The tipi is perfect in any arrangement, whether you’re a couple, a family or group. The tipi comfortably sleeps up to 5 adults, with enough room for you and your backpacks!
Sitting around a wooden platform floor, the base diameter of the tipi is 16 feet. A hardy canvas covers 22-foot-long spruce poles, which were cut, skinned and smoothed by the draw knives of the Cabot Shores crew.
While sleeping on mats is recommended, twin and queen-size beds are available for “deluxe” comfort seekers (or for those of us with old or sore bones!)
There is a fire-pit just outside the door, facing the ocean, for cooking or bonfires. Bathrooms and showers are just around the corner at Whiff’s Lodge.
Domes, geodesic and a tree house dome are new shelters at Cabot Shores.
The domes, Big Red and the Tranquility domes, are each 16 feet in diameter. Circular, they have a bay window with great views, a side vent and extensive skylight portals offering you a view of the stars by night and the occasional eagle flying overhead by day.
The Lunar Dome is a Tree house built for two or possibly 3 or 4 with a wee one or two. It sits in the apple orchard with great views of St, Ann's Bay, the Atlantic and the Bird Islands...
With 55 acres for you to explore here at Cabot Shores, as well as directions to all of Cape Breton Island’s inexhaustible experiences, you can be sure you won’t have any lack of activities to complete, on your own or with the aid of local guides and experts. – Whether you are paddling or hiking, whale watching or enjoying concert, taking scenic drives or finding great photo opportunities, we have friendly and hospitable people to answer all of your questions and point you in the right direction!
