About Barbara

I live in New York City and East Hampton, NY. I am a singer songwriter and write music and lyrics for myself and other recording artists, television, advertising, and all media. I grew up in Salt Lake City and after college, I came to New York to begin a career in music. As a regular vacationer in the Hamptons, I was excited when I was able to build my own home there. I had travelled the world, had lived and worked in Sweden, Norway and Switzerland as a singer/songwriter. and had many archtectural and design ideas I picked up from my travels abroad in addition to my own artistic sensibilities. I chose East Hampton, the most happening area of the Hamptons, with easy access to all the other hamlets from Southampton to Montauk. I purchased the land, in an area on the fringe of East Hampton village, Hansom Hills, which is almost an acre, and built this house in 2001, on a quiet street in a desirable and convenient area, with privacy, yet not totally isolated. I wanted my home to be away from the noise of roads and highways, so the sounds you hear are birds chirping and your own splashing in the pool. I carefully designed a practical yet upscale home, true to the area, using top grade materials and chose a design conscious master builder. Thoroughout this one story house, it is custom designed with charming furniture and fabrics, antiques, and with wood floors throughout. Windows and glass sliding doors all have views of greenery, landscaping and a stunning view of the pool and backyard can be seen from the Living Room, and Master Bedroom and Guest Bedroom. Through the Living Room you reach an outdoor dining area with a rotisserie grill. There is a lovely landscaped backyard with a lawn area, a brick path surrounding the pool, a chaise lounge area for sunbathing and tall trees providing privacy. I began renting in the summer of 2002.

Why Barbara chose East Hampton

I wanted a home that would be convenient, comfortable, beautiful and with all the amenities I would need plus they would meet the criteria and needs of my rental customers. The house is set back 90 feet from the road with lovely front yard landscaping, including a beautiful Japanese maple, and a stone path to the front porch. Upon entering, you first see the open plan living space with the Living Room, it's vaulted ceiling, high triangular windows, a custom carved and granite surrounded fireplace and cheerful comfortable double couch seating with a view of the HDTV and other components in the entertainment center. Shifting into the dining area there is a dark green wooden buffet and a white carved dining table with seating for 6. For the huge kitchen space I picked appliances in stainless steel, granite countertops including a peninsula with 3 high chairs (good breakfast or computer space), an island in the center, and fixture finishes in brushed nickel. The Master Bedroom also has vaulted ceilings and it's own fireplace, a stunning wrought iron framed king size bed, antique chest of drawers, HDTV and sliding glass doors leading to decking where there is outdoor furniture for 2. There is a large walk in closet and ensuite Master Bath (also accessible from the hallway) which has a large whirlpool, separate shower, mirrored granite topped vanity and medicine chest, designer toilet and porcelain tiled floors and whirlpool casing. The first Guest Bedroom has a Queen Bed, HDTV and antique chest of drawers and it's own large shower bathroom. The second Guest Bedroom, has two twin beds with colorful antique quilting. There is an upstairs laundry for your convenience with beach towels and laundry supplies. In the basement you will find umbrellas and sand chairs for the beach. This house is designed for comfort, easy accessibility, lots of space for entertaining, and is convenient to the village and bay and ocean beaches.

What makes this house unique

I call this the 3 minute house. You do not have to drive great distances when you suddenly need something or want to go out and eat, or go shopping, or go to the beach. Just a few minutes away, is the East Hampton village with a great movie house, all kinds of shopping, museums, restaurants, and many other conveniences. Also just minutes away, is Sag Harbor, Wainscott, Bridgehampton, Amagannsett (with the famous Stephen's Talk House music venue), Water Mill and Southampton. You can find farmer markets, and special events are listed in local papers like Dan's or the East Hampton Star. I also leave an online link for weekly activities and other printed information. You can rent a bicycle, go kayaking, boating, fishing (Montauk), hiking, take a ferry over to Shelter Island, go to bay and ocean beaches and enjoy the home you have rented for barbecued dinners and relaxing by the pool.

Your comments and questions are welcome. I have been renting this house in East Hampton, primarily through real estate agents for 13 years. The house was built by me in 2001. I have rented year round 5 times and complete summers (MD-LD) 6 times. For the first time ever in the summer I have short stays available due to a tenant having to cancel due to visa problems. I am a seasoned home owner and renter and you can be assured your needs will be met. It is in my best interest to provide you with the best and most accurate information to ensure a great vacation or a seasonal home.
