Located on a 16 acre parcel bordered by the waters of Eastsound on Orcas Island in Washington state's beautiful San Juan Islands, The Anchorage Inn is the perfect destination for your private get away. The pristine cove on the property has a high bluff to the north and a remote, private beach perfect for lying in the morning sun. Watch for bald eagles, seals, herons, loons and other sea birds nesting in the area.
The two person hot tub is situated on the edge of the bluff with a dramatic view of Eastsound village. At night the moon and stars ignite the sky.
Your studio apartment has its own private stairway and cedar deck. It is situated to afford the maximum privacy and have dramatic views of the water from inside or on the deck.
The kitchen is stocked with coffee, and a variety of teas. The spectacular view from your private deck is the perfect setting any time you feel like it!
Next to the inn is a gazebo with gas or charcoal barbecue, table and chairs. An ideal location for preparing some fresh salmon, oysters or steak that can be purchased at several nearby stores.
We are not suitable for children or pets. Think romantic getaway, think Anchorage Inn on Orcas Island.

PRIOR to the Anchorage Inn my husband and I owned and operated a very typical inn on Orcas. Although it was quite successful with a large number of return guests, many of them expressed the desire for a more romantic experience. One that provided that truly intimate space not found in other inns. So on a 16 acre waterfront parcel surrounded by huge fir and cedar trees that included a private cove we designed and built the Anchorage Inn.
This property's central location on the water affords easy access to all the many sites visitors come to the San Juan Islands to enjoy. We can assist you with maps and information of what you in particular might enjoy.
My husband and I stayed this July for 4 nights and loved the place - nice inside, big windows with a view of the water - peaceful in the woods - the manager who gave us the keys Lily was so nice and helpful, the owner Sandra (whose home is on the property facing the water) was so nice and sweet. Hot tub down the short trail facing the water - wow!!! There are 3 studios in the building behind their home which all have views - they have everything you need inside and just the perfect location to town and the ferry - we would definitely go back and stay there - loved it!!!
This place was wonderful. More than I expected. Nice and quiet, beautiful views, wonderful caretakers.
We loved everything about our stay. The studio was charming, clean and comfortable. It was quiet with a lovely view of the water. Our stay was made extra nice by the hosts providing us with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from their garden and each day we were treated to fresh baked goods and homemade jam. It was very conveniently located-close to Eastsound and not far from the ferry. The host suggested a great hike on Turtleback mountain which had awesome panoramic views. We'll definitely come again and recommend this lovely place to our friends.
My wife chose the Anchorage Inn because she believed it would be the romantic and private getaway that we needed. She was so right! Although the web site is good it cannot portray the tranquil feeling I acquired. The view of the ocean and huge trees from inside and on the deck was magnificent. Early morning at the cove watching the wild life, followed by a soak and spectacular view from hot tub really jump-started our day. The living area was clean, bright and comfortable. Although small, the kitchen had all the necessities for preparing our breakfast which we then consumed on our private deck. On a couple of occasions we barbecued some fresh fish at the gazebo where we dinned while bird watching. The inn’s secluded location was central to the island, making most attraction a short drive. Except for the days we had scheduled early tours,(whale watching and kayaking ) we spent most of the day just relaxing and probably missed several island sites, but we plans to return here next year. I highly recommend the Anchorage to those needing an escape and recharge.
Most guests flying to Washington State will arrive at Sea-Tac international airport just south of Seattle.
Since Orcas is a large island (approximately 55 square miles) with lots to do and see a private/rental vehicle is highly recommended.
Take interstate five north to exit 230/Highway 20 just north of Mount Vernon.)
A large sign will read Anacortes/San Juan Ferry. Proceed west on Highway 20 to Anacortes and follow the signs to the ferry landing. Allow two hours travel time from Sea-Tac Airport to the ferry terminal. Try to arrive at the ferry terminal one hour before scheduled departure (two hours on weekends and during the summer.) No reservations are excepted. The ferry terminal is a pleasant setting, ideal for reading a book or getting reacquainted. Once aboard the comfortable ferry the hour and twenty minute ride is unforgettable with majestic views of the island chain to help prepare you for what is to come
As you depart the ferry turn left and follow the traffic along Orcas Road toward the town of East sound for seven miles, then turn right on Sunderlund Road. The landmarks here will be Crow Valley Pottery on your left and Orcas Golf Course on your right. Sunderlund Road is the only road going through the golf course. Proceed approximately one mile to the very end of Sunderlund road where Bronson Way goes to the left. Stay on Bronson Way all the way to the end and Anchorage Inn. Check in at the reception area next to parking.
Please notify us if you will be arriving after 6:00 PM
