About the property

Sekiu Beach House, Chalet, Sleeping Loft, Sleeps 6, 2 Baths, Quiet & Peaceful

If you are looking for a quiet peaceful place to get away from it all, look no further than this secluded waterfront vacation home on the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Sekiu, Washington.

This rugged and beautiful part of the Northwest Coast is located just 35 miles from Forks, Washington, and about 20 miles from the trailhead of Shi Shi Beach, considered one of the best wilderness beaches in the world. We are also close to Cape Flattery, the most northwestern point in the continental US, (the beginning of the world). Our little piece of paradise is a great jumping off spot for visiting all points of the Olympic National Park, whether you want to soak your cares away at Sol Duc Hot Springs, visit the giant and ancient moss covered trees of the Hoh Rainforest, or hike one of the many beach or mountain trails. We're close to the Sol Duc River, famous not only for steelhead and salmon, but now as the home of the Cullen family.

Just want to relax? Sit on the deck of this well appointed home and watch the ships go by, eagles soar overhead and whales cruise the coastline. Beach comb for driftwood, rocks and shells, and explore the many tide pools right in front of the house. On a clear and moonless night, be amazed by the brilliant stars and the Milky Way. And nothing is as wonderful as the cool, fresh air, and the sound of the crashing waves.

Why JoAnn Allen chose Olympic Peninsula

We bought this place as our future retirement home and we enjoy using it now when we can. We fell in love with its incredible peace, stunning views, and natural surroundings.

What makes this chalet unique

Walk the beach and enjoy the peace and solitude, sounds of the surf and incredible views.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely stay and we got very lucky with the weather! Our 5 and 7 year old daughters enjoyed our hike from Lake Ozette to the lookout (approximately 6.5 miles). It was warm with no wind...we even got a sunburn! We enjoyed the beach here, the stove, playing Sequence (a VERY heated tourney!), working with clay and playing the piano. Thanks.

Cozy with a great beach

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at this quaint place. The wood burning stove kept us cozy. The beach was amazing and we had it all to ourselves (except for the sea lions, bald eagles, and other birds). It was very clean, had great games, a decently stocked kitchen, and comfy beds. It's nice that it had two bathrooms, despite not having any bedrooms. The sleeping loft easily held our family of four. Due to the layout we had very quiet evenings after putting the kids to bed (there is no way to shield the sleeping loft from light or sound). We loved the water view and the easy access to the beach. What a great place to explore this stretch of wild coastline.

Our Long Weekend at Allen's Beach Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time with our Samoyeds. The cabin had everything we needed and more. The beds were very comfy and so was the leather sofa and chair. We spent lots of time exploring the beach and the property, watching the wildlife (eagles, seals, sea lions, otters, squirrels, sea birds of all kinds, hearing the loons, and bats), grilling on the deck, sitting around the fire ring, looking at the stars, and just plain relaxing when the storms came through. What a treasure and we want to visit again soon!

Incredible property, the yard out back is spacious and secluded.

Everything we needed was included. Loved the indoor and outdoor fire pits, BBQ, and easy beach access.

Great Stay

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed staying here from 3-5 September 2016. The house was very nice and clean and had everything we needed. The view was great and the little beach and tidal pools were nice to explore. Our son really enjoyed playing on their piano. We enjoyed sitting out by the fire pit and watching over the Straight. We spent a day driving out to Cape Flattery and saw a grey whale in Neah Bay. The area was quiet and peaceful. My only recommendation is to make sure you load up on any food or supplies you need at Port Angles (if you are coming from the East) since there are no grocery stores nearby. There are a couple of gas stations and small general stores within a 20-30min drive if you need one though.

Welcoming and comfortable home in a great location

  • 4 of 5

For our family of 3, we enjoyed having lots of space to relax. The kitchen was very functional and had tons of spices and extras to make vacation cooking a little yummier. I appreciated thoughtful touches like binoculars to borrow, the binder of local tourist resources, a brimming bookshelf including children's books and games, a fresh sponge at the kitchen sink, travel toiletries in the bathrooms, and even some personalized baby proofing help! Everything was spic-and-span when we arrived. The beds were comfortable and the showers were hot. We enjoyed sitting by the fire at night, though we never took the time (or mustered the energy?) to enjoy an outdoor fire in the fire pit. It was great to connect as a family while disconnecting from the "real" world. No TV--there's wifi, don't worry!--but a piano made for great after-dinner entertainment. The beach access was wonderful, with beautiful views in all directions! The sand flies were a little icky, but there were beach toys on the stairs my son enjoyed playing with, and lots of tide pools to explore. It was nice being in a location closer to Cape Flattery and Hoh Rainforest (stop at Puffin on 101 for lunch--fantastic food!!!). We never made it to Salt Creek since we had such good beach access here. We enjoyed visiting Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake and Marymere Falls on our way into Sekiu. I appreciated the clear and thorough rental instructions/information being fully available on the app.

Great view and beach access

  • 5 of 5

Brought my kids 10 and 13 here for a long weekend. the access to the beach was the selling point for us. We had the best sunset and beach combing experiences of our trip right here (versus ruby beach and fourth beach. Although we went on pretty overcast days) took 30 min to get to 101 on the west side of the Olympic forest. Crescent Lake and ruby beach were 1 hour drives. Hoh rainforest 1.5 hours and cape flattery 35 min. The kids also liked being able to see Canada across the water. Only draw back for many people would b that all beds except the sofa bed are in one room. Would we return? Yes
