Overview

Photos and Description of this 1 bedroom holiday apartment in Endion

1621 E. Superior St

Beautifully maintained Turn-of-the-Century Victorian house is perfectly set-up for a business or professional traveler to the Duluth area. Located in the old established neighborhood of east Duluth, this second floor, one bedroom, fully furnished unit is tastefully decorated to blend the early 20th century charm with all the modern conveniences.

Close to both major hospitals (Essentia and St Lukes), and the downtown business district including Canal Park. Also on the bus route and has off street parking for one vehicle. Lake Superior is just a few blocks away with it's famous city Lake Walk, Rose garden, and Leif Erickson Park. The University of Minnesota Duluth is an easy 5 minute drive.

Great location for an extended stay.

About Owner/ Manager

We fell in love with this property at first site. The gardens surrounding the house create an oasis in the middle of the city. As owners, we have done extensive remodeling but have maintained the charm of the era it was built.

We would love to share this beautiful property with you

Why Owner/ Manager chose Duluth

We have set this apartment up to be used as an extended stay unit. Whatever reason brings you to Duluth, this is the perfect place to get comfortable and make yourself feel at home whether its a week or several months. There isn't a hotel in the area that is more conveniently located or that can give you that home away from home comfort.

What makes this apartment unique

Homes of this vintage and condition are getting harder to find. Staying in such a place is a unique experience

Fabulous stay!

  • 4 of 5

Have you always wanted to stay in one of the old mansions in your home town? I was able to return to Duluth and stay in one of the stately homes. From the flowing vines surrounding the home to the old leaded glass front door, it takes you back in time. The apartment was clean, well furnished, quiet and quaint. My only issue was with the spiral, metal, fire escape that is necessary to initially get to the apartment. After that I used the front stairs which was more manageable. I would recommend this home to any one! The owners were prompt when responding to emails, gracious and accommodating. You will definitely enjoy your stay

Ideal lodging in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many vacation rentals in the U.S. and abroad and have high expectations for the properties we rent. The Mansion apartment actually exceeded our expectations! It is an attractive, quiet, well organized space in an interesting historic district that is near all of Duluth's major attractions. The bed and other furniture are extremely comfortable and everything in the thoughtfully designed kitchen works well. We also liked the apartment's quiet second floor location and found the stairs easy to negotiate. All in all, this is a great place to stay and we look forward to returning.

Nicely up-to-date with historic touches. plenty of room. A great alternative to a hotel.

Cute and comfortable, but not great overnight.

  • 3 of 5

The apartment was comfortable and cute - the photos are a great representation. The apartment felt like home, even though we were there for just 2 nights. The historical feel of the home was also fun. One unique thing to be aware of is that there are two doors to the hall shared by residents from other apartments. The other residents were quiet in the hall and we rarely heard anyone, but people in the hall can easily see into the bedroom through the keyhole, so you'll want to cover that for privacy.

The owners/managers were very responsive and helpful when we had questions.

As much as we loved the space, we were disappointed that our sleep was severely disrupted by a neighbor smoke marijuana in their unit from about 2 am-5 am one night. We are generally not sensitive to smoke, but were repeatedly woken up by the smell. Even after using a box fax provided in the apartment to push the smoke out the window, we felt sick from the smell and slept in the living room. For that reason alone, we will not rent this space in the future. We loved all other aspects of this experience.

Quaint Home

  • 5 of 5

We were at this apartment for 6 nights. We were very very happy. It is a quaint, clean (I'm a bit of a germaphobo so when I give 5 stars I mean it), well kept, well stocked apartment. It is located on the second floor. Pictures are very good on the site and what you will get. Directions easy to follow. Approximately 2 miles from Canal Park, so you do usually drive. But it is also nice to be able to get away from the action and have this nice tranquil quiet apartment to come home too. The only some what remark I could give it (it isn't negative that would be incorrect) is the bath tub is very dangerous to get in and out of. It fits the historic theme of the house but the claw foot tub is dangerous entering and exiting. We would truly come back to this apartment and it deserves all 5 stars. This is a second floor apartment and not for people that have difficulty maneuvering stairs. Spiral stair case to gain access to the apartment and staircase entry (as pictured) to use during your stay. *****

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay. The apartment is on the second floor. One of the entryways into the apartment is via the spiral staircase. Another is on the carpeted interior stairs, which is another option. We look forward to you staying with us again soon!
