It’s the perfect place to escape for a relaxing Wimberley vacation surrounded by Hill Country nature, yet equipped with the conveniences of home. This is the life!

The Dixie Daisy provides all the comforts of home in one cute, cozy package. The antique iron bedframe holds a queen mattress, the bathroom has a small interior shower and a real toilet, the kitchen is fully equipped with dishes and utensils, and alongside the deck is a charcoal grill and fire bowl for your night-time fire. The owners really go out of their way to add those special touches to make your trip complete, such as leaving fresh eggs in the fridge (as long as the chickens keep up) and local organic coffee. They also strive to make this property as green as possible by using environmentally friendly dish soap and laundry detergent, providing recycled paper products and full recycling, using low-wattage light bulbs, and more.

This cozy retreat is nestled in an elm grove along the banks of Smith Creek on 10 beautiful acres shared with the owners. You’ll really feel like you’ve escaped to nature, yet the fabulous shopping and dining of downtown Wimberley are only 3 miles down the road. It’s the best of both worlds! So, what are you waiting for? The Dixie Daisy is the unique vacation getaway you’ve been dreaming of. We are confident that it will exceed your expectations!

About Jennifer and Gregory

Jennifer and Gregory love living in in the picturesque village of Wimberley and sharing their unique vacation rentals with their guests. Gregory is a woodworker and his handiwork is evident in each of their vacation homes. Jennifer is an art teacher and teaches small classes out of the studio behind their home. They have a large garden, chickens, cats, and a dog.

Jennifer and Gregory purchased this recreational vehicle in 2011

Why Jennifer and Gregory chose Wimberley

This property has such a special place in our hearts. With the hilly terrain and beautiful creek we feel like we have our own little slice of hill country heaven. We strive to keep our 10 acres as natural as possible. We've created some walking trails to the most scenic parts of the creek and left other areas uncleared to provide animal habitat, a healthy riparian landscape and privacy. Our guests often see foxes, deer, a variety of birds, and other wildlife. We even have a blue heron that likes to fly over the creek each morning.

What makes this recreational vehicle unique

The Dixie Daisy is a unique vacation rental, indeed! Many of our guests like the outdoors and the experience of camping without the hassle of setting up a campsite (and the luxury of a real bathroom). We also get lots of visitors from Austin escaping the city for a few nights with just a quick drive out to the country. We even get international visitors looking to have that very American travel trailer/road trip experience. It's a fun space and we think you'll love it!

Really awesome lovable experience!!!!

The property is country cozy, enjoyed the feel of privacy with the outdoors and most important, your very Own hot tub. Was amazed of no mosquitos while enjoying a morning coffee on the patio while being saranade by the birdies. Will be coming back.

Airstream bound !

  • 4 of 5

Me and my partner enjoyed our 10 year anniversary here just like we enjoyed our honeymoon not to far from here 10 years ago. This little jewel is nestled far enough from the square but but close enough to shopping , wonderful time on the deck, hot tub and relaxing firefly shows followed by campfires! Plus All the little funky touches makes it all that much better. If I could suggest one thing it would be to add a handrail to one of the set of stairs. It would be to add balance to the-unbalance.

We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday by spending the night at the adorable Dixie Daisy!

  • 5 of 5

Everything from the perfect, retro Airstream to the sweet porch with grill and shade that made eating outside enjoyable. The Dixie Daisy was just what we were looking for in a little retreat from everyday life. The farm fresh eggs and fresh ground coffee were a few of the extra touches that the owners put in that made our stay truely memorable:) Thank you! We would definitely recommend the Dixie Daisy to anyone looking for a relaxing get away!

The Dixie Daisy does it right!

  • 5 of 5

What a delightful oasis Jennifer and Greg have created with the Dixie Daisy! From the retro feel of the airstream to the carefully thought out deck and yard, my senses were delighted! I was visited by the deer while walking along the stream just beyond the yard. They followed me back to the airstream and pretended not to watch me! If that's not enough, a walk away is greeted with a whimsical treehouse overlooking the stream! Jennifer's art studio is beyond beautiful with its unique style. The wind chimes lend an air of mystical magic in the beauty of nature. I could almost imagine fairies lanquashing in the trees! The airstream itself was incredibly comfortable with the soft bed, and carefully thought out details! The French press coffee maker was intimidating at first; however, equipped with a YouTube video tutorial, I mastered the art of making the best cup of coffee I have ever had! Jennifer and Greg supplied fresh ground local coffee and fresh eggs from their hens! All I can say is WOW! I would definitely recommend the Dixie Daisy! If nature, hotubs, and quirky stays are your thing, the Dixie Daisy does it right! I'll definitely be back! Thank you to Greg and Jennifer for a fabulous stay!

Wimberley is a fun place to stay with lots of great local activities. We leave a book of flyers for area restaurants and attractions in the Airstream, but here are some of our favorites.

In the summer, we recommend taking a dip at one of the local swimming holes. We’ll leave a list of area swimming holes in the Airstream, but Blue Hole is our favorite and its refreshing, spring-fed water is just 3 minutes away. Jacob's Well (reserve swim time at http://www.co.hays.tx.us/jwna.aspx) and The Blanco River (pay to park at Pioneer Town) are great choices as well. The Corral Theater is a lovely place to catch an outdoor movie on a Fri-Sun night. Bring a camp chair and enjoy the show! If you don’t mind driving over to San Marcos (20 min.), rent a tube from the Lion’s Club at City Park and tube the San Marcos River. You can tube 'the horseshoe' part of The Guadalupe River by renting tubes from The Tube Haus on FM 306 (20 min). The glass bottom boat rides at TX State’s Aquarena Center are really wonderful and educational, too!

There are several area wineries with beautiful grounds: The Driftwood Estate Winery, The Wimberley Valley Winery, and The Duchman Family Winery (and the Italian restaurant, Trattoria Lisina). There is also Bella Vista Ranch, a local olive orchard and olive oil producer. Their grounds, shop, and tasting room are open Mon, Thurs, Fri, and Sat.

Some of our other favorite activities include taking a hike up Old Baldy to watch the sun set, going ziplining at Wimberley Ziplines, visiting a local winery, grabbing a yummy house-brewed pint at Middleton Brewing or Wimberley Brewing Company, taking a jog or walk along the hike and bike trail at Blue Hole Regional Park, catching some live music at Cypress Creek Cafe’s Buzzard Bar, Linda’s Fine Foods, or Ino’z, and taking a morning or evening drive along The Devil’s Backbone (Hwy 32). We also love day trips to Pedernales Falls State Park (about 40 minutes away) or Luckenbach/Fredericksburg/Enchanted Rock (about 1/1.5 hrs away). Guests also ask about local hiking trails, and San Marcos has several greenbelts that are great spots for a hike: http://smgreenbelt.org/SMNaturalAreas.htm. Our local Blue Hole Park also has some nature trails and a three mile one way hike and bike trail.

For dining, we highly recommend The Leaning Pear and Jobell on RR12 just outside of the town center. They're both really yummy! The Salt Lick BBQ is a fantastic choice, located about 15 minutes away in Driftwood. Trattoria Lisina is also in Driftwood, and it’s a great for a more elegant dinner. It’s located on the grounds of the Duchman Family Winery, which is beautiful. Other Wimberley restaurants include: Brewster’s Pizza (gluten-free and dairy-free options), I’noz (average food, but nice setting on Cypress Creek & live music on weekend nights), Kate’s Place, Linda’s Fine Foods, San Angel Mexican Restaurant, Marco’s Italian, Wimberley Café (popular for breakfast), and Cypress Creek Café. You can also pick up good breakfast tacos at Shamrock Tacos. We do our best to keep updated menus for these restaurants in a binder in the Airstream.
