this beautiful home and can't wait to return!

Perfect for our family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time that we had ever vacationed together as a family. Our group included my 87-year-old father, and our four-year-old granddaughter. This house was just perfect for all of us. What a wonderful setting, right on the Chesapeake. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool, and nothing thrilled me more then to take my adult kids out on the water for their first kayaking and canoeing experience.

The house is totally equipped for any cooking you may choose to do, which we did… Or for grilling, which we also did. We totally enjoyed the large living room which was spacious enough, and comfortable enough to accommodate all nine of us.

The only downside, and this shouldn't reflect on the house itself or the wonderful owner, is that there are very few dining out options nearby. The few places in nearby Matthews where we did eat, we're very good. For slightly more upscale dining, you will probably need to travel a good 20 minutes away or more, for additional options.

A Chesapeake Jewel

  • 5 of 5

On September 17th our family came together for a long awaited sibling reunion. A year before we researched and chose "Blue Water Haven" a beautiful old farmhouse that the owners renovated. The grounds are just beautiful and the inside is furnished with warm colors and beautiful furniture. The owner Bill, met us upon our arrival and showed us around the house and grounds and made us feel very welcome. The pool was lovely and the view from every window in the house is awesome. We enjoyed the fire pit the last night we were there, wishing we could stay a little longer. If you want a place that will give you beautiful views and peaceful relaxation you will have it at "Blue Water Haven". Thanks Bill, hope we will have a chance to enjoy Blue Water Haven again in the future. Your Texas Friends!

Beautiful Waterfront Setting

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful waterfront property, with panoramic view of Milford haven and surrounding water. Property was luxurious with all the amenities one could want on the water including private boathouse, swimming pool, and well appointed furnishings inside and out. If you like the salt water then seriously consider this rental.
