Le Vele (The Sail) is a newly built building of 3 luxury apartments. Available for rental is this top floor penthouse unit which combines contemporary design, ergonomic furniture and fixtures, and the privilege and unique opportunity to be directly on Lake Como with a 180 degree view of the lake and surrounding mountains (the Alps). A private elevator takes you from the underground garage (2 spaces available for you) directly into the apartment where 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, a modern fully equipped kitchen and large open living/dining room with rooftop terrace overlooking the lake awaits you. All new equipment, such as washer and dryer, dishwasher, etc promise you reliable and easy to use conveniences.
What a fantastic place far beyond our expectations. We have been in many places and for the first time the pictures were not exaggerated. This might be the best place we have ever visited.
We were met by the kind owners – Cecile and Rudolf who had prepared every little detail to make our stay as pleasant as possible. To be honest, we did not get all the details as we were too amazed by the apartment and especially the large terrace and the wonderful view. The apartment seems larger than shown on pictures and the two individual sleeping sections with separate bathrooms worked very well for us as a family of 4. All rooms have a stunning view of the lake and large sliding doors. The terrace and the view is without any comparison in this price range. The terrace has automatic sun blinds making it the perfect place during the entire day. The undergrown parking is another detail that makes this place fantastic. You don’t need to think about your car during your stay as it is locked up in a cold garage and with the lake ferries connecting the most interesting places along the lake, you only need your car if you need to visit the mountains or to Milan for shopping. The ferry port is within a couple of minutes in walking distance and an easy way to go around on the lake. The city or Argegno is small but with a very nice square with nice restaurants in different price ranges and quality, bars and the ferry terminal. For your convenience, Rudolf and Cecile had prepared a booklet with things to do in the area as well as a review of the different restaurants. Try out the restaurant La Piazetta on the square – which we found the best. Also there is a small bakery/grocery just next to the square you can use to prepare breakfast. We will also recommend to visit the boat rental Turati and take a cruise on the lake. While you are there, ask Thomas Turati about his boat racing. It appears that he is the former European champion in Fomula 1 boat racing and he will be more than happy to tell you his story.
Finally a comment on the church bells. We had a concern before our stay, but this was not at all an issue. On the contrary we found it very charming and a nice experience to listen to the different tunes it plays during the week. It also helped us not to sleep in and get up in the morning to enjoy another memorable day in the apartment. Thank you Cecile and Rudolf for making our vacation special, we will definitely visit you again in the near future. Marianne & Tom, DK
Our vacation in Argegno couldn't have been better. We were greeted by the owner who proudly provided details for our stay. Approaching the unit was via a very good road direct to the sea. The underground parking is immaculate with elevator access direct to the unit. What a nice surprise. The views were spectacular; complete with rainbows on three occasions during our two week stay. The unit was immaculate with every amenity one could hope for in a vacation rental. Although the owners live a few kilometers away, there was no need to request additional amenities or information. The information provided (in several languages) was thorough and helpful.
The ferry service is but a 2-3 minute walk across from the small town center and takes you throughout Lake Como.
One tiny glitch was addressed immediately. The dryer quit working and a new one was delivered within one day of noting the problem. Amazing. Several individuals have noted the ringing of the church bells while staying at the unit. These are stopped at 10:00 p.m. and begin at 7:00 a.m. Although they seem to be constant throughout the day, (one every half hour on the 30 and the number of the time of day each hour), they seemed to add to the ambiance. For those with private boats, there is a private dock with access directly from the unit. Boat rentals are located nearby. Superb location and services, one could hope that the pictures represented the unit more completely. We would definitely recommend this rental property to anyone who is visiting Lake Como. The apartment was excellent - modern, clean with a beautiful terrace. Located in a beautiful village, walking distance to the ferry, cafes and restaurants. We will be back...
We stayed here for a week in June and had a wonderful time. The apartment is perfectly located right on the lake with convenient walking to everything in Argegno, lake ferries, and a funicular up to Pigra, where there are also a couple of lunch places and access to a network of hiking trails. It is very well equipped with every amenity in perfect condition, two terraces with automatic sun awnings and a private elevator entry. The owners are very gracious and helpful, and were very easy to deal with in making arrangements. In case you are not familiar with Argegno, it is a beautiful small town with a few restaurants, bakery, small grocery and fruit/vegetable market, excellent wine bar, the area's best gelato. The church is right next door, so you should probably like bells (which are silent at night of course). We highly recommend this apartment.
We were two couples in their seventies who rented this apartment for a fortnight. The apartment was exactly as described: absolute waterfront with exceptional 180 degree views up and down the lake, very well furnished, very secure with keyed access via elevator (as well as off-street entry), clean and well-maintained. The owner and his wife are charming and helped settling-in, including setting up the TV/DVD/Sound/WiFi systems. There is an excellent booklet giving detailed information on all appliances, thing to do, ferries, etc. We would definitely recommend this property to family and friends. A major reason for this, apart from the excellent accommodation, is the apartment's location in the charming village of Argegno. The apartment is next door to the town's main church and less than 200 metres from the main square. Access to the apartment (and its underground parking) is through an electronically controlled gate from the lake-front parking area in front of the church. This is not entirely obvious on arrival, but works well. We ate in four good restaurants in the town. The best, La Piazzetta, was very good indeed. The restaurants also provided us with take-away pizza. There was an excellent bakery (up one of the narrow streets) where we got croissants for breakfast, a small shop that sold everything from cheese, ham, butter, jam, tea, coffee, wine, toilet paper, etc., an exceptional ice cream shop in the main square, and a very jolly wine bar (Enoteca). There is a good market every Monday in the parking area near the apartment.
The Ferry services (both fast and normal) are frequent to all parts of the central Lake (Bellagio, Varenna, Tremezzo, etc., as well as Como). We did not have a car (parking is a nightmare) and used the excellent ferries every day. The GreenWay del Lago behind Tremezzo is worth the walk if you are into walking. The weather was fine and warm. Not too hot (September). Our holiday was memorable and worth every penny.
Bring your own boat as we have plenty of docking space for you free of charge directly in front of the house.
An underground parking space is also included for your car.
Lake Como is one of the 3 northern italian lakes known as the 'Lake Region.' All major conveniences and attractions without the noise or crowds usually associated with such areas.
