The Lodge combines creativity with practicality while always taking advantage of the natural ambiance of the Caribbean. The 5,000 sq. ft. Lodge includes six master bedrooms each with a private terrace, a king-sized bed and en-suit bathroom. With the additional lofted bedroom, the Lodge can accommodate a total of 16 guests. All rooms are equipped with high-speed wireless Internet. A 42' TV to enjoy movies and the use of a local cellular phone during your stay.

In addition to the exciting local attractions and charming accommodations, the Lodge and Bocas del Toro are just a 45 minute plane ride away from Panama City. Visit one of the great wonders of the world, the Panama Canal. Guests can depart in the morning from Bocas and enjoy the canal while having lunch at the Mira Flores Locke's.

Outstanding location and people

The island, beach and people (hosts, caretaker, cook) are wonderful. Armodio (caretaker who lives next door) and his family made our stay so enjoyable and easy. Ely’s assistance with getting to and from the airport was very helpful. We hired Adi to cook a few meals for us and they were outstanding (our kids are still talking about the tacos she made). Watching the sunrise and listening to the birds on the 2nd story balcony every morning was a highlight for me. The lodge is very large and provided more than enough space for our group of 4 kids and 4 adults. The kids had a blast with easy access to swim, snorkel and play on the beach. We enjoyed an island boat tour, a trip to Green Acres Chocolate Farm (about 20-3 minute water taxi away), morning coffee at Casa Acuario (5-10 minute walk), ice cream and surf lessons at Mukundo (5 minute walk), and watching the sunset at Cosmic Crab (2-3 minute boat taxi). The lodge is rustic/tropical and Bocas is experiencing a drought which (rightly so) limits water use. If you are seeking luxurious accommodations, this is not the rental for you. If you seek comfortable accommodations with easy access to amazing people, activities, some dining and the beach…10/10 recommend. Bring bug spray.

Beautiful House in Paradise!

We had a wonderful stay at Vista Azul. Easy and friendly communication from the host and wonderful hospitality from the team on the ground (Ely and Armodio) who stayed in touch with us throughout the visit and made sure we had everything we needed. Carenero is a beautiful island with a few great restaurants and bars in easy walking distance of the house. We especially loved the laid back vibe at Coquito's, the excellent Sunday BBQ at Receta Michilá and the amazing espresso and breakfasts at Casa Aquario. The chitras (no-see-ums) are no joke on the island, so bring plenty of bug spray!

Perfect Location

The location was absolutely perfect. Right next to the beach and an easy walk to a few restaurants. Water taxi was easy to take to different islands and the main town. This is the best spot if you want a sand beach and calm water that is easy for kids to swim in.

Paradise

Everything was perfect about this property. Location was private with some beach goers that we shared our days with. The house was very spacious, beds comfortable, and outdoor space perfect. It was a short walk to fun eateries, or a 5 minute boat ride to town The staff was awesome, Armodio went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. I would definitely recommend this property for anyone visiting Boca.

About the host

Hosted by Peter and Andrea Kent

Peter Kent, arrived in Bocas Del Toro, Panama in 1993, one of the first foreigners to settle in the area. Originally from England, he has lived in Spain, France, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Costa Rica, on top of many years spent traveling the world. Throughout his life, he worked on a wide range of international construction projects, gaining experience. Peter has designed, developed and constructed numerous homes throughout the Bocas Del Toro Islands. His construction experience allows him to navigate the challenging development process of Panama, while his keen eye results in inspirational designs for each of the unique homes.

Andrea Kent is originally from Northern California, but lived in Costa Rica as a teenager. Her parents own a Resort in Costa Rica, they traveled to Bocas and met Peter, became good friends and ten years later met their daughter Andrea (for the first time). Fell in love, were married and now enjoy their son Orion. The Interior Designer graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California and has since applied her unique creative talents to both commercial and residential design projects, domestically and abroad. After founding Hawking Design Group, she became a reoccurring featured designer on the Home and Garden Television Network. The Kentways homes, including Vista Azul Lodge, benefit from Andrea's ability to marry traditional Caribbean style with more contemporary design and conveniences. Not a single design element goes untouched, resulting in inspired homes, built in the islands of Bocas Del Toro.

Why they chose this property

Peter bought the 100 acre property back in '94, 'I knew where I would eventually build my residence. I waited for my soul partner to cross my path so as to build our dream home together but the time was not yet. So I started to build, when the interior stage was upon me, I met my wife who turned out to be an interior designer'.
