Guestbook comments from the owner

Our second visit to your Homestead Cabin and Yellowstone was just as memorable as the first. It felt like yesterday being here, whereas it's been 2 years ago already! The quiet, cozy cabin and the beautiful surroundings felt like an extension of the national park. Thanks again for your hospitality and the use of the incredible cabin. If we ever make it a third time, we definitely know where to find you!

We stayed here so we could go to nearby Chico Hot Spring, but we liked the cabin so well that we decided to forego going to Chico where the crowd was dense on Easter weekend. The cabin had everything we wanted, except maybe a TV/DVD. The host was great.

True Cfratsmanship and don't rush out to Yellowstone

  • 5 of 5

My wife and myself stayed with Sarah 2 very short nights in October. We had a guided fishing tour on the Madison River and a guided your of Yellowstone. While Ennis was a very nice little town in the Madison Valley and Yellowstone was something to see, it is our first national park and all; but there is something very special about The Paradise Valley. The people, the views, the gravel roads and not to mention the history, this area has a very magical pull to our hearts. And staying at Sarah's truly amazing cabin didn't hurt none. I was blown away by the attention to detail, and the beauty of the chinking and woodworking; even down to the horseshoe handles on the ladder leading to the loft, truly awesome. So your next trip to Montana, take your time in Emigrant and Chico, take a drive out Colin Rd & Chico Cemetery Rd at sundown, fish the Yellowstone and go horseback riding; don't rush to Yellowstone as fast as everyone does, you'll miss a very special place.

My family of four(kids 11 and 8 years old) stayed in the Schoolhouse for three nights and absolutely loved our time there. The cabin was unbelievable and restored with class and detail! We spent the mornings in the Hot Springs and the evenings fishing and delicious local eating. Sarah was an unbelievable host with great knowledge of the area and extremely welcoming. We loved listening to her stories and she had great advice on things to do around Chico. Thanks so much for the great getaway!

My fiancé and I stayed in the homestead cabin and it by far has been one of my favorites! It was the perfect home away from home. Everything thing was perfect and Sarah the owner made us feel right at home. We can't wait to go back!

The Schoolhouse - The best place we've ever stayed

  • 5 of 5

The Homestead Cabin was booked so my girlfriend and I stayed at the Schoolhouse for 3 nights. We've stayed in a lot of cottages, cabins, and hotels in the US and across Europe, and the Schoolhouse turned out to be the best place we have ever stayed in, absolutely, hands down. Sarah has beautifully restored the building and it's done to the highest specification, down to the last detail. The decorations, linens, rugs and furniture were all very tasteful and added to the relaxing atmosphere. The sinks and other fittings were incredibly nice and unique (we especially liked the bathroom sink and the lights over the kitchen), and the bed was huge and so comfortable. The whole cabin was so clean and inviting and cosy; the perfect romantic respite from a day's long hike or the hustle and bustle of Yellowstone. We had a great time stargazing from the porch, with the sound of the creek running close by. Although there are other cabins/houses nearby, it still felt very secluded and private, which was just perfect for our trip. Sarah was a brilliant host; she was helpful, kind and friendly - she made us feel so welcome. We honestly didn't want to leave, and would come back in a heartbeat.

Truly sublime.

  • 5 of 5

I never imagined anything could distract my three tween/teen kids from their "devices" - but after 5 unplugged days in this beautiful cabin they did not want to return home. There is internet and cell service... but, my kids were so captivated by the location they completely forgot all about their phones and iPads! They were actually reading these things called "books"! The cabin was cozy, but there was plenty of room for our family of five. The location was convenient while still being secluded. Sarah is kind, helpful, funny, welcoming, and inspirational. I sincerely hope we are able to return, but if not, we have memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Sarah!
