Stunningly Designed Cottage on a private corner of a historic 100 acre farm. Situated on a scenic bluff overlooking the legendary Shenandoah River and Blue Ridge Mountains this 'cottage' has a stone fireplace and wood beamed ceilings through the main floor. In addition to three covered porches (including one with a Hot Tub) there is a 34' second floor deck overlooking the river. At river level there is a multi-level deck and 30' floating dock right on the water. Perfect for boating fishing, swimming or just enjoying the sun and water. Less than one hour from the Washington Beltway and Dulles Airport. There are numerous restaurants, shops, golf courses, wineries, National Parks (Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park, George Washington National Forest), hiking trails (Appalachian Trail), battlefields etc are literally ten to twenty minutes away. Then, of course- best of all, your own piece the Shenandoah River!

About Frank O'Reilly and Sean O'Reilly

My wife Angelique and I bought this historic property from a family that had owned it for 155 years! This once in a lifetime chance (several lifetimes actually) was simply too much to miss. With such a spectacular riverfront location, our goal was to create the most memorable vacation retreat in the Shenandoah Valley. After years of planning and design for a river cottage, to compliment the existing renovated farmhouse (a ten minute walk away through the woods and rolling fields), the results are yours to enjoy. One of our sons Sean took over online reservations in 2012 but dad Frank is still the 'boots on the ground' and will be on the other end of the phone if you call. Our family never tires of it and it is our joy to share it with you.

Property was amazing

I’m late leaving this review, but our stay here was amazing. Within ten minutes my kids and husband were asking if we could stay longer. It is a bit of a drive up to the house but it’s worth it! The house is gorgeous, the details put into the house are top notch. All of the bedrooms had amazing views and were so comfortable. There is a hill you have to climb down/up to get to the river but again it’s worth it. I brought four of my six children there and they all caught 4-8 fish each. We used the kayaks and they loved it. We made a fire in the fire pit and s’mores. We loved the hot tub. I can’t say enough about this house. We can’t wait to stay again, but for a week. A few days just isn’t enough. If you’re into details of the interior of the home, this has it all. The kitchen, lighting all of the extras put into this makes it the absolute best house we have stayed in. The owners were easy to get in touch with, and so nice and accommodating. I really can’t say enough about this house it was wonderful.

Thanksgiiving in the woods was fantastic. This is the perfect place to get disconnected from the fast pace of life and reconnect with family. The location was great, the house is clean and decorated nicely. This is on our must revisit list we loved it that much.

Absolutely stunning, relaxing place to visit!

Property was clean, well maintained, and overall in a perfect location. Close to shopping and restaurants, far enough away to feel like you’re completely secluded. The owners were unbelievably nice and accommodating. The home was clean and had all of the basic ammedities you would need. We will definitely be coming back!

Exceeded our expectations

We had very high expectations for this trip, meeting with friends, and this mountain retreat. The cottage exceeded our expectations. Delightful cottage, wonderful floor plan, top quality amenities and features, and a peaceful, quiet lot, all contributed to a perfect experience. The O'Reilly's are wonderful hosts and we feel the rate was very fair.

Beautiful property, great getaway!!!

We had a wonderful time at this property!! The house itself is so lovely. It is well appointed, cozy, comfortable and spacious. Then there's the outside space - amazing!! The views are so beautiful and we really made the most of the river. We enjoyed swimming, kayaking, canoeing and fishing right off our own dock. The house would be great even in cooler weather as there is a fire pit and hot tub and again the amazing views make it worthwhile any time of year. The owners were very responsive to a couple questions we had (they even delivered fire wood so that we were fully stocked!!). We will definitely be coming back to this house!!

Beautiful setting!

A lovely home, but more could have gone into preparing for the guests e.g. airing and some airfreshner could have removed some of the stuffiness. The cushions on the chairs outside were wet and took a couple of days to dry. Otherwise, the family-get-together was a tremendous success and we enjoyed the kayaking and evenings by the fires. The Shenandoah National Park and the Luray Caverns were superb local attractions. Thank you Sean!
