This little home is beautifully furnished and the best kept secret get away in Taos. The house has a latilla fenced yard with lovely gardens and private parking, on a dead end road in one of the quietest areas in Arroyo Seco. Centrally located between Taos Plaza and Taos Ski Valley, it is a great home base for all the sights and activities in our beautiful area. We welcome your best friend dogs, too! (There is a one time $50 pet fee).
The Casita has a gourmet kitchen furnished with lots of spices and basics plus all the accoutrements including French press, blender, microwave, and both gas and charcoal grills. The living area is attached with a comfy daybed and lots of pillows plus a trundle for sleeping downstairs if you don't feel like going up to the queen loft with gorgeous views of the mountains and even a waterfall! The little sundeck off the bedroom is always the best place to catch some rays, and the beds are bamboo and 600 count cotton sheets with down comforters and pillows. There are 2 TV's, one in the bedroom and a large screen in the living area, plus a stereo-CD-tape player and free WI-FI. There is a big deck with a hot tub, and a few reading nooks under the shade trees in your quiet fenced yard.
There are lovely roads to walk or bike ride from your door, and its only 2 or 3 miles into the charming village of Arroyo Seco with great coffee shops, dining and shopping and even a little grocery store. For bookings over 2 weeks we provide maid service after the 14th day. The serenity and privacy make this an exceptional place to relax and rejuvenate.

My husband Joe and I have lived in Taos for over 30 years and love it!
Kitty Franzetti purchased this cottage in 1991
I built this little casita in Taos just before my mother died in 1991. I wanted a small private cozy house that was easy to maintain in a quiet area, its really a dream come true!
One of the best qualities of this property is the views and the quiet of the area. The property sits on 1 and a half acres, and because we are in a very rural area the stars at night are unimaginable, and really wonderful to enjoy from the warmth of the hot tub, even on very chilly nights (as long as you don't get your hair wet!)
Twenty-five years ago we came through here, a honeymoon trip, on motorcycles leaded with sleeping bags, tents and miscellaneous gear.
Twenty-five years laer at Kittys
Casita ~ soft beds, cozy sheets, warms showers, red wine and steak and lobster!! AHHHH ~ age does have its advantages!
A beautiful week ~ in a beautiful place.
Rented Kitty's casita from Aug. 5th - 8th of this year. The pictures looked great and the actual rental, even better.
The adobe casita sits on the back of Kitty's property and is very private. Large fenced in yard for our dogs, they loved it. The hot tub was a great way to chill and relax after a long day. The main level consists of the living area and kitchen with the bathroom around the side hallway where there is a large closet for hanging clothing as well as shelves. The stairs up to the bedroom area are rather steep, and the dogs did not want to venture up. The bedroom , which is a loft is very comfortable with plenty of storage in the dresser.
The area surrounding the adobe is very quiet and peaceful. It is just a short 2 mile drive into Arroyo Seco, and Taos is just another easy 9 mile drive down the road. We thought we had made a mistake staying so far out of Taos, but it ended up being the main reason we will return again.
Thank you Kitty for letting stay in your casita, we will be returning soon.
The nine days I spent at Kitty's Casita in Arroyo Seco (5 miles outside of Taos) were thoroughly delightful---everything I'd hoped for in a 'retreat' and base for reconnecting with the magic of Taos after 22 years away. Kitty was a wonderful host; I especially appreciated her thoughtfulness in checking to see whether I was home before mowing the lawn or bringing in a service person. She was both friendly and respectful of my privacy. The Casita itself is darling and lovingly tended. Clean, comfortable, well- appointed, and with cooling shade trees in the backyard. The new hot tub was great--though I will say it would have been preferred had the heating element not run nearly perpetually; personally, I much prefer the lovely quiet of the surrounding area, sans hot tub noise! Just my preference. The only other 'heads up' to an otherwise glowing and appreciative stay ( and review) is that the steps to the sleeping loft are very (!) steep; wise to hold both of those hand rails and not to try to carry too many things up/ down at a given time. All-in-all, I HIGHLY recommend Kitty's Casita; it was tough to leave and I look forward to returning!
I loved this property. Very private. Though I stayed in the Winter I could tell the grounds must be quite special in the growing season given the number of planting beds. Kitty even gave us a jar of homemade peach jam!!! for her yard. The place was perfect in every way. If something needed attention it was done right away!!! The pilot blew out on the water heater and within a few minutes it was re-lit for us. Will stay again.
This was the 4th or 5th time we've stayed at Kitty's. The location is excellent. The casita is cozy and warm. Our dogs love the stay as much as we do and have become friends with Kitty's Labs. Kitty is always very helpful if we need anything. The view from the bedroom window is awesome....less than a half mile from the base of El Salto, with Taos Mountain directly south. Arroyo Seco, the little village a mile a way looks like something you might see in the Alps, and there's ALWAYS something to do in Taos. Every year I attend at least 2 or 3 concerts.
This rental is so charming. We were there in late October when the Aspens and Cottonwoods turn golden/yellow glowing wonderful. Waking to the golden light was so magical. There is a great gas grill and we had some of our meals out on the deck looking at the mountains which already had some snow on them. Great place! We plan on returning.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Kitty's Casita, and we will treasure our memories there! Her rental is brimming with charm; it's a cozy adobe casita filled with tasteful southwestern decor and everything you need for a great stay. For those who want to cook in, the kitchen is stocked with coffee filters, spices, oil, and plenty of cooking utensils. The yard is a fantastic escape with mountain views and a hot tub. The bedroom is a cozy loft with great views. Just note that the stairs up to it are quite steep. But if that isn't an issue for you, this is truly the perfect vacation spot. We adored it!
