About Fleur van Heek

About ten years ago, we decided we where ready to receive travelers from all over the world in our home. We had made a beautiful guest room with a great bathroom and experienced great fun with family relatives and friends of friends. More and more people found the way to our house. And we really really enjoyed showing people around in Amsterdam. Some would like to see museums, some more the nightlife. So many people so many wishes. We where there to for fill them. What a enormous joy did that give. So one morning I woke up and decided to make it my profession. So that's when Fleur d' Amsterdam started. And we never ever regretted that! What a opportunity to meet new people and enjoy each others stories. Since then we have had the opportunity to meet new friends. And so we did!

Fleur van Heek purchased this house in 2010

Why Fleur van Heek chose Amsterdam City

This location is just outside the busy noisy city centre of Amsterdam. We do have the café 's, bars and good restaurants. But we don't have the drunk, loud and crazy tourists that scum the inner city of Amsterdam day and night. So nice clean air, peaceful nights and a green oasis just outside your doorstep. 10 minutes with the bike ( rental around the corner) or the tram, and you are back downtown. That's why we think we own the best place in Amsterdam, and numerous have told us just that!!! ( see the reviews!)

What makes this house unique

I live in this city of Amsterdam now for almost 30 years, and each day while biking through this city, I feel the blessing of living in one of the most inspiring Cities of the World! Me, a girl from the countryside, feel like a bee in the honeypot every day! Come and stay with us, and I'll tell you all about our experiences and everything we have learned from our guests!!Our neighborhood is one of the most wanted in Amsterdam, with the local shops cafe's , well known restaurants, upscale and easy going, there is always something of your choice. We love to help you in every way we can to make this precious holiday, the best ever!

Awesome B&B

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Fleur and her family were amazing hosts that opened their friendly doors to us. Their home was just as they listed and convenient in every aspect. Her custom breakfasts were very much enjoyed and dearly missed when we got back home. We would highly recommend them for your next visit!

Amsterdam with a personal touch

  • 5 of 5

Both Fleur and the accommodations were wonderful. Each day started with a delicious breakfast and suggestions for the coming day. Whether it was where to go or just how to get somewhere, Fleur is a very joyful and knowledgeable person. Her assessments of the different museums, restaurants or destinations were spot on at so many levels. I was always able to rely on her opinions. Very unexpectedly she shared a morning excursion with me that was the highlight of my trip. My stay at Fleur's was at the center of my great visit to Amsterdam.

Relaxing and welcoming accommodation

  • 5 of 5

While we weren't blessed with glorious weather for our stay in Amsterdam, we did enjoy our stay at Fleur d'Amsterdam.

Situated in a quiet neighbourhood, but with good access to the city centre by tram, the accommodation was clean and comfortable. There were drinks and snacks in the room, which was a nice touch, and Fleur was very helpful and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the restaurants that she recommended (and also checked out a nearby pizzeria and chip shop, both of which are great!).

Our 2 year old loved her holiday. While Amsterdam isn't the easiest place to navigate with a buggy she enjoyed the library and boat trip best of our excursions. Most of all though she adored Fleur's house with the cats, birds and chickens as well as lots of interesting knick knacks that Fleur was kind enough to let her play with.

Fabulous stay at Fleur's!

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for something outside the touristy areas... a place to make our visit to Amsterdam feel authentic... a "home" during our travels. We found this and so much more at Fleur's B&B! She emailed us easily-understood directions from Schiphol that had us take the train to Central Amsterdam, then the tram to her neighborhood -- a easy trip and really nice experience. After a warm greeting upon arrival, Fleur helped us with maps, museum passes, suggestions, and other things necessary for us to enjoy our 4-day stay there. Our room was pleasant; the en suite bathroom was modern and fine. Fleur cooked us wonderful breakfasts (eggs & bacon, fresh bakery rolls, cheeses, butter & jams, fruit, coffee/tee) and we also went out to the neighborhood place, 1900 Cafe, for a very good breakfast one morning as well. We really enjoyed eating locally in the neighborhood each evening after full days of being tourists. While Fleur's home is just outside the downtown area, she's still very much in Amsterdam, so taking the tram into the tourist/central area each day as we did was a nice experience as we passed by things that those who live here see. We would absolutely stay here again, and would recommend Fleur's place to others.

Perfect little gem tucked into the best neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Fleur's B&B in December 2013 and absolutely fell in love with this most charming city. Fleur and family were fantastic and I still think fondly about their enchanting gardens and home as well as those daily homemade breakfasts! The room was perfect and provided the comforts of home after a long day. She even allowed us to wash our clothes and let them dry above the open kitchen! We especially enjoyed the little boxes in the foyer letting us know who was home or out - neat! The B&B is very centrally located, we used the tram with pre-purchased tickets to get most everywhere, in addition to strolling the quaint neighborhoods getting lost in the beauty of the city. Fleur is the ultimate tour guide, offering wonderful suggestions and providing museum passes to most. We visited the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum, Heineken Experience as well as many other fantastic breweries - our favorites being Brouwerij't IJ and de Prael. We also visited the Flea Market in the Noord which was an exciting experience! Elsa's is a MUST - take the little alley behind it to feel like a local. The staff recognized us after our first visit and were even trying to get us tickets to the match one night! I highly recommend this gem, especially considering it's located outside the tourist areas and we always felt very safe.

Our little neighborhood is about the most populair of Amsterdam. Why? Because it is quiet, green and safe and friendly. The inner city will not stop with the hustle and bustle of the night, but here is quietness. Set an alarm if you like to start early, because it's not the traffic that will wake you up!

Just around the corner there is a great bike rental and they will have comfortable bike's for 7.50 a day and give yourself a tour through Amsterdam!! Or take the ferry to enjoy a famous Dutch ' kroket'.
