Drive down a country road and enter into a private family sanctuary deep in the midst of the Berkshires. This lovely home is only minutes away from the world renowned cultural hub of the Berkshires. It is a 15 minute drive to Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. For theatre: there is a choice of Shakespeare & Company, the Berkshire Theatre Festival and Barrington Stage, all nearby. Try an evening of dance at Jacob's Pillow, where the best dance companies in the world perform. Museums also abound. The Clark and Williams College Art Museum in Williamstown or Edith Wharton's 'Mount' and the galleries and boutiques in Stockbridge, Lenox and Great Barrington are all nearby. And a day trip to Mass Moca is always exciting!
Our home in the Berkshires, just at the Massachusetts/New York line is a peaceful oasis to retreat to after an incredible cultural experience.
Hiking, biking, swimming at our nearby private beach club (on a lake) or just plain lazing on the deck is all one needs to recharge to head back to town. Don't forget historic Saratoga, only an hour's drive with museums and a world famous race track.
There are several incredible spas in the area. Canyon Ranch is available for day treatments, as is the Kripalu Yoga Center, where visiting masters come to teach from all over the world.
Or perhaps you prefer the Berkshires when covered with snow. Great ski slopes are within a 30 minute drive. And there are endless trails to snowshoe. Return to our home and warm yourself by the wood burning fireplace and listen to the silence of the countryside.
Used by our family since 1994, our home in the Berkshires is a comfortable, kick back and relax sort of place. There are plenty of books, lots of music, a fully equipped kitchen for preparing all the delicious produce one can buy at local farmers markets. Sample some of the regional cheeses, sip the local cider and feast on seasonal fruits and vegetables. Leave time for a visit to our many fine restaurants with creative young chefs.
We hope you will enjoy our home as much as we do.

With five children our home in the Berkshires was a wonderful retreat where the family could be together without the interruptions of our life in the city. Today it is a gathering spot for not only our children but also their husbands or wives, grandchildren and friends. It has always been a happy home.
The Owner purchased this house in 1994
Living in Boston there are few better vacation destinations that the Berkshires. Our children grew up there exploring the surrounding countryside and we introduced them to all the cultural advantages of the area.
Solitude, country silence, proximity to a buzzy town life and the warmth of a family enjoying each other's company, those are the benefits that we love in our Berkshire home.
The listing is very accurate. The house is beautifully equipped and elegant, yet completely comfortable and easy.My husband, two sons and I stayed for a week , we all had a wonderful time. The house is well cared for and very clean. The yard is large with ample room for two young boys to run around and enjoy. The house is near the top of the mountain and there is usually a lovely breeze. The gardens are lovingly taken care of. The house is a perfect country house with a large well equipped kitchen. The owner is very easy to reach, and lovely to deal with. She provided house instructions and information about the area. She was exceedingly helpful. We cannot wait to return.
My husband and I stayed in this house with our sons and it was just as comfortable and inviting as the description reads. The acreage and surrounding grounds are breathtaking. Though we visited in the Spring I imagine the vista will be just as appealing during any other season. Similarly this would be a sweet getaway for a couple or for close friends. The house is both charming and intimate at the same time and in this respect invites a measure of romance into your sojourn. Nearby towns, attractions and good eats (whether cooking in or eating out) are all available and the owner (who furnished us with a complementary bottle of wine) is accessible and easy going to boot.
This was our first visit to New England in the autumn. Coming from London we have nothing like this in England. The foliage was gorgeous, the countryside magnificent. We loved the house we rented. After a day hiking and exploring it was great to come back to such a cozy home. We had fires in the big drawing room, cooked traditional meals in the country kitchen and slept so well at night in the comfy beds. We toured all the local sites Lenox, Stockbridge and Williamstown. Next year we'll choose another season and see more of New England.
We highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a real country experience in a wonderful landscape. Our kids loved it too.
I never expected the house to be so quiet. When we arrived, after having navigated down a long dirt road, we knew we were really out in the country. It was great. The house is very comfortable with everything one could need for a family holiday. Our two children loved exploring the nearby woodland and my husband and I spent hours reading, relaxing and unwinding on the screened porch overlooking the fields. After the city the silence was great. We look forward to our next visit.
