Watch the sunrise from the spacious deck of this charming beachfront cottage or spend an afternoon watching the local surfers as they ride the waves. Located on the quiet northern end of Amelia Island, this is the perfect getaway for a small family. This cottage sits on stilts overlooking the pristine waters of the Atlantic. The only thing between you and the ocean is a sandy one-way lane used to access these quaint family beach homes. Enjoy the beach like a local, by enjoying an ice cream at the oceanfront park with playground or playing a round of Putt-Putt Golf, all located only one block away. You will love this quiet, safe beach where City of Fernandina Beach Lifeguards are on duty during the daytime.
After a day on the beach, stroll downtown to the Historic District to enjoy dinner at one of the many fine dining establishments. You will find everything from sandwich shops to 5 Star Restaurants, with most offering fresh seafood daily. After dinner, swing by the local coffee shop for dessert and a cafe au lait, or cross the street to the fudge shop to watch candy being made by hand. Don't forget to check out the local boutiques, art galleries and antique shops where you will find original and one-of-a kind items and artwork. After the sun goes down, you'll want to visit the local pubs, where you will find a variety of live music. Bike, moped and golf cart rentals are available from local vendors. Each Saturday morning there is a local farmer's market where you can buy everything from fresh vegetables and artisan breads to handmade enchiladas and boiled peanuts. If you prefer a pool to the ocean, the City of Fernandina pool is a 5 minute walk. It is heated during cooler months and boasts an incredible kids area. Right next door to the city pool is brand new 'Pirate Playground' one of the few all inclusive, handicapped accessible playgrounds in the state. It was designed with children of all abilities in mind.

We choose this area of the beach because of its quiet, family-friendly atmosphere. This is where the locals go for a quiet day at the shore. Most of the beach houses in this area are owned by families who have vacationed here for generations. The northern end of the island exemplifies that laid back, 'old Florida' lifestyle that we think our guests will love.
We want our renters to feel like they are guests in our home. We have lived in Fernandina Beach for over 40 years and are available for restaurant and activity recommendations and any questions they may have. We go the extra mile to make sure guests enjoy their beach vacation and return again and again.
We just concluded an amazing week at Kim's cottage. The cottage was the perfect size and location for our family of four. The views of the ocean, dunes and sunrise are breathtaking, the beach access couldn't have been more convenient - especially with two young kids - and the cottage was equipped with everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. Even in the heart of peak season we had an abundance of space and privacy on the beach. Personally, we much preferred the location, ocean views, convenience and access to restaurants during our vacation at Kim's cottage to even our stay at the Ritz-Carlton resort a few years ago. Beyond endless days on the beach we enjoyed a sunset cruise on the Amelia River, Nana Teresa's bake shop, several local restaurants, grilled dinner watching sunsets and a even had picnic lunch on the Fort Clinch pier while watching dozens of dolphins swim. We had a lovely vacation!!
I wish I could give a 4 1/2 star...
We really enjoyed this beach house. Everything was as decribed. Great beach! Some of the nicest locals I've ever found and the owner was as accomodating as could be. Hope to be back!
WOW ! I knew my research paid off when my Fiance' walked into the cottage for the first time and was brought to tears by the beauty, impeccable styling and cleanliness of this home. While we live less than 1 hour from Fernandina Beach, we had decided to take a 6 day mini vacation from work and find a small, romantic place on the beach that we could spend some quality time with each other over the Fourth of July holiday.Kim's Cottage on the Beach exceeded our expectations and dreams in every way possible!
After the initial shock of just how beautiful this home is, the next thing that really impressed us was the QUIET. Even over the busy, or should I say "busy Fernandina Style" holiday, all we could really hear was the sound of the surf pounding on the beach. The view of the beach from the large deck is
fantastic, and as the cottage is raised, was never hindered by the barrier dunes covered in Sea Oats or the occasional vehicle or bicycle running along the sand road in front. Sitting on the upscale furniture provided on the deck truly gives the feeling of actually sitting right on the beach.
The Cottage is very open and airy and is bathed in sunlight in the mornings offering gorgeous views of the sunrise while providing shade in the late afternoon on the deck.
The interior is immaculate with all new appliances and professionally decorated making us feel like we were the first ones to ever stay in the home.
I could never say enough about the owner, Kim. She had made us feel so welcome even before our arrival. She catered to our every need and then some. She provided unexpected extra's everywhere we looked and proved that traditional "Southern Hospitality" is alive and well in Fernandina!
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND her cottage to anyone from a couple looking for a romantic getaway, to a small family looking for the true beach experience of days gone bye. There is absolutely everything available within a short walk, and if you are cycling enthusiasts, you can't beat the beauty and challenges of Fort Clinch Park, a 5 minute ride away.
We are planning on coming back several times a year, and this will be the only place we will ever consider from now on. Congratulations and Thank You, Kim, for sharing your secret with us !!
