Very Nice Experience

  • 4 of 5

I recently booked pine tree lodge to do a weekend getaway with some of my close girlfriends. I would consider the drive to find pine tree lodge as "well off the beaten path;" however, with regards to scenery, it is in the perfect location. There are beautiful views of the lake and the sunset from the second floor deck/balcony (there is a larger deck on the first floor with a grill, table, and chairs). In addition, the lake is a very short walk down the hill. I was nervous at first about the heat, as we booked our stay the last weekend of July and there is no air-conditioning in the lodge. This was not a problem at all, the downstairs felt like it was air-conditioned even though it was not, the living room had two large ceiling fans and the bedroom loft has a ceiling fan as well, making the temperature very comfortable. The lodge was very clean when we arrived, slightly dusty in some areas, but you can expect that with a cabin in the middle of the woods. Overall our experience was great and our deposit was refunded within three days of leaving. Cant beat that!

Okay for a rustic getaway

  • 3 of 5

We stayed two nights over Thanksgiving and had a really nice time. The cabins are all very close together, but at this time of year most people are gone. I imagine it would be bustling in the warmer months. The cabin was very rustic and hasn't been cleaned for quite some time (dust, cobwebs, etc.). The deposit was returned quickly, which I appreciate and the owners were good at communicating with us.

There are a few things I wish I had known.

The only bathroom is in the basement, so be prepared for steps. The gas fireplace pictured is in a mudroom with a loveseat in front of it, so it's not really a great place to hang out. We didn't use that room. There is a woodstove in the living room, but the flue was full and it wasn't usable. There also wasn't newspaper to start the fire and it took us a long time to locate the instructions because they weren't where we were told. The heating system had no instructions, so it would have been good to know there are multiple thermostats.

You'll need to bring your own:

kitchen towels and sponges (dishes are expected to be done and there isn't a dishwasher)

large pot, utensils, aluminum foil, etc.

wine glasses (there is one)

hair dryer

Also, the shower is a huge tub and is very hard to get into. Once you're in it's either a handheld showerhead or you must hunch down to be underneath. I'm 5 feet tall and I had to scrunch.

Owner's Response: Hi, So glad that you had a nice time at Pine Tree Lodge. We are sorry that the cabin wasn't quite up to your expectations...I assure you that the place was cleaned just prior to your arrival, however, it is a rustic cabin that has infrequent rentals at this time of year and many times within an hour after it is cleaned dust/cobwebs can start to accumulate, however, out of the hundreds of guests that have stayed there, you are only the 2nd guest to question the cleanliness of the cabin. There are sponges in the cleaning tray with the cleaning spray, etc. Not sure where all of the wine glasses went to(there were 6?) but thank you for bringing this to our attention. Yes, the bathroom is on the 1st level and the tub is a jacuzzi tub, that is why the step may be a little high? also the shower arm is adjustable?. no one has ever commented on this until now. Just a note...take a look at the review from May 27th from someone that stayed at this very cabin!!! Nothing changed except the guests!!! Thank you again for choosing to stay at Pine Tree Lodge

Relaxing Weekend in Pine Tree Lodge

  • 5 of 5

Really enjoyed our Memorial Day getaway in Pine Tree Lodge. The cabin was well maintained, cute and situated perfectly to enjoy the lake, nature and beautiful sunsets. The surroundings were very peaceful and we were provided with everything we needed to have a great stay. Recommended.

Lakeside VS Lakefront

  • 4 of 5

First let me just say I learned the difference a few words can make. I honestly thought Lakeside meant the house was beside a lake but the owner pointed out the difference. Lakefront means the house is basically right on the lake. Be that as it may we had a very nice time at this property. The home was clean and had so many accent pieces it was charming. The owners left very specific driving directions and clear housekeeping instructions. The lake was amazing, but you do have to walk around 5-7 minutes to access it. My only concern was the downstairs bedroom was very cold and I was reluctant to use the heater that was built into the wall because my daughter was sleeping there and I wasn't sure how safe it was. She slept on the couch upstairs. The town of Saratoga is around 20 minutes away and had some nice places to eat. I would recommend this property to families, couples that want to get away, as well as Ladies weekends or guys weekends.

Owner's Response: Actually non of our cabins are listed as" Lakeside" We have Lakeview, which is what is listed for Pine Tree Lodge, and is just what it says, Lake View. And we have Lakefront, meaning on the water.
