Top of the world!
An absolutely wonder home with a fantastic view. The climb is well worth the destination.
Mama bear cabin
OMG!!! We had such a wonderful experience!!! The cabin was wonderful. The weather wasn’t too good but the cabin made up for it all. We will definitely book again!!! Thank you.
Beautiful log cabin in the mountains.
Home was beautiful and kitchen was stocked with needed utensils and dishes to prepare meals.
Mama Bear Cabin was absolutely everything we were looking for. Secluded and Beautiful!
Our experience was perfect
Breathtaking views and beautiful cabin
The cabin and views are breathtaking. If you are driving in the winter months make sure you bring the north route in (the south is basically a two track and hard to handle). We also recommend a truck or vehicle with 4x4. The kitchen was properly stocked with utensils, plates, pots and pans. The last occupants left a lot of food in the cupboards and some clothes around but it wasn’t an inconvenience, more so an issue the housekeeping/property manager should have taken care better before our arrival. You get a LOT of house for your dollar. The hot tub was our favorite part! We will definitely be back.
Holiday Family Vacation
The cabin is in a great location if you want to be high in the mountains and well kept! We were able to see deer right from the kitchen window. During snowy days, the main road is cleaned up pretty quickly. Do be careful on foggy days, as you may not be able to see the main road while driving to the cabin. Our family was able to enjoy the mountain views, hot tub, fire pit and fire place. We will definitely consider staying here in the near future.
A 30 minute drive from Mama Bear Cabin in any direction will take you to almost any place you want to go: Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain ski resorts for skiing, tubing, skating, sledding and snowboarding; Grandfather Mountain for hiking and the Mile High swinging bridge; Lake Watauga for boating and canoeing.
The town of Banner Elk is also a 20 minute drive. If you drive another 15-20 you will arrive at Boone or Blowing Rock where there's plenty of shopping and dining options.
Other outdoor activities nearby: biking, fishing, rafting and horseback riding.
No matter what you do, there's always lots of mountain scenery to enjoy.
