|Minimum Stay||4 - 5 nights|
Beautiful apartment situated close to all Parisian sights. Most major tourist attractions can be reached in less than half an hour. The nearest metro is also close - 550 m, a 6 minutes walk.
Tourist attractions in the close neighborhood are the Catacombs of Denfert Rochereau, le Jardin du Luxembourg, the Tower of Montparnasse, the Rodin Museum and La Fondation Cartier.
Montparnasse is known as the artists' quarter. In the 1950s, famous people like Miles Davis, Jean-Paul Sartre & Simone de Beauvoir and Ernest Hemingway (among others) spent much of their time here. Well-known places to visit are le Closerie des Lilas, la Coupole or le Dôme.
The apartment is located in a very popular neighborhood near the authentic Rue Daguerre. This typical French market street has not been invaded by big retailers and still features real small neighborhood shops and tiny trendy boutiques.
People from all over Paris come to this pedestrian street for their food shopping, enjoy a glass of wine on a terrace of a side-walk café or savor dinner in one of the many restaurants the Rue Daguerre offers.
This bustling street reflects old-time Paris and is the charm of this lively and wonderful neighborhood.
The light and sunny three-room apartment (57m2 or 614 sq. ft.) is suitable for 4 persons. Situated on the fourth floor of a quiet building from early 20th century. Furnished with beautiful antique and modern furniture and equipped with a mobile air conditioner. The apartment is also fully equipped with double glass windows.
Several buses and metros are nearby and will lead you quickly everywhere in Paris.
Arrival- and departure day is flexible, depending on the previous and following guests. It is always possible to leave your luggage upon waiting for your apartment.
Accessibility: The apartment is situated on the fourth floor. There is no elevator.
Thank you for your interest in my profile. I have the Dutch and the French nationality and I came to Paris to work in 1981. With my husband and two children, I have been living in the quarter of Montparnasse for many years now and I still enjoy every minute of it. Now that my children are studying, I have time to take care of the rental and the guests. It is great to receive visitors from all over the world.
Elisabeth purchased this apartment in 2005
The building in which the apartment is situated was built by the great-grandfather of my husband in 1911. The great-grandmother said to the great-grandfather: 'But why are you building in the country side?' as there were just farms, cows and chicken around. The building was finished after WWI when the apartment was let to Mr and Mrs Robbe-Grillet. They were the parents of Alain Robbe-Grillet, the famous French novelist and filmmaker. Until recently, his sister Anne-Lise rented the apartment.
The area around the apartment is quiet and safe but lively at the same time. The Rue Daguerre is, as so many guests mention, an oasis of food shops, restaurants and sidewalk cafes. I live in the same building as the apartment and I am always available to give information and help if needed.
Thank you for the opportunity to stay at your lovely apartment Elisabeth. You were a gracious host and we had a wonderful time in Paris. We found the location perfect for exploring and very comforting to come home to. My family would love to return to Paris and we would stay here again.
This apartment was perfect for our family's stay in Paris. We are a family of 4 so having the 2 bedrooms was so much nicer than being crammed into a hotel room. It was also nice to have a living area and kitchen to use if needed. The apartment was very clean and updated in all the right places, yet still had old Parisian charm. It's in a great area full of cafes, bakeries, little shops and close to the metro. Elisabeth is so helpful and responsive every time we contacted her. She even arranged for a taxi to pick us up early in the morning when we were headed back home. If we ever go back to Paris, we would definitely stay here again. I can't say enough great things about this apartment! The only negative would be if you aren't able to climb stairs. It is on the 4th floor so it would be a lot of stairs to climb for someone who doesn't like stairs. It didn't bother us though, we absolutely loved this apartment and you couldn't ask for a more friendly and helpful owner!
My wife, teenage daughter and I spent a very pleasant week here. The apartment is elegant, clean and furnished to a high standard. It is in a quiet street, yet close to the wonderful bustle of rue Daguerre, with food stores so complete we did not have to bother with the street markets at Edgar Quinet or Mouton Duvernet, which gave us flexibility with shopping - although both these are an easy walk away and worth a stroll.
Elisabeth was very helpful and we had no problems at all. Facilities are all modern and function well.
Elisabeth's apartment is immaculate , quiet and comfortable. We stayed 5 nights last week ( 2 adults and 2 teens). She is a gracious and kind host ; helping to answer all questions, checking in on us a few days into our stay and arranging a properly sized taxi to get us back to the airport. The apartment is exactly as pictured and described ; after very long days walking and touring it was a welcome place to come back to. I would 100% recommend this apartment ! We did not use the kitchen for cooking , but it was very well stocked with clean cookware and dishes.
We chose this apartment based on the comments of others and we were not disappointed. It was perfectly charming, very clean and comfortable and the location could not have been better. Close to the metro for ease of getting around and the local market area had everything that we could need for our two week stay. It had been a long time since we were last in Paris and we became very comfortable very quickly.
Elisabeth and her family were lovely and very helpful, and we look forward to staying there again.
This is the second time I have stayed in this apartment. The first time I stayed with three girlfriends. This time I stayed with my husband, teenage daughter and her friend. Both times I was extremely grateful to have a kitchen and a family room with two couches, a kitchen table and a television. It was so nice to have some space to spread out, watch a movie, make dinner if we were too exhausted to venture back out into the city. The kitchen is compact, but well-stocked. We made dinner five of the seven nights we were there, and there were more than enough dishes, pots, skillets, glasses, utensils, appliances, etc to create a well-rounded meal. Previous to my two stays in this apartment, I stayed in a nice hotel on Raspail and the room was tiny with only a bed to sit on and no place to store food. When we stayed at that particular hotel, we felt compelled to be "out and about" constantly, which was exhausting, and we spent twice as much on food. Elisabeth's apartment allowed us to enjoy some very comfortable downtime in between seeing the sights and save some money.
I believe the previous reviewer had a few negative comments that I would like to challenge. Yes, the floors creak. But they are old and beautiful and add to the charm of the apartment. I used the bathroom multiple times every night of our stay and never woke anyone.
Also, both times that I stayed, Elisabeth was eager to resolve any problems we might have. On our first stay, the hot water heater broke and she came swiftly to fix it, toting a bottle of wine for us to enjoy. Our second stay was problem-free, but she phoned me a couple of days after our arrival to see how we were doing and to remind me to contact her if I should need anything. I found her to be extremely hospitable and eager to make us comfortable.
I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend this apartment to anyone. We had a lovely, comfortable, relaxing vacation while staying here.
The apartment is situated near the metro and RER station Denfert Rochereau. It is a direct line from Gare du Nord if you are travelling by Eurostar or by Thalys.
If you are travelling by plane, there is a direct RER rail link from Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport and a direct bus from Orly airport.
The railway station Montparnasse is also nearby if you are coming from the west or from the south-west of France or if you wish to go further afield to Chartres.
Paris itself, not including the suburbs, is relatively small and from the apartment - as I have already mentioned - you can reach most major tourist attractions in less than half an hour. The nearest metro stations are Denfert Rochereau and Gaîté. Denfert Rochereau is 550 m away and about a 6 minutes walk, Gaîté is 650 m away and about 7 minutes by foot.
Euro Disney is easily reached by RER B and A or by car (motorway A4).
