About Susan Endicott
The RETREAT COTTAGE is owned by John and Charlotte Druce, former owners of The Spruce Point Inn. They have welcomed guests for over 20 years and look forward to showing you around this beautiful spot. Their home is right across the street and The Inn is just up the road.
Why Susan Endicott chose Boothbay Harbor
We owned and operated The Spruce Point Inn and wanted to live nearby. Many famous people have stayed in RETREAT. It has a history that always was of interest to us.
What makes this Cottage unique
A romantic hide away right on the ocean. Sunsets at the RETREAT Cottage have been the subject of many artists and writers over the years. The Druce dock is available for kayaks or swimming. Private parking for one car. Nearby attractions are The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, The Opera House and the Land Trust offers miles of hiking trails.

What a wonderful experience!!!
Everything was perfect with the ever changing views, the feel of the sea breeze on a hot summer day, the smell of the ocean, and the crash of the waves, it all set the mood for this relaxing get away. The Retreat itself is very unique and ideal for a couple, it has such a private setting just a few feet from the water, yet it also has access to all Spruce Point Inn's amenities.
Susan answered any question immediately and the cottage was meticulously kept for our every need.
Susan and John for this wonderful experience!
On the Rocks-Boothbay Harbor Maine
Location is unbelievable! We stayed here as a one time adventure - but plan to stay again next year and make it part of our annual vacation. Everything was as advertised and excellent communications with the property manager and the owner that lives across the street. Just super!
Cozy and quaint don't really cover it but those two words sum up our impression. Cozy because of the cottage and its many nautical themed knick knacks. Oh, and how about sleeping with the windows open in the cozy bedroom and hearing the waves breaking on the rocks some 40' away. Privileges at Spruce Point Inn meant that we didn't have to leave the area for our entire stay - meals, bagels for Harry, newspapers and coffee on their front porch, etc., etc. Harry the seagull quickly became a favorite as we lounged in the Adirondack chairs in front of the cottage. Would we do it again? In a heartbeat!
Small and cozy
This was not our first stay and we didn’t think it would top the last one but it did!!! Weather gods gave us everything but snow this trip but whether we were outside or inside the views of the bay take your breath away. Susan the property manager reponded to all our needs in our record time and having access to the facilities at Spruce Point is a plus. This trip however we had the pleasure of meeting John Druce the owner and finding out more of the history. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Retreat does indeed have its own magic. Please visit again.
Quaint cozy quiet relaxing amazing can't say enough! We had a wonderful time celebrating our 35th anniversary
An added bonus was to meet John Druce!!
Oh thank you. I'm so glad you had a relaxing stay on Spruce Point.
We'll see you next year.
All the best
