About Faye

Hi we are a loving couple, married for over 30 yrs and enjoy flipping house.

We renovated this one in 2005 to sell but instead decided to rent it. We hope it brings your family some fun memories as it has ours.

Faye purchased this house in 2005

Why Faye chose St. Augustine

You will love Lincolnville's history. Our family business is down the street called the corner-market One side consists of bakery goods, health foods and quick stop conveniences and the other side is the barbershop and another section is a clothing boutique. The building itself has a lot of history. This is a very quiet neighborhood and the people are great. The backyard also gives you some privacy. Mom also is around the corner and man she bakes delicious cake which they sell sometimes in the market down the street check it out.

What makes this house unique

I fell in love with the porches on this home especially in the front because you can sit and meditate or watch people walking their dog.. Also their is off street parking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Want to live here

  • 5 of 5

The home was furnished in a way that provided an option of having privacy if you wanted it, or if all 7 of us wanted to hang out together there was space for that as well. Very roomy, plenty options for my 87 year old mother down to my 5 year old grandson. My Mom enjoyed sitting on the front porch, she said the neighborhood was very quiet. She enjoyed hearing the church bells. I myself loved the second floor porch with the padded lounge chairs chilling out there under the stars after a long day in the city. The house is within walking distance of Tram Stop at the Distillery, which made it convenient.

I did not get to meet the owner, but every time I texted a question she got right back to me. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay special.

Great Value

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at De Haven Retreat. The house was big and roomy enough for the 4 of us. I liked the separate TV rooms so the kids could have their own space and my husband and I could relax without the TV on.

The kids enjoyed the enclosed balcony with the available toys. The master bed was pretty small compared to the king size we are used to at home, so we didn't sleep as comfortably, but we don't sleep well at hotels either so it's no different really. The only complaint I would say is that the cleaning company didn't really do a good job. The house wasn't dirty, but it was dustier and a little less "sparkling" than I keep my house. I realize that's not a deal breaker for most people and just a product of my OCD.

Overall we had a great time and it was a perfect place with plenty of space for us to relax.

So much that's great, and a few things that could use improvement

  • 3 of 5

There's a lot to like about this house. The price is reasonable, the decor is nice, the layout is convenient, the neighborhood (Lincolnville) is charming, and so close to the historical downtown area. 7 adults and one toddler were here for my niece's wedding, and we enjoyed our stay very much. However, the owners should look into getting a new cleaning service, as the house was rather dirty in places. Also, there was insufficient toilet paper, so we had to purchase our own. The smoke detectors kept going off for no reason. Someone came and adjusted them, but awhile later, they went off again, so we had to disable them. Light bulbs were out, and no spares were to be found anywhere. There are no towel bars in the bathrooms, and no mirrors in the bedrooms. A few tweaks here and there, and sufficient supplies (like tp and light bulbs) could really improve this place. St. Augustine is definitely worth a visit. And the owners have collected lots of menus and brochures for local restaurants and attractions, to help you choose your destinations. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the suggestions but you only called about the smoke detectors and I sent someone right over. if it still continued with the problem I would've looked into the issue further. As for the other issues you should've let us know and we would send someone over to take care of it and as it says in the check in information we leave a small starter supply which was 6 rolls of toilet paper. We believe in customer service we want our guests to have the best stay possible. For your next stay we would like to offer you 10% discount.

We had my daughter's wedding a few blocks away at the River House. This house was PERFECT! We had family in town from all over and the home gave us plenty of room to relax and visit and get ready for the big day. Rooms were comfortable and the house is very spacious. Thank you for sharing your home with us, and on short notice!!! Owners were very quick to respond to any questions.

Was just what we needed!!

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we had a great experience! It was such a convenient location, only a $6 Uber ride to and from the downtown historic district and definitely walking distance for those of us that wanted to. It had everything we needed- linens, dishes, coffee pot, soap, shampoo, paper towels and toilet paper, etc. The outdoor spaces were awesome for the beautiful weather we had too! There was a little construction next door, but nothing that bothered us. The only thing we noticed that could be considered a con is that it could have been slightly cleaner, there were a few marks and dust on the walls, doors, etc. especially in the kitchen. However, we would definitely stay again when coming to St. Augustine- thanks, again!!
