About this property

Superb a/c villa on hill between Florence & Pisa with amazing Tuscan views

Guests returning to Tuscany come back to Buralla. From their reviews they tell us of the warm welcome and library of Tuscan memories. Buralla sits on a superb hill-top location with stunning all around views. Facilities include:
- huge fully equipped kitchen (hard to find in Tuscany)
- air-conditioned bedrooms, every one with classic Tuscan views
- en-suite bathrooms
- free wifi
- satellite TV (including Sky Sport channels)
- large outdoor dining area with BBQ
- separate cottage 10 metres from the main villa with its own kitchen, sitting room and TV
- beautifully kept lawns, flowerbeds and borders
- volleyball/badminton court
- 5 a-side soccer pitch
- table tennis
- bocce court
- secluded and fenced swimming pool
- olive groves
- all surrounded by unforgettable 360 degree views of Tuscany

Florence, Pisa, beaches, vineyards, music festivals, golf courses, mountains are in easy reach. But Buralla's views and comforts are such that some guests arrive and pretty much stay put.

Buralla is unusually spacious for Tuscany - full size bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms, massive modern kitchen, extensive lush lawns - and ideal for groups of friends, families and reunions.

An option is to have the chef shop and prepare meals from her Tuscan menu which is a great time and money saver and guarantees a stunning view while you eat. She also offers cooking lessons which is great fun.

Lucca: The walled city of Lucca, only 15 minutes from Buralla, is one of the most beautiful places in Tuscany. Big enough to have everything, yet small enough to cover easily and safely on foot or by rented bicycle. For a rooftop view of Lucca, stroll around the 4km city walls. Or cut through the middle on the car-free Via Filiunga. On this street alone you will sample the very best of Tuscan life: visit beautiful San Michele and San Frediano Churches; climb the Guinigi Tower and Torre delle Ore; pause for a restorative coffee or meal in the elliptical Amfiteatro; shop at any number of beautiful outlets; drop into the residence of Giacomo Puccini, and listen to a short evening recital at San Giovanni Basilica or the Opera house. Tosca, Madame Butterfly and many other of Puccini's works are performed in the summer festival at Torre del Lago which is nearby on the Mediterranean coast.

Active life around Lucca: Look out of Buralla's windows and ask youself 'what do I want to do today?' You have 360 degree views and the choice is yours. Within easy walking distance you can visit the renaissance palace at the bottom of the estate. You could stroll through the vineyards and olive groves into the Pizzorne hills on one of the marked trails. You could drive to the beaches of Versilia and Forte dei Marmi overlooked by the spectacular Alpi Apuane which provide the world famous marble from nearby Carrara. Visit the little hill top village of Montecarlo, to taste wine at the excellent enoteca.
To the north of Lucca the Garfagnana valley presents yet another typology - dense forests, hill top towns like Barga and Castelnuovo.

Perfect for a group of families
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buralla. The size and layout is perfect for multiple families and we barely had to leave but the owner recommendations were helpful when we did!

Amazing
Reading all of the reviews certainly gave us high expectations... but they were smashed out of the park!! we had to wait another year but Simon was great letting us postpone due to the pandemic. but you know its going to be amazing and worth the wait as soon as your car drives down the long gravel driveway and you see Buralla emerging from behind the cypress trees. Lino greeted us and showed us around, we were in awe of the place. It has pure Tuscan 360 degree views but the property itself is very well kept, all rooms were very nice and the master suite is huge. We were lucky enough to get married in Lucca and had our small family celebration afterwards at Buralla with a meal prepared by Antonello which was fantastic, the attention to detail to help us set up for the wedding celebration was amazing. For the other days we used Essalunga supermarket deliveries which could be booked at very short notice with reasonable prices. We would love to return to Buralla one day, its the perfect place for a large family holiday. Immaculate property, treasured grounds, unbeatable views, amazing location... somebody take me back...

AMAZING! Tuscan Gem
This villa is simply spectacular. A group of 20 (12 adults, 8 children) we stayed for the last week in May. The villa accommodated us all with ease. The standard of accommodation is second to none and, in my experience, very rare for a Tuscan property of this size. The grounds of the villa are superb. Lovely swimming pool, alfresco dining and bbq area, bocce (Italian boules) pitch, table tennis etc. The kids were continually entertained and adults all had a wonderful relaxing holiday. The views across the valley overlooking Lucca are truly epic. Lovely private setting within acres of olive groves. You will need a car if you plan to use the villa as a base for exploring this part of Tuscany, but I would also recommend maximising time at the villa and enjoy all it has to offer. Lucca is a beautiful town that has much to see and is a short drive away. Communication and check-in arrangements are easy. We were delayed due to a late flight but there were no problems being met at the villa. The owner is very helpful and the gardener Lino is a legend. I would recommend asking for a shop of basic supplies to be done for when you arrive. You absolutely must use the chef services at least once. We used twice in the week and would have happily done so every night. Delicious, authentic Tuscan cuisine and totally hassle free. Our stay here has given the whole family unforgettable memories. Everybody was lost for words about how good this place is. You should not hesitate to book this villa.

WOW...AMAZING!!!
It’s impossible to put into words and do this holiday justice. We were a group of 21 having a reunion after many years of not seeing one another. 5 famalies from UK,US,Netherlands & Ireland. Various ages 3 upwards ...so lots of needs to accommodate and Villa Burralla did this in style and some more!!! Lino the Gardner was soooo helpfull as was SIMON the owner. Antonella the chef organised for her daughter to cook on our penultimate evening..the food was outstanding. The accommodation was very clean and plenty of room for everyone. The pool overlooking the hills just stunning. Outside eating area beautiful. The fact that I am reviewing this on a busy 1st day back at work sums it up. Can not wait to go back!! Thank you BURALLA for some amazing memories!!

Tranquil location with stunning views
First class location with great facilities. We had a local chef cook for 3 nights for the 15 of us - well worth it. The place itself was very well maintained and extra features like the outside barbeque area, boules pitch, tables tennis, and of course swimming pool were well utilized. Area was a bit more hilly than originally thought, but made for better views. Lunch in Lucca was an easy 20 min drive, and Florence just over an hour. Ultimately a great time was had by everyone (15 adults and 4 kids). thanks

That little photo is me playing olive harvest supervisor during the All Saints school holiday at the beginning of November. We issue nets and ladders to the kids - who spend many happy hours up the olive trees - while we concentrate on the important things: taking in the views, lazy lunching, nattering away, poking the coals on the BBQ, strolling to a local vineyard. Very restorative.

Why they chose this property

We saw a ruin on a hill while looking for a holiday home away from London's bustle. It was much too big for us, but the views led us to take the plunge, and after 15 years of renting, we are happy to have had so many happy visitors saying they would have done the same!

What makes this property unique

Friends and family groups and reunions. The setting is exceptional but what sets Buralla apart is being able to comfortably cater for every generation's needs and for no-one to feel hard done by. For example the downstairs suite, and level floors and accesses are great for the less mobile; on the other hand, there's a playroom next to the huge kitchen so parents can keep an eye on little ones if necessary while entertaining around the bar.
