First time in Provo and loved it. I won't repeat what the previous 3 or 4 reviews say as we agree with the majority of what was said in the posts regarding the studio. Stephen was excellent to deal with, quick to respond all the way through and was helpful for the one or two little issues that came up, we couldn't figure out the TV remotes and once the correct TV source was discovered, no issues. Danielle, the manager, was excellent to deal with, available, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in the quality of the stay. Had a small issue with the door lock and she was very helpful. Turned out to be a sticky number so check that first if you have troubles with the lock. We arrived to find a lot more supplies than other reviewers have noted like paper towel, toilet paper, soap, spices etc so perhaps this is hit and miss. Unlike the last review we did not have a huge issue with mosquitos, a few buzzing around but you are in the Carribean. We cooked in for a lot of meals as the restaurants are very pricey and the unit had the basics but everything you need. Oven and microwave work fine and a full size fridge is great. Of note, some other VRBO reviews mention a communal BBQ at La Vista Azul however we discovered there was a recent "incident" with the communal bbq and it has been removed with no replacement. Individual units are not allowed a deck bbq so you will have to plan around that. Location of the unit is great, very central and the access to a lot of things is good. We had a rental vehicle and used it everyday for trips to other beaches and some dining etc.
Bottom line is would stay at this studio unit again in a heartbeat. However we did see a very nice house on Sapadillo Bay for only $1100.00 US a night???
Beautiful place with everything you could need. The host and the person who collaborated with the (michelle) were very attentive, highly recommended! We would like to return!
This condo is in a lovely complex, on the 2nd floor- only one flight up from the parking lot. Two pools and a hot tub are on the 5th floor, with a great view from there. The view from the condo patio is of a palm tree and parking lot, but that didn't bother us. Overall our stay was great- the furnishings are very basic, but it was clean, the bed was okay, and we had everything we needed in the kitchen (including dish soap, dish towels, and coffee filters). Loved having 4 beach towels and a washer & dryer! We rented this condo because it is walking distance to Smith's Reef (both the West and East access- though we actually drove it most days, there is plenty of parking at both accesses), and also less than 15 minutes walk to the Thursday Fish Fry at Bight Park. Definitely rent a car when staying here so that you can explore other parts of the island. Great to have keyless entry, so that we never worried about keeping track of a key, and there was also a local cell phone to use if you needed it. Don't try to go to the main LVA desk for any questions- they were less than helpful, even though I only asked for directions to the post office! We were INUNDATED with mosquitos inside the room, day and night, even though we were extra careful with the doors. That might be how it is on the island in general- but we ended up having to buy "Mosquitno" tabs to put on our shirts while we were sleeping. I wish there had been a handle on the outside of the patio door, so that we could open it more easily from the patio. Overall a great stay- thank you Stephen and Danielle!
The studio was just as pictured. It was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I enjoyed my stay in Provo and will be back. I would stay at this property again
Stayed from 11/20/16 - 11/25/16. 2 total guests.
This studio is for the budget conscious. It was a nice stay specifically for us although the pictures are little off.
About the owner:
Steve was very responsive as my plans had changed a few times but we were able to figure out a schedule that worked. Even when we were on location, Steve or his manager, Gail, was available and responding.
About the property/area:
Although the studio does not have a view, it was plenty of space for the 2 of us and we usually left the rental right after cooking breakfast. Beware of mosquitos and NO elevator! This studio is located on the second floor so not too bad. Also, the rental area (La Vista Azul) didn't seem to be fully occupied so it felt like we were the only ones at the property. Saw a few people but whether good or bad, we always felt safe at all hours - there was a security guard we saw every so often. There is a hot tub on the top floor (perfect for a late afternoon/evening recharge) with a distant view of Grace Bay as well as the pool (but we never used). Small gym but has the essentials. The property is located in Turtle Cove where Mango Reef (must go for food), Sharkbite (must go for late night dive bar drinks; and by late night, I mean 8pm), and Bight Reef for snorkeling. A few other shops too but you'll definitely NEED a rental car to get around and explore but it's extremely easy after getting used to driving on the other side of the road.
Inside the property:
There are a few pots and pans for cooking. Utensils, dishes, cups, and cutlery. Coffee maker. Big fridge. The microwave doesn't work and we didn't try using the oven. There was dishwashing soap! You should make sure to bring/buy any salt and pepper, butter, cooking oils, drinking water, etc. Just imagine, the very basic hardware is there but BYOstuff for all else. That also goes for paper towels and TP. Only 1 roll each was provided. We luckily packed 1 PT and 2 TP rolls. There is also a washer/dryer but no detergent. Shower and beach towels provided. TV and Wifi both worked well. The fan above the bed and AC also worked great.
Overall: Good budget-friendly stay in a clean, safe area.
Condo was in a central location for touring the island. I would recommend renting a car, unless you just plan to walk to the closest beach and eat at the restaurants nearby. We enjoyed the space. It was clean, except for a very dusty ceiling fan and all the tops of hanging pictures. Some dishes in the cupboard had food stuck on them, presumably a result of the last guest not rinsing before running the dishwasher. Of note, only one roll of toilet paper is provided, and only enough soap for one load in the dishwasher, one load of laundry, and very little dish soap for hand washing dishes. Beach towels were provided, but extra hand and kitchen towels would be nice to have.
