While the location of the home is definitely in a desirable spot, there were some less than desirable things going on inside the home. When we arrived there were beach chairs & accessories laying in a pile in the driveway. Upon entering the home, we immediately noticed one of the bi-folding doors to the laundry room was completely missing. Some of the kitchen cabinet doors were hanging off hinges to the point that I was concerned they might break off when opening them. While there were tons of kitchen items, they were strewn throughout different cabinets which left us searching each cabinet to piece together what we needed - most of which had to be re-washed because it was filthy. I also ended up using my beach towels to shower due to the hair I discovered embedded in the towels that were provided. We only used the master bedroom during our stay & the bed just wasn't comfortable for us - we prefer something a bit softer.

However, I would like to mention that patio was where we spent most of our time, reading, eating & relaxing - which we LOVED. We enjoyed the sounds of the ocean but there really wasn't much of a view since it's across the street from the beach & the trees seem to invade the space between the patio & the beach.

OH! The time zone here is EST NOT CST - our phones tricked us so beware!

I believe this property could be REALLY spectacular with some love & care but unfortunately, we won't be visiting again.

Owner's Response: '''We strive to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment for our guest. The work order for the broken laundry door and tightening of the cabinet door has been completed. All guest are provided with the concierge cleaning number during their stay. We have no report of the guest requesting clean towels or a service call. Efforts to improve the gulf view are underway. There are miles of beautiful sandy white beaches to enjoy a few feet from the home.

Great Location, Short Walk to Beach

  • 4 of 5

This is a nice, affordable, old-Florida beach house in a great location. It is only about a half-mile from Indian Pass Raw Bar - one of our favorite restaurants in the area, and about 100 yards from the beach. However, please note that unless you know one of the neighbors in front of this house and they will let you use their access, you will need to walk down to the end of the street and use the public beach access road to get to the beach. No big deal, but something to keep in mind if you are taking a lot of stuff to the beach or have elderly parents. Internet access is great in the house - cell phone coverage somewhat spotty. The house and furnishings could stand a refresh, but they are clean and tidy. Kitchen is well stocked. We would definitely rent again.

Very enjoyable.

  • 4 of 5

We've been returning to Money Bayou for a few years now. My wife and I enjoy the place very much. It is quiet, the people are friendly and we are close to the beach. The house has all the conveniences we need. We loved our stay again this year.

Old School Beach House

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time staying for two months in this home. We chose to be here in December and January to avoid the high traffic vacation season and to spend Christmas and New Years on the beach. It was a wonderful choice of location and season, in my opinion.

All of the neighbors were very friendly and many of them had dogs that enjoyed playing with our dogs. I'm not sure we've stayed anywhere that had nicer people than PSJ!!

The house is a charming old school beach house with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. No, it is not fancy new construction like some of the homes around it. But, it is clean, nicely decorated, adequately furnished, and in a perfect location.

This house is NOT beachfront but you can see and hear the beach and Gulf from the back porch. There is one vacant lot between the house and beach (that really needs the trees cut down).

As you can see in the pictures, this is a stilt home. That means that there are quite a few stairs with no elevator or lift. That is was no issue for us but, it may be for some.

Relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful beach house. The property was perfect for my husband and I, along with our fathers and dogs. Loved the spacious living room and open kitchen with giant island! Perfect for cooking meals together! Screened in porch is awesome. Nothing like hearing the waves all night. Note: this property is NOT beachfront. You must take short 5 minute walk to public access, but you can see ocean from porch. The property is an older property than those around it but is very charming. That said it does have a few maintenance issues but nothing that would keep us from via staying at this property again . Another cautionary note, a black bear did visit our trash can during night so be careful not to leave any fishing bait or coolers under house! Loved the quietness of the beach in October and the property is close to Port St. Joe for shopping and restaurants.
