Overview

About the property

Casa De Las Montanas is a truly charming & glamorous townhome w/ vintage appeal in a quiet location. It is a very special place with all kinds of character and great views. The home has just been renovated, is 5 minutes from downtown and convenient to the University of Arizona, but is quiet and private and boasts amazing mountain and desert views. This is a secure and light filled home, with a delightful courtyard with a covered patio. It is not a cookie-cutter, beige box. It has been furnished with a welcoming mix of antiques and art to create a beautiful atmosphere. You are right near downtown, but are on the edge of the Tucson Mountains. Located in a charming neighborhood and a piece of tucson history, it is just west of the downtown area and only a matter of minutes to the Saguaro National Park West. A wide range of great restaurants and shops are on your doorstep, but there is still a sense of space.

The casa has 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths. The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with high standard cooking equipment, granite counters and stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. The open plan kitchen looks out to the dining area that can seat 8 or more, and the charming, working kiva fireplace. Sliding glass doors lead from the dining area out to the covered patio and enclosed courtyard, encouraging indoor/outdoor living. A unique gated bell tower leads you into the courtyard from the street. You will find the courtyard with its 100 year old saguaro cacti and prickly pear cacti and original mexican saulsolito tiles, is a wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee, evening margarita or gaze at the star filled night skies.

The bedrooms boast brand new memory foam topped mattresses, fine 100% cotton sheets and lovely furnishings. The master contains a queen and has an en suite bathroom with travertine tiles and plush towels. The guest bedroom has a queen bed and a sweet view of the courtyard, and a travertine tiled bathroom, with a washer/dryer across the hall. The third bedroom has an iron cottage bed with a pull out, pop-up trundle that can be used as two twins or combined together for a king. A writing desk with an absolutely beautiful view to the west of open desert and mountains is a great place to admire the stunning sunsets.

Imagination, style and flare have been used throughout to make our home stand out from the run of the mill, hotel-like settings you find in so much of the Tucson vacation rental market. We independently own and manage the casa, you will not be dealing with an impersonal management company. We have travelled widely and work hard to make sure that all the little details we appreciate in a rental, are available for our guests. We take pride in the place and have many repeat guests, so we must be doing something right! Broadband wireless and a flat screen HDTV with local and network channels and live streaming Netflix is included. Central air conditioning and tile floors in the main living spaces, will keep you cool and comfy in summer and central heat and the working fireplace will keep you toasty in winter, during our few months when a little heat may be needed. A garage with garage door opener is available and of course there is a gas grill, so you can barbeque in the courtyard. The house is all on one level and has no steps so it is suitable for all.

There are so many activities on your doorstep. Great golfing, hiking, cultural activities, shopping and dining are all right nearby. There are walking trails through the desert, right across the street. We may be biased, but we think our location is amongst the best in tucson!

Why Jenny chose Arizona

This established neighborhood is hard to beat. It is quiet and safe, and big on charm. The neighbors are wonderful and the private courtyard with its amazing mountain views is a delight. It is a gem!

What makes this townhome unique

Few places offer such great views and easy proximity to downtown Tucson, while also being on the doorstep of the Tucson Mountains and Saguaro National Park West. Nature, culture, privacy and charm will be yours. Come see why so many people are repeat visitors!

Truly, A Perfect Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

On our return trip to Tucson, we were lucky to be able to again book this charming townhouse. We loved everything about this property on our first visit, its cleanliness, its amenities, its peacefulness, and its location, and this time we were equally pleased. As before, Jenny left brochures, books, magazines, and lists of activities and restaurants we might enjoy, and we put them to good use looking for new adventures. Among these included the Turquoise Trail, a self-guided walking tour of downtown Tucson; The Tucson Botanical Gardens, with its magical butterfly house; both the Arizona State Museum and the Arizona History Museum, located on the University of Arizona campus; and even a U of A baseball game watching not only the players but the incredible sunset over right field. All of these were quickly and easily accessed from Casa de la Montanas. When we were not out exploring, we enjoyed the private courtyard for reading, relaxing, and eating breakfasts and dinners from La Freitas West, a nearby authentic Mexican take out or prepared in the townhouse's well-stocked kitchen with groceries we purchased from nearby stores. Our favorite restaurant during this stay was Pasco Kitchen, which we visited twice! Jenny has gone out of her way to make this townhouse the perfect hub for a Tucson vacation.

Great location for getting to know Tucson

  • 4 of 5

This is a comfortable home located in a great spot to see and tour Tucson and it's environs. The home is well stocked with all the amenities needed, spacious, and has a great outdoor courtyard. The owner is very easy to work with and responds quickly to any needs. It's located in a nice neighborhood, and has very pleasant views of the surrounding mountains.

This home is very close to the I10 freeway, downtown, the U of A, great restaurants, and the many sight seeing attractions in the Tucson area. It was a perfect location for our first visit to Tucson.

Location, Location, Location

We really enjoyed staying at this house. There are so many wonderful places nearby. The Desert Museum, Saguaro National Park West and Tucson Mountain Park (the best place to be at sunset) are a short drive to the West. There is an open area across the street where you can hike. Just south within walking distance, is A mountain and Tumamoc Hill, both are great places for a walk. Downtown is just a short drive from the house.

Definitely go to Sabino Canyon!

The house is just as described and is located in a quiet neighborhood. It is the well equipped and the beds were comfortable. We spent much time on the large patio area, part is open and part is covered. Several nights while we were there a great horned owl perched behind the house on a utility pole. Jenny was a pleasure to deal with and was always quick to respond to any questions.

If we go back to Tucson, we will stay here again.

Very nice place to hang your hat!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many different places when visiting Tucson over the last 5 years. This property is very well situated to access the freeway, downtown area or the U of A campus. The house and grounds are very clean and livable. We will certainly want to stay here again when we come back to visit beautiful Tucson.

An Exceedingly Comfortable Place To Stay In Tucson

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Casa de las Montanas for 8 days in April, during our first visit to Tucson.

We were not disappointed when we arrived for our stay. The townhouse was just as described on the website. It was clean, spacious, bright and airy and thoughtfully furnished with many pieces of furniture in the south western style. The furnishings complimented the style of the townhouse. As well, the kitchen was well equipped.

We particularly enjoyed the peaceful outdoor area with its views. We ate breakfasts and several suppers there and also enjoyed the company of the many birds who live on and around the property.

The townhouse was well located for the airport, and for shopping, as well as all the other places of interest we wanted to visit.

For interested coffee lovers, we discovered "Raging Sage" on N. Campbell Avenue in Tucson. An intimate coffee house with a small patio with orange trees. Great coffee and very, very, good baked goods.

All in all, we recommend Casa De La Montanas as an exceedingly comfortable place to stay when visiting Tucson.

A lovely home to rent again.

  • 5 of 5

Two of us couples needed to escape midwest frigid temps and snowfall, chose to meet in Tucson and chose to rent a house together. We loved this beautiful casa, found it to be accurate in description, clean upon arrival, beautiful location in an already fantastic town, and a very well-stocked kitchen, implement-wise. We four used the kitchen often. We all agreed about the very comfortable beds, too. We found the friendly owner easy to work with as she and I talked details through several emails. We usually enjoy the east side with its wonderful Sabino Canyon, but this casa was instead close to all the west side places of beauty - Saguaro Monument West, Desert Museum, Tucson Mountain hiking, Kitt Peak, and more. If you do still go to Sabino Canyon on the east side, start out earlier than you think as its parking lot fills up fast during snowbird season. Some favorite places we enjoy in Tucson no matter on which side of town we stay. We always visit Pima County Air Museum, radio-control airplane flying field way on east side on Valencia, Bookman's (secondhand books, jigsaw puzzles, games, musical instruments, etc.) on Speedway in Monterey Village. If you just want to relax, this casa has a beautiful covered patio. Yes, we recommend staying here.

Ideally located to enjoy all that downtown Tucson has to offer, yet across from open desert and mountain views, is this charming, elegant vintage townhouse with a delightful courtyard. Only five minutes to the epicenter of downtown, with all its wonderful restaurants, clubs, thriving arts scene and the University of Arizona, this very special 3 bed/ 2 bath home, sits in a quiet, adorable development of southwest style homes on the west side of Tucson. You will not believe the views out over the desert and to the mountains, in all directions. The vintage community was built by one of Tucson's most creative builders, and character abounds in this wonderful neighborhood. You can drive 5 minutes in one direction and be in the heart of the city, and ten minutes in the other direction and be in the National Saguaro Park, with its stunning vistas and millions of cacti.

We love Tucson and think you will too. Its diverse history blends the Wild West, with colonial Spanish influence, Native American heritage, and Mexican culture with all the amenities of a small thriving American city and college town. You will never run out of the things to see and do in our corner of the Southwest. Whether your idea of heaven is hiking, biking, golfing, enjoying great diverse restaurants, and world class shopping, bird watching, museum hopping, taking in live music, sky gazing or navel gazing, you will be happy in Tucson. And with the nearly always sunny skies and wonderful year round climate, how could you go wrong? Come find out why we think Tucson is one of the neatest cities in the world. The unique bio-diversity will blow you away, and amenities in this funky old pueblo will keep you coming back. Tucson is an ideal base from which to explore the American Southwest. The Grand Canyon, Sedona, San Diego, Santa Fe,and Mexico are all within a day's drive. Come see for yourself why Tucson is one of the nation's most popular small cities to relocate to!
