This lovely Kensington apartment is in Cornwall Gardens which is a quiet, residential area lying just off Gloucester Road with its tube station and varied selection of good neighbourhood shopping. The houses surrounding the central, private gardens are tall and elegantly fronted with palladian-style porticoed front entrances.
Enter through the smart main entrance hall and take the lift to the second floor after which there is a half flight of stairs to our flat's front door. Inside, the small hallway leads into a lovely sitting room with large windows overlooking the street and gardens. A pair of sofas flank a handsome fireplace with electric fire. There are bookshelves, a writing desk, attractive lamps and other nice touches, creating an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort. There is a digital television with free view channels and WiFi is available.
The dining area has a good sized dining table with three chairs, from this area it takes you into a well equipped kitchen. There is a combined washer/dryer, a dishwasher, cooker and fridge freezer.
Across the hallway from the sitting room is a door leading into a bathroom with cream marble tiles, a full-length bathtub with overhead power shower, wash hand basing and a toilet. Next door is the double bedroom with queen-size bed which is wonderfully light and has plenty of hanging and shelved wardrobes. From the bedroom are a few steps up lead directly into a small conservatory with table and chairs, through the patio doors leading you down onto to a good-sized private roof deck with table and seating and plenty of flowers when in season.

We stayed here for 10 days while we toured London. It was a wonderful oasis of tranquility. After busy days during London, it was a great way to decompress in Kensington.
The apartment is very spacious, elegant and comfortable. It is very quiet. We enjoyed the master bedroom with its mezzanine garden room. the bathroom had a power shower which was a luxury. The kitchen was well appointed and had modern finishes.
It is on the third floor and while there is an elevator it does not connect to this floor. You should plan on carrying your bags up the stairs.
They offer a car service to pick you up from the airport and take you back; that was a nice touch. So was the bouquet of fresh flowers on the table!
We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Cornwall Gardens. The location is absolutely perfect — exactly as billed, within easy walking distance of many fabulous local restaurants, grocery and wine stores, museums, Hyde and Holland Parks. You could easily spend a week just exploring the neighbourhood, but as we had commitments all over the city, it was great to be a 5-minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station, which is served by the Piccadilly, Circle and District lines.
You have to come expecting a typical older London block of flats – no fancy lobby with concierge, tiny elevator that we didn’t even venture into, and some stairs even if you do use the lift. But we found the flat very comfortable (and clean) and within a day felt completely at home. The owner clearly shares our preferences for lots of flexible lighting effects, comfy sofas by the (electric) fire, classical music and clocks! A chest of drawers for clothes would have been welcome, but there's a good amount of closet space and hangers. The outdoor deck off the conservatory is lovely – potted plants, a nice table and benches and views over the rooftops of London.
Our arrival was a bit chaotic, since our flight was very early and caught the people responsible for settling us in off guard, but they rose to the challenge. We used the airport transfer service offered and found it prompt and efficient. Questions emailed to the property management were answered quickly. We plan to return and would definitely recommend to others.
We had a thoroughly delightful stay at Cornwall Gardens, a sunny, attractively decorated apartment that soon felt like home. The place is furnished with everything you could need, including the wherewithal to dine in, and stayed toasty warm on chilly days. A few blocks from the Gloucester Tube station, the flat's location puts you within easy reach of most London cultural and tourist destinations, and nearby restaurants and shops offer most anything you could need. We look forward to staying here again on future trips to London.
For our first visit to London, this apartment felt as close as we could get to home. Comfortably decorated and fitted with everything we could have wanted. Lovely outlook over private gardens, spacious lounge/living area, fully equipped kitchen, located in a nice quiet area only a few minutes walk to restaurants, cafes and subway. Internet service was excellent. We will definitely seek this property out when we return to London.
This is a charming one-bedroom and spacious flat located in an upscale neighborhood with only a five-minute walk to the Gloucester Underground station. At the front of the apartment, the living room and dining area overlook a nice small park across the street. At the rear of the flat is the bedroom where a few steps lead to a sitting area looking out onto a lovely garden area which can be accessed through a side door. The kitchen has all the amenities including microwave and coffee maker. This is a very clean, well-appointed and homey flat that we will not hesitate to rent again next time we are in London.
This is a very attractive flat, well furnished and well equipped, and wonderfully located. The building is quiet and secure. And it's a super neighborhood, with close-by shops, tube, SoKen museums, and a couple of brilliant local restaurants, etc.
Problems were few. We were puzzled by the periodic shut-down of the washing machine until we realized that it was on the same (switched) circuit as a group of kitchen lights. (In USA electrical codes would not permit such a setup.) No instruction explained this odd feature. And the non-stick fry-pans in the kitchen were worse than worn out - their decomposing teflon actually is toxic, so these should have been replaced long ago. But otherwise, all was just fine.
The woman who met us was helpful and cheery; she even had put flowers on the dining table. The agent dealt very supportively with our delayed arrival (due to multiple cancelled flights) but we've yet to see how or if that reduced level of use may have impacted our final charges.
We'd gladly rent this place again (in fact, probably will). Thanks!
