In the Walls & Wooden Beams of XVth Century Abbey – Le Marais

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,023 sq ft
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 4 nights

About the property

Apartment, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

Not only the location is perfect but also this apartment is unique. The building was built on the walls of an ancient XVI century Abbey. The apartment is a family apt. It is not a modern design but is very convenient. The stone walls and the large ceiling wooden beams bring an incredible charm to this 100m2 duplex. Even the entrance and stairs of the building are made out the ancient stones.

• The entrance opens on the large living room & dining area. It is an open space with 2 large windows that contains a table that sits 6 as well as a large lounge area.

• A wooden stair gets up to the bedroom level. The master bedroom is located on the back of the building. It is very quiet. It offers a queen-size bed and large closets.

• The 2 other bedrooms are not large but could sleep 2 guests each. One has 2 single beds with one sliding under the other. The second has bunks beds. They fit very well for kids or teenagers. Although 2 adults could stay in each bedrooms (check photos), it would be tight. This is why we limit the number of guests to 5.

• On upper level the bathroom next to the master bedroom offers a bathtub with shower and toilets.

• On the lower level the kitchen is located as well as another bathroom offers shower and toilets.

As a summary, we would say that this large apartment is perfect for a large family. It is in a perfect location and convenient for fitting a large party.

Located in a calm and safe street, the apartment is 1 mn walking distance from the Museum of Modern Art (Beaubourg), it is surrounded with middle age dated narrow streets full of restaurants and shops. The apt is located on the 1st floor (European standard) i.e. 2nd floor (US Standard), no elevator. It is located between 3 subway stations Etienne Marcel, Chatelet and Rambuteau which makes it extra convenient.

You will find a mix of cultural attractions, hype bars and night life, fancy clothes stores and traditional architecture. The “Seine” is 3 mn walking distance. In summer, enjoy the “Paris plage” attraction when the Seine banks are transformed in sand beaches and cultural attractions (music, sports , events …).

Located in the center of Paris, you will be at 10 mn of most of the interesting spots, using at will the following subway stations: Chatelet, Hotel de Ville, Les Halles.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The apartment was perfect for our family. We have two parents and two grown children. The young people appreciated each having their own room. The apartment was easily accessible and everything worked. The kitchen was great. The area was perfect for us. Place is not fancy which made us like it even better. It was exactly as advertised if not better. We felt right at home. It was a great bargain and a lovely experience. I would definitely stay there again.

Thanks for being easy to deal with.

Location Can't Be Beat

  • 4 of 5

The location of this apartment was absolutely fantastic! Everything in Paris seems to be within walking distance if you like to walk, but this apartment was particularly well situated and close to the Metro for those who don't like to walk as far.

The property manager was also wonderful to work with, kind, and very responsive to some challenges we had.

My advice on this apartment is to only book if you are looking for location and charm above all else. We are a well-traveled family, up for most adventures, so this apartment was perfect for us; however, if we were less adventurous it may have been a bit uncomfortable. The rooms were a bit small for three tall teenage kids, and the bathroom downstairs presented some unique challenges. The washer was not usable and the dryer is non-existent, but there are plenty of laundry facilities close by to either have your clothes laundered, or to do it yourself (if you are traveling for an extended time through France/Europe, as we were). The kitchen wasn't really well set-up for self-catering, but good enough for morning pastries and coffee, plus there are restaurants so close by that you don't really need to self-cater.

Overall, I recommend this rental for those who seek adventure, not amenities.

the location was good.

  • 2 of 5

We found the apartment run down. The furniture left a lot to be desired. . Not as clean as we would like. The single bed was too small. Did not like the bunk beds. . The washer and . dryer and refrigerator were good. . There were enough towels for our family of 5.

Charm galore, great location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment indeed has great character and a great location! It was spacious and worked well for us (except for a few rather tired and broken down furnishings). We chose it in part based on two full bathrooms but found that it really functions more like a bath and a half as the second shower is TINY and we found impractical for anyone but a small child (a size 6 couldn't even use it). The rental process was smooth. The location was so convenient with easy access to shopping and restaurants 7 days a week plus easy walking distance to many popular destinations. Although there are two different metro lines just a few minutes away, we walked most of the time. We found the street to be very quiet during the day and Sunday and Monday evenings but the closer to the weekend the more that was happening. The temperatures were unseasonably cool during our visit which allowed us to close windows at night. I can imagine it would be quite loud as some have reported if you needed to keep the windows open all night for ventilation. Overall it was a nice experience.

Perfect Location

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is very unique and on a nice small quiet street so there is no traffic noise, but it is a block away from many restaurants, bakeries and a metro station and several blocks from the Centre Pompidou – it is in a great location, a perfect place to go out to see sites but be able to stop back for a rest before heading for dinner. Was perfect for our family.

Fantastic location and comfortable accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

My family of five loved our time in Paris at this apartment. It’s right in the center of the action, so some street noise and music at night is to be expected. The apartment had everything we needed to have a few meals at home and fantastic boulangerie, restaurants, cafes, crepes, supermarket all within a few moments from the front door. We walked everywhere from this central spot. The Pompidou centre is literally around the corner. The apartment is charming, clean and well appointed. Communication with the owner and manager was pretty easy, though a rental agreement is required in Paris which is a little fiddly. Thank you for a great stay! I’d definitely stay here again.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in Paris (of course!) and the Quincampoix apartment was a delightful part of that. We found it clean, well-appointed, large enough for us (four adults), charmingly decorated downstairs and superbly located, a stone throw from Beaubourg. Good memories all-around !
