About this property

Breathtaking Views of Yellowstone on the Yellowstone River in a Luxury Lodge!

We have an absolutely ideal location... amazing views and convenience too..

AND the home has been entirely renovated. So be prepared to enjoy many new improvements - hard wood floors, kitchen with granite counter tops, new windows, recycled wood ceiling and beams, updated private bedroom/bathroom suites through out, new furniture, game room with pool table, ping pong table and more....

Start your days watching the gorgeous sunrise on Electric Peak (one of the highest mountains in Yellowstone National Park) right from the breakfast table with the gentle sounds of the Yellowstone River flowing by the property. Our lodge is perched above the Yellowstone River with an expansive view overlooking Yellowstone National Park. Wildlife abounds! Watch eagles, osprey and ravens soar over the River. From the dining room or deck off the back, we've watched a wolf pack pursue and take down a pronghorn, eagles catching fish in the river, bison herds grazing, elk swimming across the river and a pronghorn give birth to twins! You never know what you may see - it can be utterly amazing wildlife encounters or simply the awe inspiring beauty of the mountains and river. Our view is south facing, so there's lots of sunlight to soak in all day long. At the end of the day, grill in the yard and let the kids play on the swing set or just sit on the deck while you watch the sunset reflections on the river and enjoy the 'big sky' views of Montana and Yellowstone.

The convenience of our property will make your vacation feel simplified and relaxed. You can walk to the grocery store, restaurants, ice cream and pizza too...check out the bookstore, gift shops or even white water rafting outfitters where they'll 'suit you up' and take you rafting down the river, right by your vacation home! Elk River Art Studio and Gallery is right next door (that's us!), where we create art inspired by the landscape and animals you'll experience during your trip to Yellowstone. A little further, the Roosevelt Arch at the northern entrance to Yellowstone National Park is just a mile away. And just a couple miles from there, you can soak in the Boiling River - the hot springs in Yellowstone Park. There's A LOT to experience in Yellowstone (we certainly love it!) and we'd be happy to point you in the right direction and help make it a vacation of a lifetime for you.

Montana side of Yellowstone
We enjoyed our Yellowstone trip more than any previous times. Shirl and her property manager Dorothy made our stay perfect; all questions preceding our arrival were promptly answered and during our stay. We saw elk, an eagle, and daily from the back porch over the Yellowstone river and watched big horn sheep through the spotting scope they had set up in the house. There were delicious scones on the table so didn't have to run out our first morning for breakfast or coffee. We had 5 adult couples and all found their rooms with ensuite bathrooms to be most convenience and excellent for their privacy. We would definitely stay with Shirl again. We found the north entrance to the park to be less crowded and more animals to observe. Thank you for sharing your very special home.

Made memories!
This was a great house for our children and grandchildren as we celebrated my husband’s retirement. The location to Yellowstone National Park was very convenient and we were able to walk to nearby restaurants. The house had beautiful artwork throughout. I loved the large dining table that was like a shadow box full of artifacts. Every bedroom had their own bathroom, each was unique with rustic decor. The kitchen had everything we needed for meals at home. Dorothy was great to work with and very attentive with any problems that came up. The best part was the wildlife we could see from the deck overlooking the River.

Simply Amazing!
Property is amazing and so is the host! Walked in to a lovely note, fresh flowers and delicious scones. We traveled from the east coast, so bring well stocked was so important to us! Beds were comfy. Plenty of towels. Gorgeous views. We saw elk right outside within an hour of our stay. Location was perfect for bars, dinner, shopping, etc. View from the house could not be better. We were a party of 8 adults. We could easily spend time together or spread out. I could go on and on, def recommend this property!!!

Amazing Yellowstone Lodge
Right on the banks of the Yellowstone River. Perfect for fishing and viewing wildlife. On the edge of the town of Gardiner, the North entrance to Yellowstone Park. All the conveniences of a small, friendly, town, with total privacy. Having five bedrooms ALL with their own private bath was an amazing convenience. Highly recommended. Dorothy the property manager was outstanding. Would definitely stay here again.

Breathtaking AND Convenient!
I can't find the words to describe our experience. The house is amazing. Its location was absolutely perfect: We could walk out the front door each day and were across the street from a bar and grill, a pizza place, and more. The Gardiner Market was a short walk down the street, plus we could walk over the bridge and do some shopping with Roosevelt Tour in our view. The best part, though, was stepping into the beautiful home. While all things convenient were in front, the view from the back made it feel like we were in the wilderness. It was such a contrast! I can still hear the sound of the Yellowstone River (we slept with the bedroom windows each night). Sitting on the deck, looking at the mountains, and getting a glimpse of wildlife made it feel like we never left the park. We made a fire at night as we sipped wine and listened to the river: So peaceful! The house well-stocked and had so many tiny touches,I don't want to spoil them, other than to say I've stayed at a lot of VRBOs with great hosts, but never one so thoughtful as this one. It was so spacious with everyone able to spread out (great after long days together). In addition to visiting sections of the park each day, we worked with the Flying Pig (same street as the house, about 10 min walk) on three excursions: Rafting, horseback ride, and "Cowboy Cookout" and Fly Fishing. We couldn't have been more pleased with their service and fun style. It was a magical experience we will dream about!

About the host

I am an artist, living, working and raising 2 children, at the edge of Yellowstone with my business partner/husband, also an artist. I enjoy living in the midst of wildlife, surrounded by the beauty of the natural world - and take advantage of my Yellowstone 'back yard' (literally!) every chance I get. I paint outside in Yellowstone often and in my 'spare time', I hike, cross country ski, canoe and kayak.... and remodel ;)

Why they chose this property

We literally searched for years looking for 'the spot'. We are artists fortunate enough to live where ever we'd like. Our property is on the Yellowstone River overlooking Yellowstone National Park. We lived in this home while we built our new studio and gallery on the property next door. The mountain and river views are gorgeous and we're at the edge of a wonderful, friendly small town. We can walk to the grocery store and Yellowstone National Park too! Hiking, skiing and soaking in the Hot Springs are just minutes away. Plus, we're close enough to take advantage of Livingston and Bozeman, MT - a couple great towns with good vibes and bigger amenities. You can get to lots of art, outdoor activities and shopping after a beautiful drive up Paradise Valley (aptly named). That's why we call our spot 'the center of the universe.'

What makes this property unique

Not too many places on this Earth have what we have. How many people can watch a wolf pack hunt, eagles and osprey catch fish, bison herds graze, elk swim and twin pronghorns born - right from their dining room window? We watch Electric Peak (one of the highest mountains in Yellowstone Park) as the sun rises it turns a beautiful 'morning pink' with the soft sounds of the river in the background. We can watch the sun set and turn the river to a ribbon of orange, then at night, with the moon above, the river again comes alive and sparkles with the moons reflection. How could we want anymore?
