Beautiful lake front cottage offers sand beach on clear lake with expansive deck for lots of outside entertaining. Deck is canopied by a huge, century oak tree and rain tree for a shady oasis. Enjoy the shady deck, stroll on the private dock or feed the ducks and lake birds. Relax in the glider at the end of the dock while you view the sunset. If you're a sunbather, the white sand beach will beacon you to sit in the lounge chairs and enjoy the lap of the lake's waves. The clear water is perfect for swimming, fishing, boating, waterskiing or jet skiing.

My brother, Van Akin and I grew up on Lake Weir and we raised our children in this lake house. It was owned by my father and now myself, my husband, David Bachus and my brother own the property. We have spent time updating our home and keeping it warm and friendly. We are committed to raising our grandchildren here and want others to enjoy it when we can't.
The Owner purchased this house in 1980
This house has been in our family for many years and it's a special place on a beautiful lake.
As our second home, you will enjoy all the benefits of having everything you need in the house from spices and many condiments in the kitchen to beach chairs, toys and umbrella on the beach, along with two kayaks for exploring. A fire pit on the white sand beach is perfect for the sunsets and cool evenings.
Our stay was more than expected! The very comfortable home (With everything included...right down to spices for cooking!), the beautiful white sand beach, the deck leading out to the pier, the wildlife (Ducks were regular visitors, and Sand Hill cranes also stopped by), the peace and quiet. Suzanne made us feel right at home. I would recommend this lake home to everyone. Looking foward to next years stay!
My only hesitation about reviewing this home on Lake Weir as Excellent is I don’t want it booked when we want to go back.
Our week on the lake couldn't have been better. Granted much of that is because our granddaughter lives in the area and visited daily for her swim in the blow up pool we purchased and set up on the deck but it was still a very comfortable, nice home to rent. Without hesitation we would go back.
From the road the homes look very close together but back on the deck it is very private.
The sailboat pictured is not included for use but we brought our own Kayaks and paddle boards and enjoyed the lake as well. The exposure of the home and the giant tree canopy keep the deck shaded all day. We were comfortable even though the temperatures were 90+ all week.
Beds are always a concern for us as we have older backs but the beds were very comfortable. Bedrooms and bathroom were spotless. Internet, phone reception, and TV worked perfectly.
I’m sure Suzanne would have fixed any problem we ran into during our stay but there are no problems with this rental.
We were very comfortable in this peaceful cottage for a week in April. While it was hot everywhere else, it was nice and cool on the deck with a lovely lake breeze. The deck is fantastic! The cottage was exceptionally well-equipped with everything you could need for a nice stay (even skewers for grilling!). It was very clean and is well-maintained. The owners are very responsive to questions which is reassuring when renting from far away. Ocala and the Villages are nearby and Gator Joe's (5-minute walk) is great for a cold beer and a great burger. There are ducks that come to visit and we also had a sandhill crane stop by. I would definitely stay at this lovely property again.
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Lake House. We had everything anyone could want or need. BBQ, Oven, Stove, Microwave, Dishwasher, Coffee Pot, Laundry facilities. 2 nice bedrooms and other sleeping areas. A fantastic deck with a great hammock. A white sandy beach and firepit. We had dinner on the deck almost every night and enjoyed the view. We took kayaks out on the lake a few times and walked to dinner at Gator Joes. And we couldn't ask for nicer people to rent from. Only wish that we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this property.
My husband & I stayed at the lake house the month of January 2012. I agree with all that has been said about the house. It's well stocked, clean, well maintained and such a beautiful setting. Wonderful sunsets are visible from inside the house. So peaceful, it's a great place to unwind. We love to hike and found some excellent hiking trails in the state parks nearby. There are also some premier bicycling trails within a reasonable driving distance. It was such fun to explore the area and find the local flea markets and popular restaurants. We both have fond memories of this place and often reminisce about our stay here. A big thumbs up to Suzanne and her family for keeping this place so well preserved, it's truly a treasure.
We stayed a week at the lake house in December. The house was very clean and offered everything that we could need. The weather was lovely and we BBQed on the back deck. The sandy beach and great oak trees draped with moss could not have been more picturesque. Near by we went horseback riding in Ocala and fishing although we didn't catch anything from shore. A short walk a couple of houses down is a bar and grill with a nice view of the sunsets. Suzanne checked in to make sure that everything was fine. I wish we could have stayed another week!
