A most relaxing holiday.

There were three generations of our family staying at Marie’s holiday home. She was very kind and did her best to help us with all our questions. The gite is set In the country so it was a very restful and relaxing holiday. Very clean, well equipped excellent beds and towels supplied and very relaxing. It was very hot so an outside parasol would have been welcome and possibly a bbq but we didn’t ask so perhaps we should have done, also we felt if Marie had put together an information book with details of supermarkets etc it would be good but again she answered everything if we asked.. We would definitely return in the future and would recommend .

A lovely stay in a beautiful place

My husband and I and his two sisters stayed for a week. Marie, the owner, lives next door and was a great host. Very friendly and helpful with suggestions on things to do, and always responsive when we had a request. The house is quirky and different, nicely renovated and Marie has decorated it with some lovely and unusual pieces. We had a great stay and would absolutely recommend it. We hope to be back one day.

Lovely, charming, peaceful house and location

Our family had a truly amazing week at these absolutely unique and full of French character country house. Marie, the owner, was extremely helpful and kind to us throughout our stay. I would recommend this house for anyone as our family of 5 (including children age 8 and 1) had fabulous, relaxing and fabulous time. House itself was very spacious, fully equipped and we loved it so much. Although the house itself was located in peaceful area there were still many places to visit and see, not to mention a lovely town - Tours - packed in amazing architecture and restaurants that serve yummiest food. Thank you Marie 👍

Great stay at Une Maison, Un Jardin!!

My husband and I stayed for 5-days at Une Maison, Un Jardin in June 2011 and had a remarkable time. We were welcomed by Marie and William, who showed us through the house and around the property, and then shared with us a bottle of wine, some cheese and some lovely conversation. Being just two of us and three bedrooms, we had our pick of which room to sleep in. We chose the Reves double bedroom and were very pleased with it. It was extremely comfortable and we slept very well. All of the bedrooms, and their adjoining bathrooms, were nicely outfitted and very comfortable. The kitchen had everything in it we could have needed, from the dishes, cutlery and serving dishes to the large modern fridge and stove. The living and dining areas were large and comfortable and we were happy to hook up our laptop and have WiFi access. We met the local hens and roosters, all of whom slept 20 feet up in the trees! We also met the local cats, which we desperately wanted to adopt, in particular Princess Mononoke...she was so adorable and affectionate! Gauffer and Boomerang appreciated the apples, carrots and nectarines we fed them daily...they were very sweet and gentle horses!! Marie was so helpful in making us feel at home, and gave us some wonderful tips on where to sight see and shop. She even left us a lovely basket of fresh vegetables on morning, which was a nice surprise! We enjoyed the Loire very much and made a point of seeing Clos Luc, Chambord, Chennonceau and Azay le Rideau. Although Marie strongly suggested we visit Villandry, we didn't and we certainly regret that now. But, there's always next time! I cannot thank Marie enough for making our stay so pleasant. I still think with great fondness her standing in the driveway with her umbrella in one hand, waving with the other, as we drove away. I didn't want to leave!! Thank you so much Marie!

The Quintessential French Experience

In October 2010, my husband and new baby stayed in Marie's lovely vacation home near Berthenay on the Loire River. We invited friends over from London and from the United States to join us for a week of eating well, drinking well, and relaxing in the French countryside. We could not have imagined a better vacation in a more beautiful location. First, Marie is the most gracious and kind hostess--she greeted us with local wine and cheese, and made sure we had everything we needed (she even provided a fully stocked baby's room!). She is an artist and her home is a work of art, down to the smallest details. We ate from her garden, built wonderful fires in the kitchen fireplace, and visited nearby farms to buy exquisite local ingredients for our nightly feasts. We also were near several fantastic restaurants, and of course all of the sights and chateaux of the region--but in truth, it was hard to tear ourselves away from the lounge chairs in the garden and the warmth of the kitchen table. This was the perfect choice for travelers looking for a sophisticated but relaxing vacation rental. Everyone we met in the region went out of their way to be welcoming to our little band of traveling Americans--we were invited into people's homes and had our own private vineyard tours! We just hope we will get to visit Madame Callierez again!
