About the property

2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Log Cabin, 6 plus acres, a cascading waterfall, a clear pond, a quiet walk, tall trees, fresh air, a simple moment in time, all wrapped up in the mountain tops of the NC High Country. The Cabins of Sugar Grove invite you to plan your escape. Our cabin is 2BR/2Bath along with spacious loft that has sleeper sofas. We've thought of everything.... just pack your bag. Bring your favorite book or borrow one of ours. Take a walk, take a deep breath, take a minute to remember or to forget...... Spend twilight among the trees, spend an evening under the stars & around a campfire or curl up on a sofa with a blanket and enjoy a movie from our collection. Only don't miss this moment.

Comments from Our Guests: 'We loved the cabin. It definitely exceeded our expectations.'

'Late at night, I surfed the Internet to look for 'cabins in Boone'. I stumbled upon the web site for Treehouse. This was my dream -- we were hopeful that it would live up to the pictures on the web site......it's even better.'

'The Treehouse Cabin is well worth the trip from New Hampshire.'

“This house is beautiful! We loved the peace and privacy. Jane went “ice skating” on the pond and took an adventure through the woods. Charm and warmth made this house feel like home. Thanks for the stay”

“This was our third trip back to the Treehouse. The first was when Shawn proposed to me in October 2000. This was a special trip back for us because our 2 year old son Evan is with us and another on the way. He loved the porch swing, throwing rocks in the waterfall, playing with all the leaves, roasting marshmallows, looking for bears in the cabin with the flashlight. We look forward to returning many times. Thanks again for the beautiful place to stay.”

“It’s Friday morning. I’m sitting here on the porch and it’s 15 degrees. That’s hard to believe when you are from Florida. We came here in search of snow and were fortunate enough to have flurries on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We also came in search of family time......time together without the distractions of life. We spent our days in the snow, exploring the pond and waterfall, sliding down the snow banks, and throwing snowballs. We spent our nights playing board games and charades in front of the fire. The cabin was the perfect backdrop for our family adventure.”

About Rebecca Bramble

David and I are Raleigh natives that enjoy retreating to the cabins as much as our guests. We are constantly striving to make the cabin more comfortable for family gatherings, fully equipped to entertain friends, and romantic enough for a getaway for the two of us. We are confident that you will fall in love with the property as much as we have!

Rebecca Bramble purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Rebecca Bramble chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

While searching for the perfect cabin for us, I had decided that the Banner Elk area was the setting that I most enjoyed. Close to shopping and dining, but not over done or over-priced like so many nice mountain communities. The realtor showed many a cabin and there was a cabin that I had truly liked, but just did not fill the desire that I had created in my mind’s eye.

There was a local “For Sale by Owner” opportunity, but I did not take it seriously because the owner had two cabins and wanted to sell them together. I had been settled on one cabin and wanted to buy outright and not take on a mortgage. The gentleman agreed to meet in Sugar Grove at the post office and lead us to his cabins for sale. The first thing that struck me was the drive up the back side of Valle Mountain was just beautiful. This is starting out on a nice tone, I thought to myself.

We pulled up the driveway and in front of the Treehouse Cabin. Nice setting, clean property, pretty cabin and then I opened the door. The symphony of falling water that welcomed me this early spring day was so overwhelming to me. My immediate thought was I must own this property and I had not even looked inside one of the cabins.

The cabins were in excellent condition and, although in need of a redecorating, provided a strong foundation on which to build. After touring Treehouse, we walked to the waterfall, along the stream, and down to the pond. The topography and natural rolling of the property was food for the soul.

On to the Bearclaw Cabin, where I was shocked to find that it had its own source of natural charm. The separate, gorgeous stream that can be seen from Bearclaw’s back deck provided its own surround sound. You can hear the stream from Bearclaw’s deck 365 days of the year. It is a healthy, vibrant courier of natural mountain water. Little did I know at the time that particular stream would be the source of our favorite family picnic spot, swimming for the kids, as well as fishing.

What makes this cabin unique

The Treehouse Cabin lives up to its name. It is a dwelling amongst nature. Surrounded by a waterfall, stream, and pond sitting on the back deck or in the hot tub leaves you with a sense of pure serenity. We enjoy the opportunity to explore the property, the water, and relax amidst the trees. Inside, the decor is rustic and romantic with the modern conveniences that make it an easy retreat on the eyes and the senses.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary and loved it! The large creek running right next to the cabin was so soothing, impressive waterfall on property a short walk away, hot tub next to the water, so awesome. The inside is quite nice with attention to detail down to nice soaps and linens, well supplied kitchen. We will be back!

Beautiful remote getaway

  • 5 of 5

Cabin and grounds are beautiful. Nice layout and great outdoors areas for hanging out. We went to getaway for our wedding anniversary, we work a lot so wanted somewhere to just relax and that is what we found here. They have everything you need to cook with, bathrooms have plenty of towels and washcloths, bedrooms have all your linen, washer and dryer, and nice hot tub. We sleep in the downstairs bedroom tje 1st night but moved to the 2nd upstairs for the rest of the stay just because the bed sleep better to us. 16 mins to store, 20 mins to dollar general, 30 mins from Boone and Grandfather mountain. We would definitely go back if ever visting that area again.

Relaxing, picturesque location ...

  • 4 of 5

We chose this property for a "last minute" mid-week trip to the mountains while the kids were on fall break. The drive up was easy & the sights were great. The location is somewhat remote, but not too far off from town. Here's our thoughts ...

- The home was reasonably well decorated - maybe a little dated & worn. No weird smells or anything.

- The beds slept well; linens were clean, except for maybe the decorative comforters.

- We'd suggest that the owners convert to "white" hotel-grade linens, bed spreads, & bath towels. Having other-than makes one question the effectiveness of the wash cycle.

- Kid friendly ... ours are 16, 8, & 6. They absolutely loved it & it was therapeutic for our oldest who has autism.

- The location was very quiet & peaceful

- The fire pit was perfect - plenty of wood in & around the property too

- We met the cleaning folks & they were really nice people; they did a great job & the house was reasonably well kept

- We had a visit by bears or raccoons one night, so we had to joy of picking up trash that was strewn about

- Some things were broken or not working inside the property (i.e. bi-fold closet doors, garbage disposal, Jacuzzi supply latch, Jacuzzi light, etc.) none of which were a significant problem - but, with all the "security deposit" warnings, we were afraid we'd get blamed the entire time.

- The kids found empty video game boxes; again not a significant problem - but, we were afraid we'd get blamed.

- Short walk up to the waterfall was nice; although it was barely flowing on our visit - we understood why. Same goes for the stream just next to the property. Continuing up the trail past the waterfall was neat too ... but there were "no trespassing" signs.

- The pond was crystal clear & really pretty ... but, no fish.

- Be careful on the rope swing, if you get the wrong angle ... "bam!", right back into the tree!

Great property for a family with 3 young boys!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean, comfortable, and advertised accurately. Our three boys had a blast. We live at the coast, so this environment was a complete 180 in the best way imaginable.

Peaceful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week here and our family of four really enjoyed it. The cabin has everything you could want inside and out. We explored the pond, waterfall, and creek. It is quite a distance from town but that did not stop us from doing anything we just had to plan our trips into Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock and Valle C. Rebecca and David were great to work with and we had no real issues during our stay. Be aware you'll have to use the wi-fi as cell service is pretty poor which was a refreshing change for us!

Beautiful and amazing cabin and surroundings.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was so nice. Better than the pictures. So relaxing and loved our time there. David and Rebecca are so very nice, fast response and went above and beyond with recommendations and directions to things to do in the area. So very helpful. We were only there for 3 days and two nights and it rained most of the time but we had and amazing time just relaxing and listening to the rain from the porch and spending time together. Would highly recommend it to anyone. We will be back for sure. We may make this our annual place to stay when we get away.

Thanks again David and Rebecca

Always,

Ed & Karen Guy
