Quietly nestled on 1 acre of oceanfront property, our cozy island-style house offers spectacular views of Ten Bay Beach which Frommers Guide 2010 calls 'one of the best beaches in The Bahamas, with sparkling turquoise water and a wide expanse of soft white sand.' Calm, shallow waters await swimmers of any skill level and those who like to fish and snorkel.

PRESS: 'A dream come true, Amori House is a beautiful one bedroom cottage right on the stunning quiet Ten Bay Beach.
This is a real Bahamian experience: things go slow and days are spent in the hammock, at the beach or exploring the island’s bays…Petite but perfect, this brand new home comes fully equipped and has the most beautiful sunset views over the Caribbean sea to boot.
The attention to detail and pretty blue and white décor make the place feel like a home from home, while the big flat screen TV came in handy for the long quiet nights… The best part is the wooden deck, the perfect place to enjoy a sunset drink, and the beach beyond....'

First off, our stay was in December 2014 - and sorry did not review sooner. Amori House was our first VRBO experience and first stay in Eleuthera - and both were excellent introductions. Amori house was immaculately clean and ideally located. Basically you had your own private beach. You were disappointed (lol) when you had to share it with a handful of day visitors - seriously we never saw more than 5 total people on the beach.
As a family of three (parents and teenage son) the cottage worked very well. We (the parents) actually slept on the pull out sofa - it was by far the most comfortable sofa bed we have ever experienced. The living area is open and large with a beautiful kitchen and all the needed amenities (though a BBQ grill would have been nice .) But the real attraction here is the location and beach. The house is quite secluded with a fun drive in off the main road - on what we believed was the best beach (Ten Bay) on the entire island! Not being prejudiced by the location - the beach was ideal. Great swimming, warm calm waters and actually excellent snorkeling around the northern edge. Simply paradise! We visited more than a dozen other beaches on the island - all unique and beautiful with their own attractions but in the end believed ours was the overall best.
Eleuthera is amazing. We went basically everywhere - beaches, glass window bridge, Governors Harbor, Ocean and Bay side, even experienced Junkanoo in Gregory Town!
Great dinner at Tippy's and great lunch in Rock Sound but the Cinnamon Rolls and other items at Island Farms bakery were the best.
A quick shout out to Stanton Cooper and his rental car empire - great guy and though we had initial doubts about our car- we had no problems and grew to trust our white Cherokee chariot to take us anywhere. The rental car made the trip and allowed us explore.
A trip down to Lighthouse Beach and exploring around is definitely worth the time (though it is a long trip) - just try and avoid arriving when the Cruise Ship invades the south end. Not too bad as most stay confined in a little "Cruise Ship Compound" but a dozen or so did venture out - and on Eleuthera that is a crowd (LOL).
Bottom line, we fell in love with Eleuthera and cannot wait to get back. Amori house was perfect and we would definitely stay here again. We loved the remote and unspoiled nature of Eleuthera and the friendly adventurous - off the beaten path nature of the island. Highly Recommend!
When travelers return to the same house, on the same beach, on the same island, when so many other choices are available, it should mean something unique. We returned to Amori House on Ten Bay a year or so after our first trip there....(October 2013) It was as incredible, beautiful and peaceful as the first time we were there and still nobody else on the large caribbean beach but us. Amori will forever be a most special place to me.
We just have left the Amori House after a 10 night stay. Property is perfect. Beach is amazing. Everyone we encountered in Eleuthera were warm and inviting. Would definitely recommend and will be back (sooner than later!)
The Amori House was exactly what we were looking for! Secluded, quaint and stocked with the items we needed to enjoy the beaches of the Bahamas. We wanted our own little slice of heaven without the chaos of a big hotel and that's exactly what we got. The house is situated on a public beach, but we never felt like we had to compete for space because most beach-goers respected that the area in front of the house was ours to claim. Plus it was nice to visit with the locals and tourists, and the beach never had more than 15 people on it at a time. As mentioned, the house rental came with everything you would need to enjoy the beach (kayak, floating chairs with cup holders, snorkel gear, coolers, and more). It also had an outdoor hose to clean the sand off after hanging on the beach all day, which is great, as no one like walking on sand after a nice shower. As for the inside for the house…it was very well kept and we really didn’t need to buy any items for cleaning or cooking. All the fans worked and the air conditioning in two different rooms was clutch. Now don’t judge, but having a working TV with dish signal, as well as Wi-Fi was important for me (although it did go in out a bit with bad weather), as it was Fantasy Football playoffs and even though I was on my honeymoon I had to at least set my lineup and watch a game, or two, or three, or four. In terms of activities, we spent about half our days hanging at the beach in front of the house and cooking our own meals, including a Thanksgiving dinner. The rest of the time we spent exploring the island. Our favorite beaches were Ten Bay, which is where the house is located, and Lovers Beach, which is about an hour drive north from the house and located on the Atlantic side, meaning big waves! The Friday night fish fry was fun, but make sure you go after 9:30pm or you’ll be ready to leave right when things are just getting going. And when they say fish fry, they mean a whole fish is fried, not the more traditional fish and chips us Americans are used to, although it was still good. They also have chicken cooked on the BBQ, which was very tasty. If you’re looking for a nice sit-down dinner, you have to hit up 1648 Bar & Grill. We went nuts and ordered five apps and two entrees. Let’s just say we had leftovers, but man was it good! The best for last was our boating trip with Captain Bubba and his wife Robin at Fishbone Tours. They were nothing short of amazing! We dove for conch and cleaned/cooked them, along wit
My husband and I spent a blissful week in the picture-perfect Amori cottage right smack on Ten Bay Beach in February. We came in from Miami, so flew into Northern Eleuthera (the "big" airport) where our rental car was waiting for us and drove the length of the island (2/3 actually) to arrive in late afternoon. If we were to fly from Boston we might do what my local experts suggest: fly to Nassau, kick back, eat and shop organic vegetables at the guy who started Island Farm (more on that in a minute) and puddle jump on the small airlines (Pineapple, Silver) to Governor's Harbor Airport. But as first timers to Eleuthera, we loved driving down the island.
We followed Ama and Al's superb directions to the home of Ann Bethel, who manages the property with her husband Clyde. They are AMAZING, helpful, kind and hooked-in hosts.. know every inch of the island, and how to get the cable-guy there (there was a lot of wind for a few days so cable fritzed out-- right in the middle of the super bowl game-- oh well!) plus they run Island Farm which has incredible vegetables, fruits, jams, and chutneys and fresh bread two mornings a week. Two miles door to door from Amori. Primo location, as repeat visitors to Eleuthera will appreciate. Ann said we might want to get in line early for the Tuesday bread, and she was right. We did, and when the gates opened at 9:00 there was a scrum of folks diving for the still warm sweet rolls, and gorgeous multi-grain loaves.
More about why Amori is the perfect location. Ten Bay Beach. Wow. So gorgeous and maybe 50 feet from the door. Perfect for strolling, beachcombing, swimming, fishing if that's your thing, kayaking. Morning, noon, evening, night.. All right there, all the time. We had windy whipped up waves and flat clear as glass and other weathers in between during our week. The water temperature was divine and the views were never anything but spectacular. There is a discreet public access to Ten Bay Beach near the cottage, so during the day there were other folks enjoying the lovely beach, but never too many. Just nice. When we met people and showed them OUR cottage, they were-- without fail-- green with envy. Yes, it's perfect! Inside, Amori is clean, cool, light, airy, well-appointed for the modern visitor. Big TV, super-comfy bed, fans, coffee-maker, wi-fi, etc. Everything is new and functional.. incredibly comfortable quarters in every way! Amori is the best. A gem.
This is the perfect place to stay if you need to get away from it all. The property is exactly like you see in the photos, perhaps even better. I stayed for two weeks in February/March 2015. One week with my mom and one alone. My mom slept on the sofa bed in the living room and swears the bed was as comfortable as mine in the master bedroom. The views are simply magical and we loved our sunset ritual of "catch and release" sand dollars and starfish. This was the most relaxing vacation I've had in years. My mom is taking her husband back this year for his 60th birthday as she couldn't help but want to share this magical experience. We will all be returning. LOVED IT!
