Our home is a GREAT VALUE - Just steps from the beach on a quiet cul-de-sac! There are 2 other 8 bedroom homes on our cul-de-sac. They are both oceanfront which means they are a little closer to the dunes. Island Pines is about a 30 second walk from these 2 homes. They both rent for $10,000 - $15,000 per week in the summer! Or, $4000 - $8000 more than Island Pines! That's a lot of money for a 30 second shorter walk!! Call today to reserve your week! Credit cards and checks accepted.
Our home is located on beautiful Island Pines Dr in Waves, NC on the Outer Banks. It is a quiet cul-de-sac that is a perfect family location. 'Island Pines' is only steps from the dunes and ocean but is surrounded by pines and cedars which offer plenty of privacy when you are relaxing by the private pool or on one of the many spacious decks.
Island Pines is large enough for your whole family. There are 5 master bedrooms with private bathrooms so everyone can have their own space while still spending time together. The large kitchen and great room on the top floor are a great place for gathering your group together for meals, games or movies. In the fully stocked kitchen, the 2 dishwashers and large refrigerator will make entertaining easy. There's lots of room for multiple cooks and a huge island for serving.
There is also a 1st floor game room with a pool table and TV. The wet bar with full size refrigerator and microwave will help keep snacks and cold drinks available when you are having fun in or out of the sun.
Also on the 1st floor, there are 2 large master bedrooms with king beds and private bathrooms, as well as a bedroom with a pyramid bunk bed that has access to the full hall bath.
There are 4 bedrooms, a hall bath and a laundry area with washer and dryer on the 2nd floor. Two of the bedrooms are master bedrooms with king beds and private bathrooms. Each of these rooms has a sliding glass door that faces the ocean and offers access to the shaded deck overlooking the pool. Open the slider wide to let in ocean breezes and the sound of waves crashing against the sand!
There is also another large king bedroom and a kid's bedroom with 2 pyramid bunks that share the full hall bath. Each of these rooms has access via a patio door to a shaded deck which is a perfect place for relaxing with a book or taking an afternoon nap.
Just up the stairs on the third floor you will find one more large king master bedroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. This bedroom also has a slider which opens to the top sun deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee and scan the ocean for glimpses of dolphins playing in the surf. A loft just above the great room is a quiet place for playing a board game, enjoying the view or checking email.
Island Pines has something to keep everyone happy, but of course you'll want to spend time outside in the sunshine. The soft sand and warm waters of the Outer Banks are just a 2 minute walk across the quiet cul-de-sac. Enjoy swimming, fishing or just walking along the beautiful seashore. The beach is huge, wide open and uncrowded. Cast your line right into the surf or walk down to the Rodanthe Pier for deeper water fishing without the time and expense of a chartered boat.
For the water sports enthusiast in your group, Waves is an ideal location. The area is world-renowned for windsurfing and kite surfing. You will see these adventurous athletes out on the water just about every day. Just a 5 minute walk down Island Pines Dr (located behind Dairy Queen) is a rental company where lessons and equipment are available for surfing, kayaking and windsurfing. From there you will have direct access to the quieter waters of the sound. We are also just minutes away (about a 1/2 mile) from REAL Watersports - THE place to go to for kiteboarding, surfing, paddleboarding lessons and equipment.
At the end of the day, enjoy a short walk down the quiet, tree-lined Island Pines Dr to 'Top Dog Cafe' for a burger or to Dairy Queen for an ice cream cone and a spectacular view of the sun setting over the sound.
You won't want to leave the Outer Banks, but remember that Island Pines will always be there to welcome you back for another great family vacation!

This house was a perfect fit for our family - 8 adults and 11 children ages 2 - 18: the proximity from the beach and to the local sights, the pool table, pool and hot tub, even built in child gates on each level. The beach was beautiful and offered lots of room for our tribe. Waves were suitable for our surfers and the tide pools were great for the toddlers. The number and size of bedrooms and baths were especially good. But, the "public area" on the top floor was just beautiful. Large windows enabled sea sightings even though the house is not situated beachfront. The soaring ceiling, the furniture and layout at the seating area, the wonderful kitchen ( with two dishwashers - Yes!) and dining area all worked together for ample elbow room with our large group. Lisa was most accommodating, answering emailed questions promptly and patiently. We would recommend this house enthusiastically!
(As far as "age 55+" - the main living area is on the third floor and if there are any leg/stair issues, this is something to take into consideration.)
This was our first trip to the OBX and it was perfect! It all began with Lisa, the owner of the home who was really helpful in answering any questions I had about the place and area. There were 9 of us staying there all in our mid-late 30's. The house was perfect and the layout was great. We especially enjoyed the openness of the family room and the kitchen where we spent a large amount of time cooking together and grilling. The kitchen really had nearly everything you would need.
The beach was such a short walk that it was easy to spend a few hours there, come back to lounge by the pool and then go back to the beach if you wanted to. The beach was great because it wasn't crowded and the waves were plentiful. Very relaxing!
We did a large amount of our grocery shopping when we arrived and did not eat out a lot, so can't comment too much on the places to eat nearby. We did try top dog cafe which was great (get the fish tacos!!), and also checked out a new place about 1/2 mile walk down called Waterman's Bar and Grill which has live bands on some nights. It was pretty cool and we would definitely go back.
We worked with shore details to get some towels, linens for the beds and beach chairs. They were great to work with and the rental costs for the linens were very really reasonable. They were also there if we had any issues and responded quickly. We had to call them when we went to grill as the propane tank was empty and quickly had it replaced for us and apologized for any inconvenience. Super sweet people.
We had such a great time that we are planning on staying there again and have already reserved our week for next year!
Words cannot adequately express how exceptional this fabulous home is and how "perfect" our family vacation turned out to be. Not only is it conveniently located -- a quick walk to the beach, restaurants, Dairy Queen, fruit markets and the like -- but all of the amenities make it easy to stay put and enjoy all there is to offer! The kitchen is equipped with every appliance and utensil you could possibly need and the dishes, flatware, mixing bowls, casserole dishes etc. are plentiful. The convenience and size of the pool and hot tub, make it comfortable for any age and any number. We had 22 in our family group! The home has a large gathering space with plenty of seating -- on the main level (level 3) as well as a pool table on the first floor and lots of games, cards and pool toys for the kids. I especially liked the convenience of being able to hose off our sandy feet before entering the house. Even the deck and pool seating was comfortable and more than enough to accommodate our group. The only thing I would suggest, is making it known, up front, that linens are not provided and sheets and towels need to be either brought from home, or rented. However, the Shore Details organization they use for this service is extremely helpful and cooperative. The price is very reasonable as well, but it would have been helpful to know that in advance. In any event, everything from my initial phone call, to our departure was better than I would have expected!!! And the Friday to Friday rental is the best way to go!!! No long traffic lines coming or going. This will be a memorable vacation for years to come. Thanks, Lisa, for opening your home to families like ours!!!
I planned for a year for "Cousins at the Coast" ...and with this house to share with my family it was everything I hoped it would be. Spacious, CLEAN, a very short walk to the beach thru the dunes, and a feeling of privacy offered by the foliage around the property. For our group of 17, from toddlers to grandparents, the house was a comfortable fit for everyone with all the comforts of home. The kitchen was equipped with much more than I imagined making cooking for a large group fun & easy. The gameroom/pool area was the nightly entertainment hub for the cousins. Within minutes of getting out of bed, I was walking along the beach watching the sunrise every morning. Tucked away on Island Pines Drive we enjoyed privacy, family, beach, relaxing, playing pool, swimming in the pool, hot tub, FUN. Convenient location allowed us to visit numerous tourist attractions. With a very short drive, we could choose shopping at privately owned shops (art, jewelry, books) or the more commercial souvenir stores. The informative emails exchanged with the owner were helpful in planning for my first ever beach vacation. I would book this house again - wonderful memories for our family - incredible value!
Every 2 years my extended family get together for a vacation and this year we decided to travel to OBX. Each member has our "must haves" in the house we would choose and this property had it all! We were able to meet everyone's needs with a large number of master bedrooms/baths, having our own pool and hot tub, being so close to the beach, large kitchen, several gaming areas, and all the amenities offered in the house. Everything was clean and well maintained. We had a couple small instances where we needed maintenance to come over to assist and they responded promptly and were very friendly. We have had a great experience all the way from the time we started and booking the property, to the pleasant cleaning staff, and even got a nice note in the mail from the owners at the conclusion of our stay. We had a couple days of rain, but we made the best of it by scurrying down to the beach each time the sun popped out and even swam in the pool during the lighter drizzles. The rainy days were short lived and having the pool and beach so accessible really made it easy for us. Our favorites in the area: eating dinner at the restaurant at the end of the street, touring at the Lighthouse, having a fire down on the beach, playing games at the house, dolphin tour, the Pier, and of course swimming & playing on the beach. We would definitely stay at this property again. Thank you for a wonderful week!!
Our family had a GREAT time in Waves. The house location is EXCELLENT (right off the beach) and the kids loved the pool after a day in the ocean. The house itself was as advertised! (What a view from the top floor.) The best part is that we weren't on top of each other; my wife and I plus my 3 children with their families (8 grandkids) each had their own bedrooms and bathroom. At nlght the grandkids loved walking to the Dairry Queen for a little snack!
If you're looking for a GREAT family beach vacation, I highly recommend this property!!
