Great home to vacation in with beautiful view of the Gulf!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our time at Alan's beach home, wonderful view of the Gulf, just cross the street and your on the sandy beach:) Or set on the rocking chairs on the deck to relax.

If you want to bike or set out on the beach, he has chairs and umbrella all set up in a wagon to pull out on the beach, great set up!!

If you have trouble sleeping, you won't at this house, Alan has the best of the best in mattresses, excellent sleeping and to add to that, the linens are wonderful, very very nice!!

I loved the crown molding as well as the beautiful window, very lovely vacation home.

Thanks Alan, we look forward to visiting with you again next winter!

Totally impressed!

  • 5 of 5

Totally impressed! When my friend and I walked into Alan Sligh's Beachcomber; WOW! His upstairs house was so spacious and clean. The quaint deck with rustic rockers faced the most beautiful ocean view we've ever seen. Captain Alan was the most gracious and knowledgeable host. Always willing to lend a hand when needed. Our privacy and comfort where his main concerns. We will definitely be staying here again.

Best vacation yet!

  • 5 of 5

Loved this house! Had everything that we needed and more. Captain Alan was more than accommodating and very hospitable! He had everything we needed...and offered more. Let our buddy borrow several fishing poles just so he didn't have to go buy one just for the trip! House was spotless and exactly as advertised, even more beautiful in person. You will not regret staying at the beachcomber. We will most definitely be returning to this beautiful property. If you are coming to stay with friends, you will definitely leave with another one. Captain Alan is the best!!!

House is fine but not as described and not worth the amount being charged

  • 2 of 5

No where on the listing does it say that there is an occupant in an apartment on the lower level of the house. My assumption per the pictures for the listing was the lower level was for storage and parking (for renters). The whole point of renting a house and not a condo was that we would have the whole place to ourselves. Tuesday morning I am awoken at 6:30am by the sound of an idling Diesel engine right outside our bedroom window, followed by the sound of someone breaking ice up and putting it in coolers for TEN MINUTES. This with the constant sound of a slamming screen door. I wanted to sit on the porch one night and listen to the ocean/watch the sunset/read my book in silence. Instead, I had to listen to a conservation going on underneath me while they smoke cigarettes like a freight train. I had to go inside because the smoke was overwhelming. The pictures and description of this house are deceiving. The bathroom was described as 'luxurious' when really it is cramped (my half-bath at home is almost as big as this 'luxurious' bathroom). There is barely room for me and my child to be in there at the same time, and I'm not a big person. The bikes that were offered for use are rusty. The porch and steps need pressure washing.the porch itself was in pretty rough shape. There were at least a dozen nails that needed to be hammered back down. A lot of the boards were warped. There is a board missing on the porch railing that is at the level of our small child (where she could fall off the second-story porch). My husband even offered to nail a board up so we wouldn't have to worry about her falling off the porch. Update: he strung a rope as a make-shift railing while we're here. I'm sure he's going to take it back down once we leave. The rocking chairs on the porch are peeling paint and are just dirty. The listed hanging flower baskets on the front porch were non-existent. The one couch to sit one appears to be 'well-used', with dish cloths as armcovers. When I got in the shower initially on the first night, there was a woman's hair on the shower wall. (We hadn't been in the bathroom yet) The couch had sand all over it. My husband had to brush it off just so we could sit down. There are ZERO extra blankets or pillows in this house. No throw pillows on the couch. No throw blankets either. If you get cold at night, you better bring blankets with you. The point of all this is that this house is fine but it's not worth the amount we paid for it.

Close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

The Beachcomber is a comfortable, clean beach house with a very nice view and just a short walk to the beach. The house was well stocked, and Alan was a very helpful host. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our girl trip.

Great vacation home

  • 5 of 5

House was very clean and comfortable. The front porch was great for morning coffee and dolphin watching. It was so nice to have chairs, umbrella, wagon, sand toys, and bikes there to use. Thoroughly enjoyed our week! Can't wait to go back.
