The unique aspect of this chalet style mountain home is its beautiful serene and scenic location. The right combination of both is waiting for you. There are two bathrooms one of which is a half bath with a toilet and vanity sink. For scores of guestbook reviews please click on the menu item in the owner information section of this description.

Sip your favorite refreshment in the large hot tub, while enjoying the mountain views all around you. A baby grand, drums and guitar are included for the musically inclined. A large fireplace will keep you toasty in the winter, and gentle mountain breezes will keep you comfortable in the summer. There is a large living room ceiling fan and a circulating air fan from the furnace There is no need for superficial air conditioning since mother nature provides it all.

While the city of Boulder is accessible in twenty minutes for the normal amenities such as dining, theater, music, sightseeing, and shopping, - - - the town of Nederland is only ten minutes away for satisfying basic needs. Sugarloaf Mountain Rd, which will bring you to the house, is maintained year round for safe access and driving. (By the way, the route that Mapquest type programs usually designates for you is actually twice as long as the local route.) About Claude 'Larry' Fox

A Colorado native, I've lived in all parts of the state. I know what I love about Colorado and I spent years searching for the location that has it all. Well, when I found this home, I spent one hour without saying a word looking it over, then when the owner said 'What do you think?', I said 'Sold.' And I've been sold on it ever since. I actually get excited with the thought of vacation renters enjoying my place. (No, I do not stay here when it is rented to you.) I love sharing the specialness of my home. Everything special about Colorado is within immediate reach from this location. The dramatic and rugged wilderness of the Continental Divide, to the cultured sophisticated amenities of the City of Boulder. Anything you're in the mood for is only minutes away.

Claude 'Larry' Fox purchased this chalet in 2003

Why Claude 'Larry' Fox chose Boulder

As I said in my profile, I bought this home because in itself and in its surroundings, it constitutes the best of Colorado. This is my home and not merely a 'rental', but of course I do not stay here when I rent it out to you..

What makes this chalet unique

In the summer I love the balmy gentle warm breezes so much that I never want to go to bed.

In the winter the snow is beautiful and the occasional moose and elk herd that surrounds the house is a real treat to see.

A carpeted tree house is available for the young and/or young at heart, A very nice young man serves as the caretaker and has a separate unit on the lower level of the building. He is the asst manager of the ski shop at Lake Eldora Ski Area and although he is seldom on the property he is available to help you with any house emergencies which may arise. He is totally respectful of your presence and is unobtrusive. The house is independent of everything except electricity. Therefore, if anything should go awry it is important in the owner's absence to have a caretaker to resolve the problem. If for any reason he is not immediately available, you can reach the owner by phone who will then arrange for alternative assistance. Although a four wheel drive is not a requirement it is recommended that you have one during the winter months. Although the main road is a school bus route and is therefore always maintained, a four wheel drive will take the worry out of handling the snow.

Wonderful family retreat

  • 5 of 5

It's a cosy and spacious mountain chalet with very scenic views. We greatly enjoyed our short but sweet stay here. Homy atmosphere combined with very hospitable welcome from the owner made us very happy.

During our stay we saw a magnificent adult moose, enjoyed birdwatching while relaxing in a huge hot tub! Strongly recommend for those thirsting carefree time close to nature. Hi-speed internet is working great, but the owner also provided some board games, books and such to make us feel at home and away from cyber world.

House is exactly as advertised, very much worth it!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. I feel great when the amenities here are enjoyed. Wildlife sighting is always a plus and I'm glad you got o see that bull moose. Playing board games in front of the fireplace is something I enjoy too. I use the hot tub almost every day and I'm glad you also found it enjoyable. It does have a great view and some music and a drink are a plus when using it. I really appreciate your kind review, hope you are able to return some day and will allow ten percent off if you do. Thanks again.

A quiet getaway complete with a hot tub and humming birds

  • 4 of 5

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. With three small dogs and two teenage boys, it was a perfect fit butted up to National Forest for lots of hiking and exploring. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Larry was a pleasure to work with and the caretaker Jeff helped me get in the house when I locked myself out. Even the neighbors were amazing!

Secluded buy yet close to things we wanted to do

  • 5 of 5

We reserved the Fox's Den because I wanted to be out in the mountains, but yet close to some of the things the area offers. This place offered it all. We did some hiking in near Estes and biking near Boulder. Both within an easy driving distance from this place.

Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub which was a nice amenity after hiking and mountain biking.

Thanks Larry for sharing your place!

Owner's Response: Thanks! The affinity of the National Park, Boulder and access to dining, music, theater, hiking and biking are what I enjoy so much; and then being able to be back in the serenity of my place under the continental divide. Glad you enjoyed it.

Just what we needed!

  • 5 of 5

Our family went to Colorado for a vacation at The Fox’s Den and came home very refreshed! We will go back again. Very relaxing with a great view. It was luckily warm, but we used the hot tub anyway!

Cross Country skiing and Snow-shoe hiking can be done out of the house on National Forest Land where there are old mining and logging roads which provide a good path for these activities. A trip down Boulder Canyon is a worthwhile and scenic ride. There are brooks, rivers and lakes in the area. Rocky Mountain National Park is nearby as are old mining and gambling towns like Central City and Blackhawk. Hiking will provide beautiful views of the Continental Divide and Rock Mountians.
