About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

This 1850's French Creole cottage has been completely restored and offers you all of the comforts and privacy of home. It is located only one block from downtown historic Natchitoches as well as the Natchitoches Events Center and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.

The home has original double French doors and windows on the galley front porch, where you may relax in a swing or a plantation rocking chair. One half of the home features a cozy living room with fireplace, a dining room, and a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances. The other half of the house comprises a bedroom with queen size bed and bath, a second bedroom with king size bed and bath and an adjoining sitting room/library. The ceilings are high and there are ceiling fans in every room. Luxury mattresses and linens as well as down duvets are provided. Off street parking behind home.

Enjoy the covered back patio with comfortable furniture. Bring your own wine and relax!

Natchitoches is the oldest permanent settlement in the Louisiana Purchase territory (1714) four years older than New Orleans in fact. There are car tours to several antebellum homes down the River Road, as well as horse and buggy tours of the Landmark Historic District. There is easy access to Cane River Lake as well as Red River. Natchitoches is known for its festivals and there are many to choose from. Live entertainment is provided at several of the downtown restaurants and bars, and in the summer the Green Market is held every Saturday on the riverbank.

About Carrie Lou & Pat

This property has been in my family for about 50 years. One of my close friends really wanted to open a bed and breakfast and she approached me about buying into my property and doing a guest house together. We have worked very hard to make this home something to be proud of and comfortable for people to enjoy and use. We have had many comments in our journal and guests truly seem to appreciate our efforts. This Cottage is really a home away from home! Natchitoches is a lovely place to visit and explore.

Why Carrie Lou & Pat chose Natchitoches

Natchitoches has so much to offer to visitors and it's surprising how many people have moved here after one visit. There is also a very active artist community and there's certainly plenty of material to foster creativity. Northwestern State University has a wonderful music department and throughout the year has many concerts. The drama department also features plays on a pretty regular basis. Many people come here to research their genealogy either at the college library or the Old Courthouse where many records are kept.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is unique because it is so close to locations of interest within the city. It is located one block behind Kaffie Frederick General Mercantile, the oldest store in the state of Louisiana. You won't want to miss a visit! The Natchitoches Events Center is about a block away. The Parish Courthouse is about two blocks away and the downtown area and restaurants are all within short walking distance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you VERY much for everything! We had a wonderful time--very relaxing and special. Your cottage is charming. Please call when you have time--we'd like to make reservations for next December.

Wonderful Getaway!

We stayed here Labor Day Weekend & enjoyed every minute of it. Nice patio in the back to relax on & enjoy the scenery. It's close enough to Front Street that we could walk to everything we needed. We will definitely come back!

Awesome Cottage in Walking Distance to Front Street!

  • 5 of 5

Great little 2 bed/2 bath cottage one block from Front Street. We came for our High School's 20th reunion and it was the perfect location. We loved the front porch and sat there each morning enjoying our cup of coffee. If you're expecting modern furnishings, this isn't the cottage for you. The decor was cute and rustic, perfect for a cottage. We didn't use the kitchen with the exception of making coffee and storing items in the fridge, but they had everything you would need to fix meals. Beds were comfortable and we all slept nice and soundly each night. We never heard any loud noises at night and the area is pretty quiet. This cottage is in the perfect location and when I'm back for my 25th, we'll be making another reservation!

The cottage was just perfect for our mature girls' spring fling!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was clean and cozy in the heart of the historic district. The front porch was perfect for relaxing in the spring weather. We were able to walk to the area shops and restaurants. The entire town was very friendly. We also enjoyed the banana nut bread from Pat and Lou. Would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and family visiting Natchitoches.
