East Capitol 4 Bedroom House

Great East Capitol house with spectacular view of monument, capitol building and the RFK stadium. The house is newly remodeled and furnished. Everyone who visits the nation’s capital should have an affordable secured and comfortable place to stay.

The house is just few blocks from endless array of shopping, dining, banks and grocery stores. Free internet access, WIFI, cable TV on 60 inches television. Towels, clean bed sheets, full kitchen, utensils, microwave, iron and ironing board. Wash and dryer is available.

Clean house with 4 bedrooms and 4 beds: 1 king size, 2 queen size and 1 full size bed. The house can accommodate about 10 people conveniently.

We do offer a significant discount for monthly stay. We work very hard to keep our nightly rate competitive, cheaper than any hotel and more beautiful than a lot of them.

Metro station is few blocks from the home. Bus stop is about 1 minute from the house. The bus schedule is posted on the wall in the house.

Off street parking is free, it can accommodate about 4 cars. Large and open space for various activities.

Memorable Vacation

  • 3 of 5

First off, I need to say that Tunde was a pleasure to work with. He answered every call & question promptly even when we called on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve when the WiFi went down (5 teens were frantic!). The house itself is an old row home that looks just like the pictures. It could really use some TLC & freshening up with paint. It has narrow, steep stairways, tiny bathrooms & a miniscule kitchen. Two people cannot be in the kitchen at the same time. There is NO counter space. We had to plug the crockpot in the dining room because there's no room available in the kitchen. A lot of the outlets in the bedrooms don't work, so this was an issue with all the teens trying to charge devices. We had to get extension cords, which was no big deal. All of this is easy to deal with when you consider the age of the home. It's a really old house. The sheets & towels were clean & fresh. The bathrooms were clean. We had no complaints there.

The reason for only 3 stars is the neighborhood. The police were at the house next door 3 times in one night for a party, arresting people every time. Police would revisit that house a few more times during our visit. Another night there was a shooting at the liquor store across the highway, which had police lights flashing for hours (no blinds in the bedrooms, only decorative curtains). On our 4th night we were woken up by police pounding on the front door looking for whoever had called 911 about a fire. There was a fire truck lit up & police cars in front of the house that left after my son assured him we didn't call & everyone was sleeping. Every single night had sirens screaming & people yelling ALL NIGHT.

That being said, we didn't encounter any issues when out & about. We shopped at the Safeway & CVS. We had pizza & Chinese delivered. Everyone we met during the day was very nice. We did drive to the Minnesota Ave. Metro Station & park for the day, taking the Metro into the city. Parking is 5 dollars a day. The house had character. The neighborhood was questionable.

Family time.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in DC, largely because of this amazing house. The house was even nicer in person. It was clean with fresh linens and towels in each room. The house is an old row style home with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It worked great for our family of five adults and 3 kids.

The subway is in walking distance and we walked there each morning. We did however uber home in the evenings. The living room was set up with three couches and a big screen TV. It was perfect for our family to relax after a busy day sight seeing. It was extra nice to be able to cook dinner each nign (safe way 2 blocks away) and not have to eat out. The house was completely fenced-in and had enough room for the kids to run around. All in all it is a great house with alot to offer.

Owner very unreliable

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately we received the access data for the house only 24 hours before arrival, after many telephone calls.

On arrival we noticed several flaws:

Toilet leaking, shower curtain moldy, Bathrooms dirty.

The owner did not answer for us, only on the day of departure he did accuse us that he did not know when to stop the shortcomings.

Supposedly he would do it after our departure!

All in all, not a nice stay in Washington.

cleaning is necessary and the blankets shall be changed, those looks old and dirty.

I felt very embarrassed with my family about the bases in the house, like blankets, we found hair on those. The appliances looks dirty and old. the garage was very convenient.

Enjoyable stay

  • 3 of 5

Rented this property for a girls weekend trip so it was great to have 2 bathrooms and multiple bedrooms, however it could use some TLC the house itself was clean but could use some freshening up (maybe open some windows although a lot of the screens were missing) and alot of the outlets did not work. I can say it was worth the price we paid the house looked exactly like the photos and only about 20/25 minutes away from major attractions (Fords theater, downtown D.C.) we encountered no problems during our visit and would consider returning should we want to stay just outside of downtown D.C. Thank you Tunde for a pleasureable visit.
