Comfortable and Pleasant Stay

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the property while in town to participate in a half-marathon. The property had everything we needed to have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. It was very conveniently located, in a quiet neighborhood, with easy access to all parts of the town of Cottonwood. I would recommend this property for anybody looking to spend a weekend in the area.

Affordable and convenient

  • 4 of 5

The property was what I expected. A very good value. Not fancy at all, nor particularly scenic but so close to everything. It was very well stocked with pillows and towels. Very important to us. The kitchen is also very well stocked. We only went into Sedona one day because there are so many beautiful options around and Sedona is crowded. Don't miss the opportunity to visit Old Town Cottonwood which is far less crowded than Sedona and very charming.

Ok price, but poorly maintained, omitted important facts in site ad.

  • 3 of 5

The house is an 20 year old manufactured home that has not had decent maintenance. Carpets are filthy, some pillows smell like sweat, showers have long-term crusted crud on corners, cracks and scuffs on walls, grill surface is very rusted, windows when opened show thick accumulation of dirt at bottom of frames, and stains on furniture. I have photos to corroborate these statements.

Basically, the house has not has a good, deep cleaning in a long time

The location is stated as Cottonwood, but is in fact, in Verde Village, a good two miles south through a traffic heavy major strip mall area.

The owner/ manager did not advertise that there is NO mail service to the house. No mailbox. When I called the manager, I was informed that I could pay for a UPS box or put in a street-side mail box at my expense.

Would I return to this place, or have my wife stay here? No.

Finally, I was required to sign a contract directly with the owner, and the checks were sent directly to the owner in San Diego, with no indication anywhere that VRBO was involved in the transaction. This might be normal, but given the other "omissions" I encountered, it seems a bit sketchy.

Owner's Response: Dear William, Thank you very much for your response, and we appreciate your comments. We need suggestions to be sure each guest feels at home with every stay. We usually have two times a year when the schedule is light enough to accomplish maintenance and carpet cleanings, due to your early arrival we were not able to schedule larger maintenance items as we had a guest through the Christmas holiday. If you had called me or our cleaner during your stay, perhaps we could have addressed any concerns. Most of our clients are weekly or weekend guests and typically have their mail held by the U.S. postal service, if we had discussed the matter prior to your stay rather than a month later we would have been happy to work with you over mail situation. I knew you were not traveling with your wife so I did not think that mail would be an issue. Otherwise, I hope you enjoyed your stay in Cottonwood.

Spacious and Affordable in Cottonwood

  • 3 of 5

We came to Cottonwood this year for our family reunion. This house was a nice place to come to between reunion activities and at night. Our toddlers had room to get all the wiggles out and adults had room to retreat to a quiet spot when needed. We did have a major problem with the keys and door. The keys did not work well in the lock and on one occasion we needed to use the spare key which worked on the dead bolt but not well at all on the door knob. We were locked out for what seemed an afternoon with babies and children taking refuge in a car and the weather threatening rain. We finally jiggled the key around in the lock long enough to open the door, but we didn't chance locking it again. I also felt that the place had not really been prepped for our stay (laundry in the dryer and a huge cobweb in the smaller bathroom). All in all, my family did enjoy the stay and felt it was quite adequate. The people I contacted about the property and the lock problem were very helpful and friendly.

Exactly What We Needed!

  • 5 of 5

My parents live in the Verde Valley and we make the trip out each year to visit them. I am always looking for a place to stay that won't bust our budget, but still gives us a place to spread out little. We have a teen and a 4 year old, so it's nice to have separate bedrooms so the teen can sleep in and the preschooler can be put down for a nap, etc. It's also great to have a kitchen, so that I can host for dinner and my mother doesn't end up doing all the cooking. Anyway, this rental is just perfect for us - economical, spacious, back yard for the little one to run around in and the property is close to the relatives we've come to visit. Like I said, exactly what we needed.

The owner response was also very prompt and professional. We would gladly rent this property again if it is available at our next visit.
