Enjoy a quiet and peaceful visit in a hills neighborhood that offers stunning views of the San Francisco Bay, the San Francisco skyline, the Oakland skyline, the Oakland port, Mt. Tamalpais, the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Each room in the home, except for one bedroom and the bathroom, has beautiful views of the SF Bay. You will see the lights of AT&T park on game nights across the Bay.

This contemporary hillside retreat is a one-of-a-kind work-of-art, with hand plastered walls, and vintage kitchen. The kitchen, dining room, and living room were created by a renowned interior designer, Deborah Jacobs.

The kitchen is fully furnished with cookware, utensils, and place settings. The apartment has new, easy-to-open windows. The bathroom is newly remodeled with granite and tile.

We have chosen all furnishings with your comfort in mind.

A large deck across the entire rental offers the perfect vantage point to enjoy the views while cooking on the outdoor grill (propane provided) and enjoying a meal at the large bistro table. Relax into a glass of wine or cup of tea on the generous, cushy deck seating with side tables.

Located on a quiet one-block residential street, the home has the feeling of a retreat, quiet and peaceful. Entry to the rental is from the street, and feels like a house rather than an apartment. The expansive back deck overlooks a lush garden.

In the garden are 2 decks where you may lounge, meditate, or work-out. One deck has a hot tub and seating area, covered by a trumpet-vined pergola surrounded by lush vegetation. A second "work out & yoga" deck is beyond the hot tub deck where you may practice yoga,, (weights and pull-up bar provided, specifically set up for P90X), . Beyond this "work out" deck is a paver-covered meditation area overlooked by a beautiful statue of Guanyin, goddess of mercy.

The rental has 3 flat screen (living room & each bedroom) TVs with ATT UVerse, 750+ channels with HBO, Showtime, and other premium channels.

The living room has a gas heater-rated fireplace , flat screen TV, DVD player, desk with easily-accessible power for charging your electronic devices, leather sofa with leather bench, and two swivel/rocking chairs. Free Wfi is provided. A large DVD selection is provided. Travel brochures and travel books about the local area are plentiful.

The dining room table is set up to seat 6, and can expand to comfortably seat 8.

One bedroom has a king Tempurpedic bed offering a view of the San Francisco Bay from the bed. The bed has2 side tables and lamps for night-time readers. This bedroom has a flat screen tv, a comfortable tv-watching chair, and a reading alcove with reading light, and a Restoration Hardware arm chair. From this bedroom a French door opens onto a curved deck.

The 2nd bedroom has a Queen pillow-top mattress that is topped by a Pacific Coast feather bed. There are 2 night stands with reading lights. This bedroom also has a flat screen TV.

All bedding is high quality white cotton. Each bed has 4 pillows to give you choice of firmness. Each bed has a white cotton down duvet with a white cotton duvet cover. All bedding, including the duvet cover, are laundered at each departure cleaning.

Utmost care is given to the laundry of all towels and linens, and to the overall cleanliness of the rental.

Parking is un-metered no-restrictions street parking.

The location’s proximity to the 580 Freeway and the 880 Freeway gives you fast access to many local attractions and day trips to San Francisco, Napa Valley, Muir Woods, Route 1, Santa Cruz etc.

You are only a 23 minute drive from San Francisco, but you may prefer to take the scenic ferry that will deliver you to the SF Ferry Building (and its many wonderful markets) or to Fisherman’s wharf. 15 minutes from Oakland Airport! 37 minutes from- San Francisco International Airport. 10 minutes to the closest BART station.

Local Oakland attractions include Lake Merritt, Jack London Square, Grand Lake Theater (movies), the Paramount Theater (live music), the Fox Theater, Yoshi's Jazz, the Oracle, the Oakland Coliseum, and many excellent restaurants, bars, and coffee shops.

Free WiFi

Appliances in kitchen – refrigerator, range, microwave (new dish sponge at each guest change-ver, detergent, paper towels, garbage bags, clean dish towels provided)

Fully equipped kitchen – dishes, cutlery, glassware, pots and pans

Full -size washer, dryer and laundry closet (detergent and softener supplied)

An extensive library includes many travel books (lots on Northern California), children's books, novels, and books related to philosophy, political science, and art.

Animals are never allowed in the rental.

The owners lives downstairs with an elderly cat. There is complete space separation between the units with no shared entrances. The owners are rather reclusive but friendly, always available for any of the rentals' needs. We own a fireplace retail business which means we work regularly and otherwise travel frequently. We sometimes use the hot tub and practice yoga on one of the lower garden decks.

About Dee Fisher

The photo is of me in front of the house. My husband and I travel frequently and whenever possible we rent a vacation home rather than stay in a hotel. We value comfort and convenience and keep in mind our own expectations and preferences when furnishing our rental. We will always choose a home with a garden, and a hot tub is always a bonus. After a day of touring and sight seeing, we enjoy sitting in a beautiful outside setting, enjoying each other and a glass of wine. We want to provide you with the best possible lodging experience to complement your enjoyment of the Bay Area. We are huge fans of the Bay Area and enjoy its offerings of beautiful nature and urban delights as though we are tourists. My husband was a frequent Bay Area visitor (from New England) when I met him here through mutual friends 12 years ago. After I spent two cold north eastern winters with him, he came to his senses and moved to the temperate climate of the Bay Area. We married 10 years ago, and he has no regrets about relocating!

Dee Fisher purchased this apartment in 1992

Why Dee Fisher chose Oakland

*Sunny, warm climate, no fog! *Views *Garden *Peaceful and Serene *Central proximity to the Bay Area, San Francisco, Napa Valley, and other tourist attractions. Within walking distance of Mills College. Close-knit neighborhood of middle class professionals. Peaceful and quiet.

What makes this apartment unique

Proximity to Bay Area/Napa tourist destinations. Very romantic and private for a love-nest get-away. Wonderful home for families visiting relatives. Great for Grandparents!

This House is Why Hotels Should Be Worried

  • 5 of 5

The owners have created one of the best VRBO units we have enjoyed in our ten years of VRBO'ing. Everything on the site is true but you have to see it in person to experience the full effect of California peace and tranquility. The beds are great, the rooms are lovely, the kitchen is very easy to use and even the knives are sharp. No Ikea trash here. Plus, the vintage stove is adorable and easy to cook on. The owners were in residence downstairs but we heard not a peep from them. It took us three days to figure out they were around. "Hotel silent rock," she told me was installed between floors. Freeway access is easy, great food is nearby, and both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate are on display for your steady contemplation. Are you looking for a place to stay in the Bay area? Grab this house right now. This is the standard you'll judge all other VRBO rentals by in the future.

Delightful, stylish, comfy home away from home!

  • 5 of 5

The owners have made this a very delightful and welcoming home to stay and relax while enjoying the sites. There are many little extras that make the stay so enjoyable from the spectacular views, comfortable chairs on the deck overlooking their delightful yard to the well appointed home. I didn't want for a thing while staying!! Definitely will stay again!

Just perfect

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time there, especially that deck was an amazing place to spend the mornings for breakfast and evenings for a cold drink after a day of sightseeing. We had a lot of different accommodations on our trip (L.A., Williams, Vegas, Yosemite and Santa Barbara), from simple motels to 5 star luxury hotels, and that apartment was the cleanest and best maintained from all of them. Thanks again from the whole group, I'm a hundred percent sure that anyone of us will remember these days forever.

Wonderful place to stay in Oakland/SF!

  • 5 of 5

We are 4 friends who stayed in this appartment/house for 5 nights. Very nice and clean with high comfort and standard. Fantastic terrace with view over San Fransisco Bay. High privacy, nice with the tub in the garden.

Easy to go downtown SF, we either parked the car in Oakland and took the ferry (nice trip, 7 dollar oneway), or parked the car close to fishermans warf in SF.

Wonderful accommodations!

  • 5 of 5

When we walked into Dee's vacation rental, we were ecstatic for our good fortune. The home was beautiful and immaculate. Just the sheer pleasure of being in this environment added to our trip, from the simple joy of starting the morning with a cup of coffee on the back porch, enjoying the gorgeous view, to catching up on email (& maybe a bit of netflix) at the end of the day with high quality wifi. (I've stayed in many places that claim that they have wifi when you couldn't get reception to save your life -- so I appreciate when the wifi works well.) We valued all of Dee's little touches, such as a really well-developed guidebook to the area that helped us enjoy our time. Dee was accessible before, during, and after the trip -- always warm and professional. I would be eager to stay in this rental again and I would certainly encourage my friends to do the same. Thanks, Dee!!

Notes:
Panoramic view of the San Francisco Bay and San Francisco and Oakland city skylines. Beautiful, serene lush garden with sitting areas, meditation area, and pergola with adjacent decks. A meditation patio, over-looked by a statue of the compassionate Quan Yin, allows you to sit and contemplate the beauty of a redwood framed by an arbor. Our favorite backyard being is a huge poplar tree --a condo for many birds and other wildlife-- that we think may be the largest in the Bay Area. When it has its leaves, its swaying creates a beautiful music of chattering leaves and serves up afternoon shade for the deck. In almost every season, there is some fresh fruit: plums, apples, figs, or blackberries.
